Are you me? I do the same thing, but I shave my armpits once a week or so, because otherwise the deodorant gets gross. I have no idea how men keep it manageable with their full underarm pelts.

Unacceptable question. Did your friend's bf relay it back to you, or did you overhear? Either way, that's a mark against the bf.

I had no idea this was a red flag, I thought it was a completely neutral beverage and good lab safety. Of course, I've never dated anyone with a significant energy drink habit.

Thank you for this write-up! I've been focusing on rebuilding myself since I found FDS and haven't applied it to dating women yet.

Yeah, I'm going to focus on making friends my age for now and maybe someone will set me up eventually. I'm happy with my life though. My job is interesting and not too hard, I have a great (but much older) social circle, a lovely apartment and a vivacious companion in my cat, and plenty of time to spend on my hobbies. I would be quite content if this is what the rest of my life looked like. As for romance, I have hope for the apps, actually. At least there are filters and specific apps to find S…

I've been trying to figure out what parts of the handbook apply to dating women. The power imbalance is far less severe, and the pay gap is more of a class gap. One of the hardest things for me has been finding women to date in the wild. I'm thinking about getting on a dating app (either ok Cupid or her) just to boost my chances of finding women who are same sex attracted.

Ugh, I hate that shit. NO, you cannot wear your crappy clothes when we go out! Would he wear them to an interview?! NO. I think you're taking all the right steps to protect yourself, and it sounds like he's independently motivated and won't drag you down. As for the roommate situation, living with his sister is pretty much the best case scenario (other than living on his own). For me personally, I'd be more concerned with the military background implied by the national guard service. Anyone who makes it out of boot camp has misogyny and abuse hard wired into their system, that's the whole point of the "we break y…

Same! I took my husband's name when I got married, because I was tired of spelling my last name for everyone, but now I'm changing it to something completely different to establish myself as an individual not named after ANY men.

I am bi, I've previously dated mostly men. My family was really weird about me seeing women so I didn't bring them to the family holidays, which felt shitty but I would rather excuse myself and my partner from family parties than go and have her be treated poorly. Anyways, I've had some conversations with my mom (the prime originator of drama and shit talking) and I think she's come around. I was reading another comment that mentioned "standing before the wall" before 25, and my immediate association was of being backed closer and closer to a wall, and escaping over it. That's very much what it feels like to turn 25. An escape. Then you keep going further from the wall, and it continues to get better.

Don't be silly, women can't MEASURE!! Do you know how many male lies would be discovered if women walked around with a tape measure at all times, and pulled it out at the drop of a hat?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/09/21 06:22 PM

Women are not the only ones raising their sons, though. Even if there isn't a father figure involved, the male socialization of our culture still enforces the abysmal standards men have set for their own behavior and benefit. Boys see how much easier their shitty peers have it, and weaponized incompetence is contagious. Why WOULDN'T a boy pretend he didn't know how to do something if he's seen that there are no consequences for it? Please don't blame women for the things that men choose to do un…

Exactly! Hence my mixed feelings. Viktor MIGHT be a HVM, but he's not the right one for Hermione at that time. Reconnecting years later, after she's the Minister for Magic, and he's hopefully still great after his Quidditch career is over? By all means!

I actually feel like Fred could have been very good with Hermione. If you look at their interactions in the books and movies, it really seems like he cares about her and respects her, and just didn't make a move because of her thing with Ron.

10/10 I HIGHLY recommend jiu jitsu for women!! It's more reliant on core strength and center of gravity, and they teach quite a few throws you can do from the ground.

I highly recommend jiu jitsu to women!! A martial art that focuses more on core strength and knowing your center of gravity, it's very suited to women. It's also great for getting out of compromising situations. The number of shenanigans I've shut down with a nearly instinctive throw is way too high, but I'm so glad I learned it, and I'm only a blue belt!

