First off, I get what you're trying to get at here but this post is just flat out wrong. Starting with an ugly picture and making a slight improvement to it will have a much larger incremental return than starting with an beautiful picture and making a slight improvement. I tend to agree with this, although there are empirical studies that the average retail investor makes far below the market average return, but that's not the point. The only reason I even posted this is for the people who would rather spend their time doing other things with their life and simply aren't interested in investing but they want to grow their nest egg. This post is for the "half assers".
