I can relate to this. Recently divorced (she cheated), 3 kids, 50/50 custody. I go to all the parent-teacher conferences, coordinate the kids' sports schedules (and I coach some of them), plan birthday parties, currently re-doing each of their rooms... the list goes on. And I pay for almost everything (always have), work a demanding full-time job, etc. Despite all that, she continues to tell her family and friends that she gets no help, regurgitates this narrative of bearing the mental load, doi…

I can relate! I just hope my kids notice the difference more and more as they grow up, and I hope they learn some important lessons about relationships and how to do better once they are adults.

This has been my experience as well, and I was kind of confused by it: I had no problem getting it up, but then went on for a very long time (no supplements), tried different positions, etc. It was frustrating after a while because I didn't want her to think I wasn't attracted to her, but I think it just took me some time to get used to a new partner (same for her, probably). The good news is that things have gotten better and better as we get to know each other and our relationship is blooming.…

We literally just did this today with my three kids - 12, 8, and 5. We were going to a couple weeks ago (after 5 months of mediation, so we finally have a somewhat clear picture of what the future will look like) but my stbxw backed out last minute. Last week she agreed to have the talk with them on Memorial Day, and even though I had a charity run this morning and it's a heavy day for me already (I'm a vet), I was okay with doing it today. It went about as well as it could have, I guess. The li…

This is so similar to my stbxw's behavior over the last several months, minus the alcohol. It made more sense to me once I found definitive proof that she has been cheating on me for many months, if not longer. It seems that this pattern of behavior is common, and it strongly indicates an affair. Sorry you're going through it. Hang in there. Read up on Stoicism and the lessons of Miyamoto Musashi.

Damn. This hit so many nails on the head and resonates very strongly with my recent experience. There are a lot of reasons why my marriage is ending, but here's one example that I think highlights part of what you say in this post: Almost two years ago, I donated my left kidney so my best friend of 20+ years could live some kind of normal life rather than a short and miserable one on dialysis until he died young. I did it because he would've done the same for me, and because I had the ability to…

I feel you, man. It sucks.

This is almost exactly what I'm going through right now. I'm totally destroyed and grieving her/us/our family life that is no more (3 young kids involved), while also trying to deal with this version of the woman I knew and loved for so long - but now she's someone else. Cold, heartless, doesn't seem to care about anyone but herself. It feels like losing her to a cult, because I just don't recognize her as the person I once knew. Meanwhile, she appears to be completely fine with how things are g…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