I really love Lois McMaster Bujold and Catherynne M. Valente. Honestly, as long as they're working on themselves at least they're doing something right. They SHOULD work out, for their health at the very least, just like we do. They SHOULD have hobbies, preferably ones where you can see a result after, because these have been shown to have amazing mental health benefits, and we should have productive hobbies for the same reasons. My problem starts when they start preying on women, especially more vulnerable or naive women.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I think most of us have been in your place. However, I disagree that we need to enlist women as well. Men only listen to and respect other men, and very rarely will ANYTHING said by a woman be given any weight unless it is in support of a man's opinion. Feminist single mothers have had their sons turn against them for as long as women have been fighting back against our oppression. Misogynistic women tend to defer to the opinions of men as well, especially …

As a female engineer, I agree. I went to school and work with these dudes, and the field still skews overwhelmingly toward men. My graduating class was 6% female, and although my department is 20% female that's unusually high and because my boss and director is a female engineer. So as someone who has a lot of exposure to these men, I can say they are almost universally trash. Well-adjusted male engineers who can carry a conversation and be allowed to communicate directly with clients without co…

Fuck that shit. If it's not a comfortable place for me, I don't come over. Even before FDS, when I went over to a dude's place to cook for him on the third date (🤡), he didn't have a sharp knife or two functional chairs at his table, so I turned right around and took my ingredients to a friend's place and we cooked dinner together. These dingy hobo apartments are completely inhospitable, and I don't stay where I'm not wanted. If he DID have furniture, but refused to let me use it? That's not jus…

In my opinion, it's different if the picture is telling a story. The female fish pic equivalent would be the mani display pic, where you take a picture of your nails while holding the polish you used. I think that a more generally relatable picture would be one where something like your nails are just ONE of the interests showcased. In that case, show yourself COOKING the fish in a nice fitted tee shirt, maybe with an apron? THAT is a man that can provide food, not some thumb looking schlubby dude in the traditional garb of hat/sunglasses/sunburn/fishing pants/gross shirt with big old sweat stains.

I either ignore, or turn it around. Your dad and brother think you shouldn't cut your hair or lift? I wonder when the last time they took care of their bodies was. How is their diet, what did their doctor say about their weight last physical? It was in the past year, right? How much do they drink? Nothing you do is working against your health, can they say the same?

YES And fish pics Men have NO IDEA what women are interested in, because they don't see us as PEOPLE. Most men are heterosexual only in that they want to have sex with women. In all other regards, other men are the ones they love.

I love this as a strategy, but I do have a question. We advocate for dinner dates, especially for first dates, and I know that most of the outings I go on with friends involve food. Do you just eat two dinners that night? Or just an appetizer with your friends and potentially a second one or dinner if the date falls through?
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/07/21 12:39 AM

Exactly! You have to break it down, is this WORTH the time and money spent to prepare? Much less the risk you've exposed yourself to, meeting a strange dude.

I actually AM allergic to latex, and I have a sensitivity to parabens (they're in a lot of skincare, and lubricants). I'm currently celibate and bi, and I'm not really planning to have sex with men again. I also have a variety pack of latex free condoms with paraben free lube tucked away in my closet. Because I'd rather have them and not need them, than need them and not have them.

Oh no! Yeah, I've had the same thing. I'm a mechanical engineer working construction adjacent, so working with tools is a big part of my site visits. I LOVE putting flat pack furniture together! It feels like a grown up Lego kit, the directions are usually so easy to follow, and at the end you have a new piece of furniture!! Haha, yes. My gyno says I have a "sneaky cervix", too. I wanted to get fitted for a diaphragm (because I'm also allergic to latex and have sensitivities to phthalates, which makes condom shopping very difficult, and I hate altering my body and hormones so some dude can get off) and she said, "Yeah, I'm not sure that's going to work out for you". She was totally right, it was a disaster.

Same!! Like, no. I don't want to get a cramp every time you over thrust, and you want to bottom out so that's a problem. And the vagina is ABLE to push out babies, but it's not exactly a pleasant experience. Agree 100%. I've only had it die on me once, and I charge it once a month. The only two modifications I would wish for are color choices (I really wish it came in black, or purple. It would match my bedroom better), and I wish it had a setting that scaled up and down the intensity settings. It's so ergonomic, and pretty, and nice! So the interior is a flexible but thick short cylinder, with a vibrating diaphragm. The vibrations pull the diaphragm toward the charging base, and if the thick cylinder has a seal that pull will pressurize the cylinder to create suction. In short, yes. In practice, the vibration is most of what I feel, but it's more enveloping.

I'm not sure I've ever met a truly high value man, so take this with a block of salt, but I've found that giving men less control tends to improve my outcome. Basically just cuff his hands and sit on his face. Obviously still give feedback, but you have better leverage for guidance and a better angle for slight smothering, and nothing will touch your butthole "accidentally". Also much easier to get from "almost" to "perfect".

