I had to sign up last year and I can attest that there is a long list of things that you cannot do without signing up for selective service. Basically they make it near impossible to live if you do not sign up.

If you will notice he edited his statement very soon or relatively soon after I had posted mine. As for being statistically significant, the link he posted quotes the final number of men saved from Dunkirk as 338,226. Lets round that up to 340,000 for easy math. even if 1600 men from India were rescued they would only account for 2/425 men. You also said that most were captured before Dunkirk, so let us assume only 100 made it to Dunkirk for sake of easy math. This would mean that only 1/3400 me…

I know as I have linked to it in other forums as well, but there is no legal repercussion for you not signing up to the militia because by definition you are the militia. If they already had the power to do something then why add a penalty on top of it. Also, I believe states are supposed to arm and train the militia under the constitution correct?

I would like to argue, as someone who has little sisters and brothers, that the right to vote should not be tied to this at all and the draft removed. However, you are right to be angry and have a very good point about the seeming lack of support from women to get rid of the draft.

How about the Feds actually return the national guard back to the states and give the states proper fnding to train the militia as they have power to call up the militia in times of war. The draft however is much more of an overreach of power with penalties attached and as such should never have been implemented in the first place.

BS Social contract, the draft is a federal overreach of power that should have never been instituted in the first place. If you really want soldiers call up the militia and actually pay the states to properly train said militia as is given to the feds in the Constitution and in the United States code of law.

But it shouldn't be for anyone. That is not a cop out answer as long as you push for repeal of the draft entirely, which is what I hope for. The draft is an overreach of the government's powers and should never have been implemented. They can call upon the militia in times of war but cannot necessarily force you to join. EDIT: changed every- to any- as that is what I meant to type but my sleep addled brain messed up. Apologies.

Yes there are and there are many reasons to get married. 1: spouses are considered family and get to make medical choices with/for their SO 2: Pretty sure that there are tax benefits for being married (I might be wrong) 3: automatic security in that if one spouse dies all they own is typically given to their spouse. Assuming that (s)he didn't set up a will saying otherwise. That is a I can come up with off the top of my head but there are reasons to get married.
