Not at all :) I only know what i have from experience and what i remember reading up on when i went into service. I think conscription is great and i feel like more people should be in the military as its a great way to learn things norwegian youth really needs to learn :) That being said, norwegian military doesnt throw young boys into combat unwillingly.

These are some pretty hard questions to answer but in order. Dont think they get a choice, but i havent heard of it ever happening. Not that i know of. Force some because only so many are required to serve every year. I believe this to be the JWC homepage, but if you want to talk to active soldiers, I wouldnt show up unannounced and start talking

As i understand it, i never comes to jail time since those who are called either understands and accepts or wants to do the service. To say Norway isnt militarily active is far from true, Norway is active in every join operations that happens in the north that im aware of(I believe Joint Viking was the latest one). We also host one of the NATO Joint Warfare centres. When it comes to iceland its just that they dont have a dedicated military and I guess norway saw the potential recruits and offere…

Failure to meet up starts with fine and ends in jail time and a very serious talking to or simply being forced to location by police. Norway relies heavily of special operations units when it comes to actual combat, but in comparison to the other Scandinavian countries i would say norway maintains a well equipped and prestigious, if rather small military :) ninjaedit: If you're icelandic, i read somewhere that you are eligible for norwegian military service which i find is a real "bro move" :P

As I said, i wasnt given the option to get out of it, but most are and its very easy to fabricate white lies to get out of service. I feel very lucky with how my service worked out, i was a recruit, as one is, during that time i made friends both male and female through hard work and teamwork. i was later put up for guard training since i was physically unfit for a boat and i wanted to more shooting... a lot more shooting (because im really good at it). I thought it would be fun, I was in turn correct. I did a year and finished as Commander of the Guard(Vice Constable) so i got to order those very impressive looking guys around! (i ordered them to make waffles) The pay was great, the experiences was great, i got a bunch of really cool stuff for free and a really nice paper with lots of nice words on it :)

I was in a group with a couple people that were physically super impressive, maybe not the properly brightest lads but in ridiculously good shape (i be meni jelly). That being said I was never offered the "jump ship" even though i was(and am) in very average shape. But! I was motivated and have some... quite impressive mental scores :P

You're right in that some people of a certain background (usually cooks or mechanics) are the "victims" of forced conscription and the rest can get off pretty easily by simply stating "I dont want to" unless you show strong physical or mental capabilities(as i've seen it).

Yeah... no... This article talks about the norwegian military that already have women spread out in what I believe to be every single branch. The only difference will be the amount of them. Tbh, I went through a year as a guard commander stationed a place where there werent any women(for several reasons) and god dammit, if you're not a bro its not pleasant spending 24/7 with a bunch of smelly loud "dudes".

Norway is in a peculiar position. The forced conscription is only of so few people that you only get conscripted if you did above average in the mental and physical tests and get a clean bill of health. Saying "I've always had these headaches" is grounds for the doctor to let you off if you dont wanna go. source: Norwegian and had a friend that did that

Yeah, innocent until proven guilty, what these people are doing is wildly inappropriate and wrong. Buuuuuut if they want to make a case out of it, it doesnt look great, but thats it, just looks. Im sorry, I dont mean to come off sarcastic but if you know how this works could you explain it? I dont know the rules youtube have on videos, but didnt she agree to have the video of her when she stopped to answer his question? Wouldn't youtube have to back up the claim that its "non-consentive" and not just take the persons word for it? I dont get why its accepted at face value that she means its a breach of her privacy when it seemingly wasnt :/
