That's definitely a tricky question, and I don't know the answer to it. Giving equal opportunity to both is ideal, but it also won't help close any gap. Giving more opportunities to girls now can cause an imbalance later on.

I was just thinking that, since boys dominate the tech field already, perhaps girls could use more motivation and inspiration.

I honestly think that many schools are failing at their job then. I know of many schools with a diminishing or even no STEM program at all. Some are definitely doing well at providing opportunities to all, but at places where schools don't offer these programs, it's up to the parents and outside sources to get anyone interested in STEM.

I don't think it's a question of ability, but rather a question of interest. Think of it like skydiving. It's not hard to jump out of a plane, but it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea. We shouldn't take men off the plane and put women on "because vagina," but at a younger age, inform them of all the benefits of skydiving and how fun it will be. That's a valid point, but I think that boys and girls need support in different areas. There's no doubt that there are more boys interested in technology than girls, but maybe girls are better at expressing emotion than boys. Because Firefox is a technology company, it makes sense that they're supporting an ideal related to their main focus.

Just curious, isn't getting more women in technology the solution to the "pay gap"? Is the issue here that Firefox is trying to help get women in technology, or that it's asking for donations? I support Men's Rights, but I don't see a downside to helping women get into a technological field.