I, and all the women I've seen naked, generally trim. Some shave their upper thighs, but from what I've heard and seen it's really unusual for a woman who is either a lesbian or prefers dating women to actually shave or wax.

I've accepted that I'll never mimic men well enough to be respected by their standards (I'm in STEM AND construction, so I was pretty much doomed from the start but thought I could fit in if I just ✨tried✨), so I decided to make my own standards, since there is literally one other woman here. We talked and decided to stop trying. We both love florals and purple, so that's what we wear. 🤷‍♀️ We're not letting men make or be the standard, because we can do better.

I love Build a Man, lol Around my height give or take an inch (5'6"-5'8" ideally) Lean/slightly defined build (think yoga/dance background), and a good ballroom dancer Fashionable, preferably alt ish or vintage, a man who wears suits on dates Good cheekbones, either clean shaven or with a light goatee (in terms of structure, dark hair preferred), strong but well groomed eyebrows Good skin, nice teeth, well groomed hands (and everything else, honestly) Sexy voice, present eyes, flirty attitude NS…

I could be there one misinterpreting it, in that if you didn't get off it doesn't count. I thought it was a really revolutionary concept, to redefine "body count" to be less focused around penetration and more around actual sexual intimacy, but I could also be reading too much into it. How did you interpret it?

I absolutely agree. The pandemic and lockdowns really highlighted what I do for society and what I do for my own comfort, and it's given me the opportunity to unpack where any discomfort comes from. I don't like people looking at my legs when they're not shaved, but left to my own devices the only thing I do with my leg hair is condition it. But I hate the way sweat feels and smells in hair, and shaving my armpits once a week or so fixes that completely. I've gotten rid of almost all of my non s…

I dealt with a less severe situation for my first 6 months/year at my current position, and the only reason I stayed is because I out networked my bully coworker. Also this is a very fun and pretty dildo since you already have external stimulation covered. It glows in the dark VERY well, the blue is super pretty with the pearl marbling, and the shape of excellent. Not too girthy or too skinny, excellent texture. It's because women are seen as a pubic resource, and our labor is invisible but expected. We're seen as greedy for not making ourselves available for someone who matters (men, children) to utilize. That's also why child free women are seen as more selfish than child free men.

I've heard good things about going cold turkey on everything (masturbation, porn, etc) for a while (a pretty long time, whatever that looks like for you) and starting masturbating again later with just the sensations, or a non harmful fantasy. If you start thinking about porn situations, or degrading acts, you stop and come back to it later. It's basically a way of breaking the conditioning of abuse=orgasm, and reconditioning yourself with a healthier sexuality.

I know it's terrifying to lose friends, especially in the wake of traumatic experiences. It's alienating and hurts so much when people you thought were your friends ignore you or turn on you when you need them the most. There are basically two ways you can go forward with your friend, and I'm not sure which I would pick in your situation. But I've lived both of them, so I can at least guess from what I know of the situation how it would play out. Your friend is not ready to break with her husban…

Your friend's boyfriend is definitely making a big deal out of it. What would you have done if someone posted something that you didn't think was relevant to a group? I know I would just ignore it, if I felt that it wasn't relevant. He CHOSE to DO SOMETHING about it, and it wasn't to help you with this difficult and terrifying situation, it was too intentionally SILENCE you.

I don't like that the advice columnist tells her to do this "nesting" thing. If he doesn't do any work around the house or spend time with the kids now, you know that as soon as she leaves him he'll do even less. Her house will be wrecked every time she gets back from his "primary parent" time. It won't be like he's always away for work trips, it'll be like she's constantly coming back from a work trip to find the house a disaster and the kids neglected.

I swear by mine. For quick armpit shaves I just use a little shaving cream and go with the grain, just to trim basically. But for a full shave, it's a much more spa like experience. I'm talking a hot towel, or a bath first, then with, against, and across, and a nice post shave balm.

