Is there an out-of-the-loop, ELI5 type of resource for this case? I really liked the show when they weren't going on about gender issues and before it turned into essentially college radio. I hadn't heard anything about the case except at the outset and it all made it sound slam-dunky.

It should be a good thing in this case. I think I just discovered how "in this case" was coined. This case illustrates why.

Depending on the demographic, being incarcerated is more common than being unemployed already. Perhaps an interesting quirk of unemployment figures themselves, but I don't really think either are for the greater good. Most criminals are created in prisons. Justice can suck a dick if this is what that is. Punishment for its own sake serves no real purpose.

This whole thing makes birth plans seem ridiculous. Like, normally you rent out a facility for stuff like that. That's not even considering the staff. I'm not trying to scold you or anything, I just recently changed opinions so I feel like waxing on it.

I wouldn't say that really dismisses how profoundly ridiculous most of these examples are. It might sound familiar, but these women are making it far worse for those who actually have problems.

One thing worth considering is how much of a hard-on this sub has for throwing people in jail. You could demonstrate a slippery slope asking if two 15 year olds should be able to have consensual sex. 14. 13. Then some asshat will want to throw goddamn 12 year olds in jail. If we have a prison population problem of mostly men and that makes us want to throw the book at women, maybe we need to drag the rehabilitation debate out of the gutter.

That last part just kind of reaffirms the author has been a talentless hack their whole lives. Being trained, committed and knowledgeable mean shit if you can't do the job. It's like they misinterpreted Harrison Bergeron and then based their entire flawed life as an author around that.

She misused "primary" both literally and figuratively. The primary victim being the one closest or first with the consequences being dubbed secondary. Literal meaning.

I liked your first idea better. Make a sign with what he said and put it up next to it. Don't use your handwriting and make sure there isn't a camera at the end of the hall. You might even start a dialog between others and get off scott free. If it doesn't open anybody's eyes it should at least give you some perspective on your surroundings.

He was working under the table in the first place. You can't get wrongfully dismissed somewhere you don't rightfully work. Of all the lessons this kid might get, that should probably be the main one.

The female empowerment so sought after in games is the same thing as those deplorable male power fantasies if you switch the genitals around. It's almost transphobic.

I don't think it alters the comedic value. Right or wrong, dealing with how you wish things were rather than how they are at the expense of... anything (a lot in this case) makes one an ideologue. Having ideals isn't wrong, it's just pretty much bread and butter for southpark.

The funniest part is when a big firm hires 60% women or something for PR, taking them out of the job market for other companies and some employee who works with numbers all day is like "Why can't we just do this everywhere?" Because it is literally impossible you twit. There would be no more female applicants.

It's also the easiest observation to flip on its head. "Femininity isn't respected." Supposing there might be a reason for that makes you a misogynist though, so I'll just prop up masculinity. People value utilitarianism.

They tell you it is disgusting but you can't actually agree with them. You can't even explain in which matter it might be gross to reassure them it is probably the same as theirs. You can't disagree either. There is in fact no middle ground or appropriate response you can give. Do you think it's okay for 19 year olds to have sex with 15 year olds? The reasons why it is wrong don't always apply to the same degree and sometimes not at all. At that age, a big reason might be his ability to decieve her. Note how the opposite happened. I think your problem might be that you are pointing out the letter of the law when you in fact either agree with it or at least place value on it in a sense that, yes, that is how laws work for some pretty sound reasons. Both are technically needs based, except one really isn't. Considering how it works won't really change, there isn't much wrong with it if that is the motivation and the person doing it isn't a psychopath just waiting to watch a woman die as it can only be interpreted. /s

If you already have legal equality and have laws for social equality but need more? It is at least affirmative action. Laws for social equality where you already have it demonstrably much better or conditions on how you and your gender are to be treated because you think that is what social equality is or somehow that is how it is achieved? It's social engineering.

Reddit blacked out for SOPA. Now it is blocked out for TPP. I'm not going to say it was sunshine and lollipops before and now it isn't, but this alone should illustrate something. That wasn't that long ago. That is how fast things change. Not for the better. You don't have to be an old man any more to say things were different when you were a kid. They actually admitted it to be an economic decision? That's immoral and not even because it is sexist. The economic way to vaccinate is to eradicate the disease or at least get herd immunity. This economic decision was to line the pockets of whomever makes the vaccine. The symptoms and repercussions are primarily female, so they should really be all about this being universal.

They operate with a similar philosophy where you are part of a class. If anyone in that class is oppressed in any way, at any time, then you are actively being oppressed. Intersectionality is how they make sure that "brown women" aren't a class of their own because they need the brown woman oppression points to make their point valid. It is more Marxist than socialist. Socializing the cost of children poses it's own problems. I'm pretty sure not even socialists consider that an option.

