| 1 | Only violence stops mansplaining! - Wonder Woman comic #30I think we (mostly) agree. I'm just not going to blame people whose reaction to being dismissed out of hand isn't a stellar example of "high ground" dialogue, ya know? Although as terms like "mansplaining" bleed out of gender studies classes and through the media into the common vernacular, I'm more inclined to say that engagement will be more likely to change perspectives. I'm never going to be accused of mansplaining, owing to my tits and all, but I am very likely to say "gosh, that is incredi… | /r/MensRights | 08/11/17 03:10 AM |

He was then sacked. He posted to his Twitter feed hopes that the investigation would be treated as urgent so he could return to politics as quickly as possible. The fact that he had been sacked for allegations of a sexual nature was reported on many national news media sites, including the BBC and ITV, making afore-mentioned return to politics virtually impossible, whether t… | /r/MensRights | 08/11/17 02:26 AM |

You don't need to be sorry for getting your things together, and you're not an "emotional little girl". You're a teenager, and you're still figuring things out. There's nothing wrong with that, at all. It's good that you're able to evaluate your positions and change them. Hold onto that, because it will become harder and harder as you get older and more uncomfortable with information that disproves your world view in some way. | 1 | Only violence stops mansplaining! - Wonder Woman comic #30Ah, gotcha. I don't think the onus is on men accused of mansplaining to avoid furthering the divide, though. Accusing a man of "mansplaining", regardless its origins, has become an overtly sexist silencing tactic in pretty much every instance of its use. It's not functionally different to telling a woman who's trying to explain something to "get back in the kitchen" - and the very last thing on my mind if someone seriously said that to me would be bridging any divide. I'm also not sure the Venn … | /r/MensRights | 08/11/17 12:47 AM |

| 1 | Only violence stops mansplaining! - Wonder Woman comic #30And, with respect, your suggestion that the "mansplaining" meme is born of misunderstanding and men just being shit at succinct explanation is wildly - unrealistically - generous to most people who use it. If that were true, it would be called "oversplaining", because men aren't likely to be any worse at succinct explanation than women. | /r/MensRights | 07/11/17 03:51 AM |
| 15 | Michelle Obama says men feel entitled and rely on women to protect themThis is what happens when someone knows there's something there. She's feeling the invisibility of men, she's being niggled at by the fact that boys fall by the wayside and get "loved" (ignored) while girls get "raised" (encouraged, protected, pushed, nurtured, given opportunities beyond imagining)... but that realisation is slamming headlong into the societal conventional wisdom that men rule everything and women and girls are oppressed victims. That they deserve a good man, a family, happiness, appreciation, respect. They're told that any propensity toward irrationally emotional outbursts or behaviour is not their fault - indeed that these characteristics are the "correct" way of doing things and that men are emotionally defunct cavemen. | 1 | I am a female who was the accused in a Title IX investigation. Yes, Title IX truly is unfair to men.I understand. But then how to we get past the gynocentrism of society as a whole, and the almost psychopathic way that huge swathes of the population can ignore men's suffering even when it's right under their noses? I suppose I've always seen the "woman suffers something that usually happens to men" stories as a way of breaking through that barrier with eminently more visible female suffering, in order to push the point "this happens to men, many men, daily". | 1 | I am a female who was the accused in a Title IX investigation. Yes, Title IX truly is unfair to men.it's this kind of bullshit that actually HURTS men's rights. By framing an issue that disproportionately affects men within the "male aggressor, female victim" paradigm and bolstering the invisibility of male suffering? Or something else? In any case, I see your point. I do think it can be helpful when women who are affected by ostensibly men's issues experience and speak up about them, but it's a double-edged sword. | /r/MensRights | 30/10/17 02:34 AM |
| 1 | I am a female who was the accused in a Title IX investigation. Yes, Title IX truly is unfair to men.I do agree that the issue is with the legislation, but I think to ignore that heavy skew toward the "male aggressor, female victim" paradigm is to bypass how we got to the legislation in the first place - through feminist narrative built entirely on the presupposition of male aggressor and female victim as a default state of affairs across all of society. In ignoring how we arrived at Title IX, we can't hope to effectively end it. Further, while this story is one about a woman's experience with … | /r/MensRights | 30/10/17 02:08 AM |

