Let me be a Devil's Advocate here, dating people with way too broken families is like dating someone who is disabled, none of it is there fault necessarily but after the relationship you will have to be their emotional vent, if you are capable and patient enough for that much drama go for it, or if the person is worth that much drama go for it, otherwise just keep in mind the side effects while dating!

This is mostly because women are highly competitive with each other, when middle aged women see other women in 20's they tend to compare themselves leading to sore relations, it's not always like this but usually this happens, whereas men are not competitive about looks as much, so there are negligible conflicts between older men and their students.
