Its a very worthwhile investment IMO. Even though this documentary is kind of persecuted, its still available on several streaming services at a modest price. I also highly reccomend watching the bonus material on Cassie Jaye's Youtube profile. There she has stored several interviews which unfortunately were not included in the standard release.

I sadly dont remember the originator of this statement, but I consider it very thoughtworthy to paraphrase: When a man beats a woman, he does so with greater upper body strength. When a woman beats a man, she does so with the effective support of the institutions, the legal system and the general society assisting her. This makes the matter of "who does more damage" extremely, if not entirely circumstantial. I dont think training is all that relevant of a factor though. Most male commited violen…

Highly reccomended. The Honey Badgers are a female founded collective of mainly female, Mens Rights Advocates and anti-feminists. I personally think they make for some of the more interesting voices in this discourse. Partially since they are quite a diverse selection of viewpoints and often have (civil) disagreements in-camp. They are scattered all over and off the web though, in various sub-projects. So the most consistent way I have found to follow, is by their podcast: Honey Badger Radio. Th…

That point was adressed earlier though. I was wondering about time span for UK's criminal records.

"The government has said it is committed to reducing the number of people in prison to address the overcrowding crisis." This paragraph sounds somewhat promising. At least so if it the possible reform also motivated by the idea that institutionalization is likely not the end-all-be-all solution to crime, it is cracked up to be. Rather than only for the purpose of avoiding overcrowding. At least if there is a genuine consideration of how inprisonment is usually detrimental to non-violent offender…

"The former victims' commissioner Dame Vera Baird has told LBC that women guilty of low-level offences like shop theft or fraud should not be burdened with a criminal record for their entire lives." Out of curiosity: does the UK apply life-time criminal records, even for low level sentences?

The same policy is applied for DV in Sweden. "Look... look... we ARE making an effort to investigate and map out male victims too!" (By re-labelling them as Mens Violence Against Women, effectively sweeping said male victims under the rug, and artificially inflating the numbers of female victims.) But at least Sweden generally acknowledges trans-people. So kudos.

I get the impression that men who have undergone genital cutting are quite self concsious about it. Likely because it was done outside of their control, and its supposedly irreversible. Men generally dont treasure and embrace the victim role, the way many women do. Men generally seem quite bothered by appearing weak. And I believe that acknowledging this procedure as a trauma, is something that could make many men think of themselves as 'weak'. Because it was something done to them outside of th…

I have to strongly disagree. Women's opinions matter a lot, across the board. There are plenty of examples. Have intactivist men gotten any noticeable traction with their advocacy yet? A woman is not as easily silenced with the usual misandric slurs. And she will often grab people's attention more BECAUSE she has no skin in the game. And with how women are still considered the pillars of morality. Concencus: If a woman brings up a social issue, then it must be something valid and important. Well…

Pushing for increasingly divisive and sexist standards is progress... downwards. Just because there is change doesnt necessarily mean that said change will be for the better.

It sounds quite a lot like the dichotomy of gendered Hyper-Agency VS Hypo-Agency. I.e. the view of men being defined only by how they affect the world around them, but never how any given man may be affected by outside factors. Contra the view of women being defined only by how the outside world affects them, but never how any give womans actions (or inaction) may affect the world around her. Would you consider this an over lap?

Sorry about the late reply. I missed your notification completely. There is no need for apologies. Your post was all proper IMO. 👍🏾 'A' never showed up for the event, to my relief. But I did talk to my partner the night before, none the less. She thanked me for the vote in confidence, and insisted that she wants to be supportive. I have told my partner before about my history with sexual abuse, I just hadnt given the name of the perp up until now. I brought it up when we first met, because I sti…

I think I understand your point. But I dont think its a good equivalent. Parents tend the view themselves responsible for their children, in a way that simply does not compute in the other direction. I didnt raise my mother. She has never been dependent on me in that way. She has already spent several years angsting about the idea that my depression was caused by herself not being present enough. Adding the issue that I was abused by her friend... its a bad mix. I did decide to tell my partner a…

I will tell my partner. As Savagemaw reminded me, its her choice how she will respond to hearing this. But if she knows nothing, then I deprive her of that choice. And in all fairness, if she gives me any indication of wilding out, then I have my choice whether to cancel the event. But more secrets, means more ground for misunderstandings and deceit. Not a good foundation for a functioning relationship. I still wont tell my mom though. There is no possibly good outcome of her learning that her f…

I have slept on the matter. And I agree. Especially since I have shared an explicit promise with my SO that we should always strive for honesty. I.e. that I dont try to protect her from any uncomfortable knowledge or choices. Because by doing that, I would limit her agency. Thank you for the reminder. 👍🏾 I will tell her today, and ask that she respects my wish to not create any scene. She is a sensible person, so it shouldnt be any issue.