I know it feels really nice to be sought out for your opinion and have your advice valued, and he'll probably say something like, "I just want to make sure you're comfortable here", but at this point it's kind of a cop out of putting in some effort and thoughtfulness himself. There are a ton of evidence of male gynaecologists not being a good choice, there's a whole book about it. Women and Doctors, by Dr John M Smith. Personally, I'll never see a male gyn again, especially after my traumatic insertion experience. I think, given what we already know about the nature of men, that it's naive to expect male medical professionals who specialize in women's health to not be monsters. We can't assume that any man is high value, and given the vulnerability of that situation …

I know that feeling. I'm a mechanical engineer. My entry level classes were 20-25% women. My graduating class? 4%. I graduated 4 years ago, just checked up on my cohort on LinkedIn. We're down to 6 women currently working in STEM jobs, and we're already lagging behind our male peers in terms of promotions. These women were on par with the top 10% of the class, in terms of intelligence and work ethic. So much talent squandered. We need female engineering firms.

Very true. When it's important to them, they're competent. And if your happiness was important to them, they would at least make an effort to do things that make you happy. Hell, if your health and well-being is important to them, they at least KNOW what you're going through. The man flu is a very good point. It is absolutely sickening how much of ourselves we are expected to give, and how little it's even noticed, much less reciprocated. It was horrible. But I'm not scared of being alone, even …

My ex husband and I were living together when I discovered I had cancer, and through most of my procedures. He only went to one appointment with me, because they wanted to talk to him about how I wouldn't be able to carry a pregnancy to term afterwards. I had to ask him to hold my hand. It's possible that he really doesn't have any idea what she went through, but that doesn't really make him less of a piece of shit.

Nope, I've decided I'm happier pretending I don't know that. Thank you for telling me, I will be intentionally and promptly forgetting that for a significant subset of scrotes "conscious adult human" is not the minimum to inspire attraction.

In terms of improving books, I highly recommend the life-changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo, and the bullet journal method by Ryder Carroll. (Both are on the FDS reading list) Bonus, they're more introspective and long term activity books, with less focus on buying happiness.

It's like bower birds. The male makes a pretty nest and hopes he'll find a nice female bird to spend time with him in it. If he's being outperformed by a bird, I'm not interested. If your couch doesn't have throw pillows, I'm not interested. If you don't have plants, I'm not interested. If you don't display at least one work of art, I'm not interested. I don't even entertain anyone who went furniture shopping at the dump behind goodwill.

I would definitely recommend self defense classes, I liked karate based ones for surprise street encounter scenarios, and jiujitsu for when your date goes bad. However, you have to practice at least every other day to keep up your skills, and any self defense martial art requires that you let your enemy get close to you, attack, disengage, and then run. That's a lot to ask from most people under stress, particularly women who are usually out weighed and out reached in any encounter, and encourag…

I'm so sorry that happened, and I'm very concerned that this dude knows where you live. I personally have pepper spray, but I have a feeling you're going to need more stopping power. The rule with weapons is that you don't carry anything that you can't use, and use well. If you carry something that you won't/can't use, you're just arming your attacker and raising the stakes.

Manchurian cantaloupe makes very good points, but I think the reason they specifically go for us is the media. They identify with the blah everyman character in every movie. Who does blah everyman really want? The exceptional woman. She's always gorgeous, and usually put together, accomplished, and confident. These movies tell him that he is in our league, and we'll transform to the pick me of their dreams with a high value shell as soon as they talk to us/win is over with their "charms". Basica…

You already know the answer, you were right to end it. Being frugal is not always low value, if it were in line with your ultimate life goals and who you wanted as a partner. It seems as though he's been generous and thoughtful so far, especially in light of his frugality. He could potentially still be decent if he continues to be thoughtful, and does more personalized romantic things as he gets to know you. But. Well this plague thing is actually a great opportunity to transition to no makeup, if you want to. You wear a mask anyway when you're out, so forget lipstick, foundation/bb cream, blush, highlighter, contour, etc. If you need to ease into it, try just grooming your brows and doing mascara, and gradually do less as you get used to existing in your own skin.

Really? Do you intend to get within 6' of your date? Do you intend to touch him, or take off your mask? If you do, then there should be no problem going to a restaurant for an actual date that shows investment in you. They think sex is shameful, and someone must bear the shame. Women are the intended targets, because we are penetrated, our bodies are used. For men having sex with each other, the "bottom" is more shamed as well. They don't understand that we want to share, they just want to take.

There's also the psychological horror of it. I'm sure any fans who read that at least winced. Women are actively socialized to be more civilized, but I think it can be overcome. 😁😁😁

You're much nicer than me. I don't think I need to articulate up front that I don't want anyone to violently fuck my face, and if I start feeling disrespected, used, or violated I bite. 🤷‍♀️ Mistreating someone with your dick between their teeth is a bad idea.

