I’ve heard of this happening in theory, but haven’t seen it happen with any of my friends or myself. All of our current partners started as FWBs. But we also all agree that we wouldn’t want a partner that believes our worth and value as having decreased because we had sex with a person. That said, 9 months is a long time to wait (imo) unless she has some prior negative experience or is inexperienced perhaps. I would recommend he communicate with her because there could be something else going on…

Prefacing with the fact that he was not what others would consider conventionally attractive. For example, many of our friends (usually male friends, oddly) directly told me that I could do better, but I didn’t care. I thought he was cute. He was confident; had a lot of hobbies, interests, and friends; was a great conversationalist; and he was always kind and loving towards me. Needless to say, it was good. We met through friends. It kinda started by me driving him home from a get together one n…

I agree. I have an ex-bf who is objectively unattractive, but he wasn’t insecure and was interesting and managed to get a new gf shortly after we broke up. Sure maybe he didn’t get many hook ups, but he got action.

Yeah I’m gonna disagree with you there. My bf of 4 years and I’s first date I paid, I don’t play games (too much work), and we fucked on the second date. My friends in committed relationships also had a similar pattern in their relationships. A woman who’s actually interested in you will put in effort and be genuine.

Honestly gotta argue that a lot of men on dating sites say the same generic stuff and have crappy copy-pasted profiles. Some of the men I’ve encountered often believe their dick and sexual performance is special when it literally never is. “Yeah you’ve had sex before but NOT LIKE THIS”.

I mean as a medical professional I would like to see the ultrasounds, know why the pregnancy is considered so high risk, what kind of treatments are available to mitigate some of the risk, which of the fetuses are meeting developmental milestones, etc. The issue coming down to biological sex is completely irrelevant to me lol

I have no idea where this “bad boy” trope comes from and what kind of qualities make for a “bad boy”. Cuz when I picture bad boys, all I can imagine is trashy white dudes (like Ricky or Julian from Trailer Park Boys) in which case no thank you lol. Also fyi good-natured, kind women can still have a high number of sexual partners and be into dirty, naughty, risky sex. The two are not mutually exclusive.

That’s completely not what I’m saying. As conditions change, women AND men change their mating strategies. Considering the social climate where most women were unable to work or earn equal pay until the 1950’s at the absolute earliest, before then sure, perhaps a woman in search of a mate would desire a partner who was able to provide over one who had characteristics of a “good father”. I haven’t seen you offer a single academic source to back up your claims. I’m sorry you’re so stuck on your wo…

I’m sorry, but it is controversial and a topic of debate for many in social science academia. While the ability to protect and provide is a factor, it’s not the only one that goes into mate selection. In the past when there was a greater possibility for physical threats women may have valued the traits you’re envisioning more, however modern women often desire a partner who is caring, considerate, and patient. “It may be speculated that good-father male attributes have become female mate prefere…

If that were true, then women would desire men who display emotions because it demonstrates interest in their relationship and an interest in possible offspring, no? Take for example a man who shows no emotion vs. one who does. A woman is going to choose a man who is sensitive because it shows he cares about their relationship and is a more favourable father to their potential children than a man who does not demonstrate any visible emotion or care for their relationship. The fact of the matter …

Studies show that even when women work as many hours as men, they end up doing more hours of childcare and housework than their male partners, which is where the not wanting to be a man’s mother comes in. Anyways, I’ve had a harder time getting male partners to communicate and talk about their emotions with me than I have female partners. Why? I think it’s because of the way men are socialized. Men are told by OTHER MEN (not women!) to “man up” and stop showing emotions. Men are told by other me…

This is why I’m adamant that people should date at least two years before considering marriage/ children with someone. The honeymoon phase generally lasts six months to two years. Relationships also take effort from both parties to keep the romance alive. I know personally after an enjoyable date or quality time with my bf I feel more in the mood. He’s not my husband, but the honeymoon phase has passed and I still want to fuck him all the time so your statement isn’t true, arguably for many coup…

Semen donation laws vary by clinic and country. Often men over 40 will have fewer good-quality sperm (based on mobility and morphology), which is why many set an age limit for donors. I haven’t heard of sperm rotting or clinic age limit of 25, however.

I’m gonna have to call BS on this one. Men who are conscientious lovers tend to have always cared about their partners pleasure. Sure, maybe technique can improve over time, but most women are good at communicating with their partner what they like, and doesn’t take years to teach a man. As someone who’s been with both younger and older men, plenty of men who are older are still selfish lovers.

Agreed that kids have higher rates of obesity nowadays. In the study however, decreased generational testosterone levels were still lower even when BMI was controlled for. So while BMI is definitely a large part of it, there are other factors involved as well.

What if grandma was a lonely sex-obsessed billionaire? I’m sure some men would still jump at the opportunity for the same reasons that some women would take advantage of the situation if the roles were reversed.

My friend group and I have definitely had this exact discussion! A couple of my friends think Adam Driver is a literal 9-10, while some others think he’s like a 3-5. The traits that make him undesirable to some make him irresistible to others. And it’s like that in the general population too.

Just because it’s “red flag” behaviour for a person doesn’t necessarily mean they think their date is an abusive rapist. For me personally, Netflix and pizza comes across as low-effort. First dates are about trying to make an impression as a romantic partner. All pizza and Netflix tells me is that if they aren’t willing to put effort into a first date, then they probably won’t be willing to put effort into a relationship. Or maybe it suggests that he’s had many unsuccessful first dates and is un…

In an LTR, things like appearance aren’t why some women are unhappy. If a person decides to enter a relationship with someone, they’re almost always physically attracted to them in some way. It’s because of other factors in the relationship that people become dissatisfied.

Because most people in TRP don’t know a thing about statistics, let alone have experience in a science/research-based field. Social sciences uses methodical research based on previous peer-reviewed studies to come to conclusions based on quantifiable data. Even then, correlation =/= causation, which is a basic principle in research. TRP only consists of a group who share things they believe to be true. Not all concepts they agree on. There is rarely any use of credible, academic sources. When th…

Agreed with everything you said. However, the “nurse surplus” depends where you live. In Canada there’s a national shortage. Proper nurse to patient staffing ratios could provide more jobs to alleviate this surplus in areas, but would increase the nurse shortage here in Canada. Not saying it shouldn’t be done. However, nurses here don’t get paid as much as American nurses. In my area they capped wage increases of nurses to 1% yearly. Other male-dominated public service jobs like police and firef…

Where is that copied and pasted from? Sorry there are so many links and comments I don’t know where it’s from. Regardless, it sounds like a personal anecdote and is not supported by evidence. If I may offer my own anecdote in that case- my boyfriend and I make the same amount. I have no desire to date above my own socioeconomic status. Why? Because I love him for who he is, and not for what he can provide since I can provide for myself. I would gather that many financially empowered women feel t…

How so? How does leaving a bad relationship equate to no morals or integrity? Also not understanding how a woman can be a parasite when she is financially empowered, thus doesn’t need to take anything from the man. Agreed that no one should help someone simply because of their gender, however. If someone decides help someone else, they shouldn’t expect anything in return, they should do it because it’s the right thing to do, regardless of gender.