It depends how you define sexual harassment really and how it is enforced. Seeking consent can be conflated with sexual harassment at every point along the spectrum of what is and isn't acceptable. It is subjective and I really doubt a college can fairly make that distinction.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were a statistical trend. Some would have you believe that the 2 most populace countries that make up more than half the world's population abort all female fetuses, yet the world is majority female. Intel was always ahead with the fabrication processes. They just chose the wrong architecture (or maybe they didn't collude well enough with Microsoft). It would take something of a miracle to catch up on that front. Outselling intel would only be the smallest part of that. For the same reason, it will never make sense for a Chinese company to reverse engineer a CPU. You can't really skip steps in mechanical tolerances.

Most people have had Internet death threats. Most of them aren't taken seriously because they don't have a career based on sanctimony and outrage. "Die cis scum" might be an example. There has to be a flying-spaghetti-monster type of way to illustrate how ludicrous this all is. Perhaps a way to send more death threats than there are humans on the planet? It probably isn't necessarily a gender issue, but I think rights aren't the only thing affecting equality. That is like saying if men get 60% longer sentences, that it is hunky dory as long as it isn't codified into law. I think some of that view stems from the fact that it is unassailable because feminists don't have laws to complain about, but then they would just complain about the lack of one. It probably only bothers me because of the false conflict. Plus, when you have to prove that sexism…

Keep fighting after somebody has surrendered is typically how female on male domestic violence works. Unless you are some kind of woman beater. Sentences are often based on motive/intent and not the consequence (manslaughter vs murder for instance), and women's intent is usually held in high regard by default. She's going to blackmail them into not releasing the exonerating evidence? The motive can barely be distinguished from mental retardation. Maybe that was the endgame, but most people in jail need help, not jail. 15 months may be a standard punishment for perjury and blackmail for all I know. I'm not saying any of it is fair, just …

They are derived anyways. 1 in 5 and 1 in 17 combined could be nearly any number you wanted. The statistics were gathered from humans so you could weigh it as 50/50 gender ratio and get 1/11. But secondary education is 60% female so maybe your 1/8 is closer. It is Georgia Tech though, so it would be lower than any of those based on the provided data. You can essentially pick any number you want. It isn't necessarily the fact that they are derived that may cause them to be misleading.

That is about as pointless as telling a feminist that patriarchy ends if hillary gets elected. Most measurements of quality of life would put men under women in the distant past. Nobody voted and plenty of people died and labored. I'll let you figure out how that was distributed. Not only is it an apex fallacy, but it should be just as true that if you can say "men treated other men poorly" that you can say "men treated women well" considering it is largely a binary situation.

I've seen people reccomend less forceful ways to start getting over that. One was just to "approach" one person a day even if it was just introducing yourself to a stranger.

Good catch. You still have to wonder why the same type of rape carries different penalties by age though, and why the punishment is more lenient when the victim is younger. I'm guessing it would cross a line into molestation at an even younger age.

I don't doubt some MRAs did submit forms. I just think it is a moral gray area. In fact, it falls pretty squarely into the category of "gray hat" hacking. Morals aside, something like that shouldn't be possible. It would even technically be considered white hat if they informed them beforehand. It is a matter of security. Personally, I don't think any potential efficacy of the form would outweigh the security hole. There was no real penalty for the accused. If you were accused your reactions wou…

It is pretty commonly associated with PTSD. Like if you were in a war or something, the noise of gunshots could trigger you to basically flip your shit and think you're somewhere else. In the SJW context it is basically meaningless but it qualifies someone as a victim and quashes dialog, so it gets thrown out a lot.

I don't think it is compelled by any law where they are based though. There isn't any logical reason for a company that large to censor anything. The costs alone would be too large to justify. The average user has probably reported more items than the number of times they have clicked on ads. Not to mention collateral damage like exactly this right here. Subjective morality aside, They are legally entitled to censor whatever they want. It is just sooo stupid though.

They can censor if they want to. I just wonder why the hell they would want to, or even introduce that slippery slope. They could get sued by shareholders as it stands. If they are compelled by law, then it would be a legal issue. As it stands, it is truly mysterious.

I think it can be called equity. With chivalry it is an expectation more often than a favor. Half the reason psychology is quackery is the financial incentive. I'm not saying therapy and drugs don't still help the people paying for them, but you are paying someone to tell you what you want to hear which ends up literally being them repeating what you just said. What happens when you aren't the person paying, like most children or this husband, is usually disgusting.

I don't think it is incredibly fair to blame testosterone and biology. Women often get a free pass due to their hormones. That time of the month, getting pregnant, after giving birth, menopause. It ends up being almost half of a woman's life. The opposite happens for men. 50% longer sentences for the same crime could be due to either punishing men for biology or the lack of punishing women for the same thing. Take your pick. Most of the issue is that there is this thing called football and running and throwing are part if it. Even flag football. More points for women? Yeah, that's fine. At least you aren't hobbling people that way. In this version people (men) aren't even playing. I don't see how you can keep track of this at the same time as actually playing. I think trans people should get 8 points.