If I may offer my input. I know that I have criticised the presentation of some of your articles before. On account of them including the Not All Feminists excuse. Even though I do agree with that stance to an extent... its not sensible to accuse all feminists (as individuals) for what damage their belief system causes. I do believe that many of them genuinly have a good (if misguided) intent. But this far too easily gets twisted into the idea that the belief system in itself, should be elevated…

Sorry about the late reply. I was preoccupied and my mind wandered. Im speculating that its a founding reason, because its a very old premise. The notion of men being always the strong, competent 'get stuff done' class of people... and women being always the precious, fragile 'protected' class of people. I dont think its something recent. Sure, feminism may be exploiting this idea in order to gain power. But its seems to have been around long before feminism. I have heard male hyper-agency and f…

Yours is a very interesting point, which has been brought up a few times. But probably not enough. The concept of Hypo Arency VS Hyper Agency. Alison Tieman / Typhon Blue, of the Honey Badger Brigade has spoken at lengths about it. And I think she makes some very good points. https://youtu.be/DTxLpN3LOB0 I recently caught wind of Dr. Tania Reynolds, who actually seems to be doing detailed research on the matter. https://youtu.be/iR9tixOJSi0 I plan to look into more of her work. I am rather sceptical. From my impression, its not the label that is the problem. It is criticism of Status Quo, which is the problem. You may call it Mens Rights Movement, Mens Liberation, Care Bears United, or the Peoples Revolutionary Front Of Judea... As long you try in any way to question the hegemonic idea of 'men as always actors' and 'women as always acted upon'. You are going to come off as threatening to a lot of peoples world view and interests. Whether they be feminists, or tradcons.…

Female instigated proxy violence is more common than female perpetrated IPV? That I havent heard before. Do you by chance have a reference to the studie(s)?

Is there any reliable research on violence by proxy? It would definitely be very valuable data. But I imagine that it is also very difficult to prove or measure.

I meant across the spectrum. Not merely being the target of gendered insults. But also with how a lot of male specific chores tend to be taken for granted, and the costs not being acknowledged. The Hyper Agency vs Hypo Agency thing. How men commonly are given more credit for their accomplishments then women... at the expense of not being afforded as much compassion in times of need. But if you are vigilant about your boundaries, then so much the better. 👍🏾

The Honeybadgers made a good comment on this. About how it really is a fitting analogy. Toilets are meant to take all of the worlds shit and still keep up a solid front. They are an extremely important necessity, because without them we would be left to wade through our own filth. So my opinion is: de-weaponize that insult and own it. Much like homosexuals have largely taken over and owned slurs against them. How would society do without toilets? Likely not so well.

I have seen far too many. The MRM is fairly new phenomenon, so Im granting it the benefit of a doubt. Also, unlike feminism, it doesnt seem to have any codified dogma. The MRM is not inherently sexist, the way the feminist belief system seems to be. But there are still bound to be some bad actors, simply because of human nature. And as always, the perils of how succeptible we are to group think.

Im single, and currently not looking for any female company. Not because Im feeling antagonistic... women are still my fellow human beings and I appreciate them as such. In terms of friends, colleagues and relatives. I have merely become disillusioned about the prospect of romantic relationships, since I began paying attention to this Mens Issues stuff. Im still on the fence if I should have another go, or if I will have a more fulfilling life on my own. As of the moment, I cant come up with any…

Sorry about the delayed response. My work hours are seriously chaotic. Why oppose the male urge to support and care for women though? I believe it to be a major contributing factor to why we even have civilization and society to begin with. Its a good thing... in moderate ammounts, as with everything. Any excess usually becomes dysfunctional. Rather, I think there should be more of an effort to re-discover the female concern and care about men. Because despite what certain ideologies wish to cla…

Not saying that I necesarily doubt this either. Given how women's violence is largely excused, or ignored. But I will have to re-read some DV studies to speak more confidently on the matter. Girls are unfortunately not given the Talk, about how they need to keep their hands to themselves. And I have had enough girlfriends issue casual threats of violence towards me. Even though Ive been fortunate enough not to be hit more than once. None the less, sloppy or malicious presentation of stats can ea…

Doesnt that number apply specifically to uni-lateral violence? Admittedly omething which strongly seems like women are far more likely to perpetrate. But to my understanding, the most common scenario is bi-lateral violence. Although it seems like women are also far more likely to initiate physical abuse, that still isnt the same as 'women commit 70% of all DV'. Please dont make the same error as feminists, and twist the statistics to push the narrative. Lets be better. This issue is complicated …

Of course there is always bias involved. Self-scrutiny is brutal. My estimate that I did half of the cleaning is a matter of interpretation. Is washing dishes and vacuuming more, or less laborous than scrubbing the bathroom? And how often did we swap those chores? But besides that I dare to say that it was an accurate description. All of the non cleaning related chores fell on me. While cooking became entirely her department. My idea of injustice was not with the work division, since I could hav…

Agree. Communication is essential, and the Family Ltd is supposed to be a co-op venture. If she doesnt want to chip in more with the chores, then hiring a help is a valid option. Weighing options with Pros/cons.

Have you brought this up with her, in detail? I mean seriously, set the time aside to express to her what you expressed in your post? Because even though I do believe there is a lot of truth to your assumption about the division of labour. I dont think its done so much out of bad intent as it is out of genuine ignorance. It seems like women have a very difficult time grasping on a visceral level, that they sometimes may be unfairly advantaged... and that men sometimes may be systematically disad…

I belive it was Karen Straughan who said: We are so conditioned to look for misogyny that we find it everywhere. Even in some circumstances where it doesnt actually exist. And we are so calloused against misandry that we cant see it, even when it is being applied with a sledgehammer.

I dont know how useful this advice is, but... a friend of my brother is being battered by his partner, and when he has made motions to leave in the past, she has either threatened to file false rape charges. Or resorted to tears, to guilt him into staying. My brother, having given up on coercing the friend to leave, notified social services himself and said that it was out of concern for the children involved. Something which is partially true, since by his account, they are terrified of their m…

Not just women, but many men too. My conclusion so far is because it challenges so much of our conventional gender identities. Karen Straughan makes an interesting statement that feminism doesnt really challenge gender stereotypes, but rather re-inforces them. Since most of it seems to inherently concist of the Damsel In Distress narrative. IMO, women seem to derive a lot of their gender identity from the idea of being always morally superior martyrs. While men seem to derive a lot of theirs fro…
