I did. And I don’t regret it: we are creatures who have needs. If needs are not being met- we find a way to fill them. I deserve what I got- bud damn I’m happy.

I paid $99 for a consultation. Figured out what my bottom line was and negotiated from there. The lawyer gave me a good idea what I’d come away with if I hired them. I then answered every argument/negotiation with “let me talk to my lawyer”. I had no lawyer but made it sound like I did. In the end, we settled right where the lawyer said we would. I would not say this is the best way- but I only paid $99 for the divorce (she paid thousands for her lawyer)

You will always be your kids father. Always.

I quit after 2 sessions. I didn’t want to pay so my ex could try to justify herself.

You will always be your son’s dad. Nothing will ever change that. You also will get over the thought of having another man in the picture someday- because YOU are the dad. I felt the same way.. but got over it quickly. I have 50/50 custody- and love every second I’m with my boys. I also love the other 50% of my time, getting to figure out who I am, what I want in this life and enjoying not being unhappy. You have a long life ahead of you. But you also only have one life. You only live once:)

I always would counter her with “my attorney said” (when I hadn’t talked to the attorney).. on basic stuff like that.. Remind each other that the parenting plan really is a doc that you’ll never really look at anymore- as you will get into a pattern and just switch days as needed. We had a contentious divorce.. but somehow are civil with the kids schedules.. over email.

Just wish him good luck;) and move on. It’s easier than I had thought it was gonna be.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
