Expensive for who, the government? They have the money to put into childcare resources. The other difference is these cultures were founded on that principle and have continued with it, the culture shift you’re talking about in the US (especially with a HUGE democratic population) is going to be nearly impossible. We’re talking about changing peoples fundamental beliefs on relationships. Practically speaking, this “shift” would take awhile to achieve so why not try and save the most lives we can…

Yes we could strongly discourage sex (which has a very low likelihood of succeeding), OR we could provide more resources so that people have better access to contraceptives, universal child care, paid medical leave, etc.

I think it’s a great idea. It would be awesome if everyone had the money and stability to raise a child, or the funds and accessibility to get tubes tied/vasectomy.

You’re right, tubes tied and vasectomy have very low risk. But lots of people don’t have access to these procedures, especially women who want tubes tied. Most people rely on typical methods like condoms, IUD, birth control

Birth control is not 100% effective. IUD’s can get dislodged and result in pregnancy.