It depends on how you view insurance. It has never been meant to cover regular expenses historically. The first notable insurance company in the world was Lloyds of London. They insured freight companies in the event of a catastrophic shipwreck. Most companies were too small to cover the cost of the ship and the freight, so at the local tavern they threw their dues into a jar and that jar was lloyds. The purpose of that jar wasn't to buy everyone riggings with their own money or redistribute wea…

It's just a shame tactic. You get somebody to do something without explaining why. You migjt be trying to help them, but probably not considering the inability or unwillinhness to explain. The traditional male gender role leaves men susceptible to it IMO.

When privilege is refferring to anything but race or sex, it is the equivalent of someone with a BDSM fetish walking around in assless chaps complaining that people are opressing them by looking at them funny. When it comes to gender the opposite is demonstrably true. Women are institutionally privileged. Every single gender specific law is created to help women or hurt men. A lot of people hate Dr. Phil. He portrays himself as some rugged individualist, type A personality, yet he is a populist across the board. Potentially false conflict. I'm just tired of the blog because it usually just conflates MR with homophobia and it is usually just editorialized reposts, editorialized just like that title. But the submitter wrote it so they could just change the title if they wanted. I understand that part of the point if Reddit is posting stuff from the internet, but this is just stupidly redundant. You can do it through clothes if the conditions are right. Once, I got a "prove you're not gay" challenge from a coworker. I think the reason for men preferring female masseuses might have more to do with homophobia. I feel entitled to homophobia in the literal meaning of it. Fear is an emotion. Having a boner from a guy is something I would rather avoid. If that is hateful in any way, I don't see how recognizing that would help me reconcile the way I feel when I feel that way for no reason whatsoever. This is all hypothetical. It is more of the social conservatism that isn't always congruent. I don't know if it is fair to equate that with manhood academy or not (something generally despised here). In terms of the rest of it, you can be liberal overall but not expect government to solve every little social problem, and to stop creating them. It's funny that the whole gay marriage thing boils down to unequal protection under the law. Then there are gender specific laws like VAWA with overwhelming support. Maybe not as egregious as how the law is actually enforced, but so much more obvious. You can't really call it anecdotal.

Not responding to a crazy is basic normal person relationship advice. Not responding when you don't want to should be the norm if that is what's up, and in some weird way, that might be the case. The "glass escalator" is like the glass ceiling effect but has to do with men being promoted (at their behest at times) in traditionally female occupations such as nursing. It is part of feminist rhetoric. I googled it, it was part of the glass ceiling wiki page I couldn't figure out how to link to the appropriate section on the phone and what it cited was paywalled. Statistically, yes. Even then though, more children out of wedlock might mean more children, and existing is nice. That is a silly argument though. Studies that show children of single parents end up with shitty lives don't really address cases where they come from miserable marriages with crap parents, because those people are the ones getting divorced. Also unwanted children tend to end up in prison. It really is not as simple as anyone can really convey except through statistics and anecdotal…

It is the same reason that male teachers and female mechanics usually get promoted to management easier. The "credit to their sex" phenomena can make them seem exceptional when they might not be... Or maybe only one with an exceptional inclination would step outside of gender roles. The "glass elevator" is usually attributed to the former when it is men.

Oh I agree in the context of sexual selection, which would be the fundamental force at this point. You mentioned inferiority before sexual selection and also implied it was hardwired. It is kind of impossible to not be biased when drawing conclusions about ones' own species, so it could just as easily be cultural seeing as how being fat should be a sign of good health evolutionarily.
/r/MensRights14/03/13 03:24 PM

I don't think you can really call being short evolutionarily inferior or we would all be beanstalks. Shorter people can exert more force, due to leverage. By that I mean that if two people with the same muscle mass, but differing heights have a weightlifting competition, the shorter person will lift more because the weight doesn't move as far. More of leverage probably has to do with how tendons attach to bones, but aside from the length variable you are generally exchanging strength for speed. …

If someone is only a part of the MRM to support their forgone conclusion, then perhaps you can see why people might have a problem with it. It's a conclusion based on a belief or faith that they will support to the grave whether it is right or wrong. It is inductive rather than deductive reasoning. You like that conclusion? I agree that they are two vastly different beasts, but I can't really think of a precedent where an act is a crime or not based solely on intent. That may be why things are the way they are. The lesser crime would have to be some kind of also on the wrist deal. At the end of the day intent is unknowable, so nobody would get prosecuted assuming all people have to do is lie. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference for the victim either, so I would have to be for the wrist-slapping if anything.
/r/MensRights09/01/13 06:24 PM

Yeah. I was about to edit it to add that people can be charged with different crimes based on intent. Like manslaughter vs murder. I guess it is a philosophy that people subscribe to with varying degree like anything else. At some point the police become thought police. IANAL if that weren't obvious.
/r/MensRights09/01/13 05:58 PM

Imagine a world where falsely accusing was actually a crime. Do they judge by intent for other crimes? Not rightfully. Your intent has nothing to do with whether a crime was committed, though it often plays a role in the sentencing.
