And for refocusing this back onto the issue of black women’s pride, which should have been the whole point. People don’t always react perfectly in the moment. I support what Will did. I personally might have preferred if he could have defended his wife with words and wit, to remain the bigger person, but I ultimately have no problem with the way he defended his wife. He tried his best to graciously gloss over an embarrassing reactionary moment and refocus onto his art with his acceptance speech.