| 1 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? As did having an adult woman dependent upon him. | 3 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return?Well, not really. He could have paid a cleaner a couple hours a week and put his kids in childcare. The "contract" made was that he would work and support the family financially while she managed the house for the family. If the family no longer exists, the contract is void and the risk she chose to take has not paid off. That's life. | /r/MensRights | 12/06/17 01:39 AM |
| 6 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return?ICYMI: The article also says, you will have noted during your thorough reading of it, that "The impact is also reduced if they start working after the relationship breakdown. | 3 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? For information, what your source study actually says is: The most significant drop in support for gender equity occurred on the issue of what is the ideal family arrangement. By 1994, an overwhelming majority (84 percent) of 18-to-25-year-olds disagreed that the male breadwinner/ female homemaker family was superior to other family arrangements. | 5 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return?Well they probably don't like the idea of divorce, either. In single-earner families, (mostly) men make sacrifices, in terms of spending more time and energy in the workplace so that the standard of living of the family unit is improved. Research has shown that children with an engaging stay-at-home parent, in a household with both parents, have better outcomes than children with two working parents or just one parent. It makes sense to want this and to be prepared to sacrifice for it. Divorce i… | /r/MensRights | 12/06/17 12:41 AM |
| 2 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? She never does because it doesn't exist to her. If you're a man, you sit-around all day growing fat off of women's labor while watching money growing on trees and drinking cocktails. This is blatantly false. Men spend a lot of time expending labour calling their bros in the patriarchy to evilly plot against women. | /r/MensRights | 12/06/17 12:13 AM |
| 1 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return?I'm an atheist and always have been, and while I don't have any issue with people holding whatever beliefs they want to, there is something incredibly strange, almost Pratchett-surreal, about listening to someone talk about something imaginary (to me, obvs) as though it's real. I get that same feeling when I hear/read these "men are awful, rapists are literally everywhere, I fear leaving my house" kids who've been indoctrinated by the ideology de jour. | 5 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? You don't seem to be taking any male sacrifice into account here, at all. You're focusing entirely on financial gain and ignoring all of the nuance and messiness of life. Which is fine. You're 20 and you don't know any better yet. But if you're under the impression that it's not a sacrifice for a man to walk out of his door every morning and leave his wife and children to spend the day together while he slogs through 8+ hours - maybe in a cozy office, maybe down a sewer - your schema for men is … | /r/MensRights | 11/06/17 11:08 PM |
| 3 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? It just suggests that married men on average earn a lot more than their wives. Ergo, when they're together and their income is taken into account and split down the middle, her "half" is higher than her earning power. When they split, she can call upon (without alimony) only her own earning power for income. Given the apparently hypergamous nature of women, that makes sense. If you "marry up" your income increases. If you want your income to stay at that level, you stay married. | /r/MensRights | 11/06/17 10:53 PM |
| 4 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? Many of the choices we make in life carry risk. Women for whom the risk of being financially worse off should they divorce is untenable should ensure that they won't be financially worse off. They can do this by continuing to focus on their careers and either not have children, or place their children into the care of someone else while they work, like their spouse (as men with stay-at-home wives do) or other relative or childcare professional. That's equality. What's the problem? | /r/MensRights | 11/06/17 10:48 PM |
| 10 | Why do most men want their wives to help their economic progress, but not ensure anything in return? But if they then choose to go and be a factory worker instead, the hospital at which they previously worked does not continue to pay them a wage to ensure that they maintain the lifestyle to which they became accustomed while they were a doctor. | /r/MensRights | 11/06/17 10:19 PM |

Mimicry is a conscious endeavour, in the context of this thread. It's observing something and then copying it. It is impossible to "act" in that way while unconscious. You won't find citations for this, because it's not the sort of thing that is studied. It's a matter of definition of the word "mimic", rather than human behaviour.
