Homicide is actually a more general category referring to any killing of a human by another human, and murder specifically refers to unlawful killing—the two are not the same. I am always skeptical of the statistical representativeness of these studies, as I suspect they're largely done on WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) women, the vast majority of whom are steeped in feminist ideology.