I tried to get a diaphragm too! I have slightly narrow anatomy, but nothing truly outside the norm, and I can use a cup for my period so I thought it'd be pretty similar. Nope! The diaphragms were all HUGE! It feels like most of them still don't see us as people. It's not even completely safe with female doctors. When I had my IUD put in, I gained 70 lbs over the course of a year, with no changes to diet or exercise. Nothing I did after that made much of a difference in terms of losing weight, and none of my obgyns believed me when I said I thought the Mirena made me gain weight because it's not on the list of side effects. I got the Mirena and I bled for six months straight after it was inserted, and not at all afterwards. It was hellish, and definitely not worth it. The doctors never listen. If I had been experiencing less body horror from the insertion, I would have yanked it out myself toward the end of those first six months. But they/my ex made me leave it in for seven years, because they didn't want to take it out until it expired, I went back on the pill, or he got snipped.

Here, here! I do understand not leaving our fertility and lives in the hands of potentially abusive men, but I don't think that we should have to suffer such extreme and ultimately unnecessary procedures. If you can be assured that you are unlikely to experience any degree of rape (including stealthing), you shouldn't have to put up with that level of invasive medical procedure. It's a sad truth that some women, especially those in abusive situations, can EXPECT some form of rape, and want to pr…

Congratulations!! I'm in the same boat, I was on various hormonal birth control methods for ten years, culminating in an IUD. It was a hellish experience, and none of it was for my own benefit. If you were able to make time for him, but he wasn't able to make time for you, then you already care more and should drop him. I'm not sure you even need to say anything, other than wishing him well in the future if you feel so inclined.

Also, you don't need a man to not be alone. I would focus on making friends and building your social network, connecting with other HVW. The loneliest I've ever been was when I was in a relationship with a LVM, don't think for a moment that you need the company of any dude that's a step down from a vibrator and a cat.

You're right, and you should say it.

Yes. Men will lie about anything if they think it would possibly get them laid. You know this. Your first instinct, to cut him loose, is the right one.

Thank you, I found this very helpful. I'm still starting out and sometimes it's hard to break that habit of undeserved empathy. Also it's awkward to start conversations that I feel might lead to confrontations. But I need to remember that I have the right to my opinion and to find someone that shares it. Yay, female socialization.

Ew. Yeah, no. The gall of this dude. Would you say that to a stranger?!

Why would you showcase how terrible you are at grooming? No problem with hair on anyone, but let's keep it shaped and maintained, shall we?

Excellent insight, I was thinking that the message would imply that you are busy too, and your time is valuable. Giving him time to make another offer and him just ... not doing that. It's like, No.

You totally did the right thing. With the rest of the context that is NOT an ambiguous situation, that man is trying to waste your time.

At first I wasn't sure if I would have blocked for that, just been like "That's too bad, maybe our schedules will match up later." to kick it back to him if he actually did have to work during the date he planned. But then I thought again. Having to work on Fridays in pretty normal, why does he have to be off all day to take you out?

I think they believe that whole "a picture is a part of your soul" thing, and they're trying to steal your soul. 🤷‍♀️ It's what makes the most sense.

I personally only hire women if I can. Men have plenty of support, and the fact that men are generally trash doesn't change just because they're at work. For therapists, men just do not understand most of women's internal lives, and what factors influence our decisions because it just doesn't occur to them. It's not something they have to think about, so they don't. Similarly, I have heard that black women have much better outcomes if they have black female therapists, because misogynoir is more…

It's more like, "Jimmy got a gold star too, so mine is worthless!" Yes, because love is a finite resource. 🙄🙄🙄

You don't owe him anything. He has probably lied to you already, you just haven't caught him out yet.

I'm personally in the same boat as well, in regards to not wanting to ever have kids. It's partly not wanting to raise a monster or go through the heartbreak of seeing the abuse I've lived through inflicted on my daughter, but also because the world in general does not seem to be getting better and I think it would be very irresponsible to bring another life into it. Climate change and the various apocalypse scenarios that are coming from our collective denial are not going to be fun, and I worr…

Well, that's definitely a lesson to learn. Never send nudes. Dudes see them as trophies and will almost always refuse to treat them as respectfully as you deserve.
