No - clearly there is a 'system' of a sort that treats men and women differently, but to bluntly deem it as benefitting men and detrimental to women is being rather selective about which aspects of it you pay attention to. I always thought it hypocritical that feminists were so adamant about de-gendering language like "fireman" to "firefighter" or "chairman" to "chairperson" (which incidentally I think makes sense), and then when they need a word to describe the problem that underpins everything…

The problem with that argument is it it couples individual experience and group agency. If a man is assaulted by another man, the victim's suffering isn't lessened because they share the same genitalia as their attacker, nor do they assume some portion of the responsibility for the assault. These conversations so often refer to groups as a whole as if they are operating with shared agency. If you want to make him feel good, give him a cold beer and tell him to sit back and enjoy it while you say nice things about him for a solid five minutes. Physical compliments, things he's done you admire, remember, or make you love him, ways he's made you laugh, why he's a good partner, brother, friend, son, etc. He'll be on cloud nine after that. That kind of language is really not appropriate for elected officials or any professional setting. I don't think the issue of gender is really relevant, but clearly she's going to spin every and all resistance or abuse she receives as being either misogyny or racism. Out of curiosity I looked up the Rotten Tomatoes rating for that film, and the critics vs. audience divide is about as large as I've seen it. No doubt there are legitimate criticisms (as with most if not all documentaries), but some of the critics comments sort of prove the thesis of the film. link

I don't see how the male victims benefit from the fact that his gender is not victimized the most (which is not even true).
