What I suggested makes someone more well rounded, interesting, and grounded- instead showing up from a lacking place. OP already mentioned most of his mental space being occupied by chasing, to the point of degraded performance at work. He’s also asked for advice on how NOT to make women the main focus. Besides, women can smell it.

Get busy building a life that’s fulfilling. Travel, get into hobbies that inspire you, meet cool people that level up your thinking and way of life. More fundamentally, work on finding your purpose. What lights you up? What makes you feel alive and good about yourself? Which one of those is something the world needs? Dedicate yourself to that, and you won’t find yourself so focused on women.

In which case, let them. If she’s so avoidant that even light vulnerability repulses her, real intimacy takes a loooong time to develop- if it ever does. Vulnerability is a great polarizer. No need to gush, but it’s a great way to evaluate emotional availability.

This is everything. I’ve been struggling with my anxious attachment style and I’ve been in therapy for years. Just recently I started meditating every morning. In the meditation I really focus on the kind of man I want to be- who I really am when I’m not trying to affect an outcome. Strong, witty, playful and full- not seeking anything from anyone just offering my energy and attention. Thank you for posting, I’m feeling aligned with where I’m headed.

Needed to read this. Am currently experiencing this after a couple months of connecting intensely with someone. Definitely spending too much time thinking about her. I’m dating around and taking time away from her to try and cool myself off.

Something simple, inexpensive. I don't like throwing a lot of cash and time at someone I barely know. Unless I've developed a lot of rapport ahead of time. Usually it's meeting for a drink. Bouncing between a few fun places. Maybe playing pool, go bowling, or some place with a rooftop patio. I try to find places I know well, where we can both relax. Other times I've met women and just go for a walk in a park. Doesn't really matter. I'm just focused on getting to know them and having fun. Light K…

Truth. I've gone on a few dozen first dates (tinder) since about February this year. I've found far success when I've planned the date. I've tried having her plan the date, but it usually ends up really expensive and pretty lame. I thought it might be a good way of learning about her and what she's into, but it's really just a crap shoot. I end up looking lazy and indecisive. Op is right, take the lead. Try to be sensitive to what she likes, but be decisive. Don't ask her what she wants to do, a…

What I meant about what you quoted was that I started paying attention to how things affected me, rather than what was affecting me. Ex. Girl flakes after seemingly solid connection. Instead of focussing on how shitty that is, I focus on why I feel shitty about it. I keep digging until I find out why I'm so bothered (for me, girls = validation). Analogy: I used to smoke (~5yrs). I didn't like that I smoked and wanted to quit. I focused on where the craving came from (boredom, partying, etc). The…

Your post was long, and I understand the feels. I'm going to focus on two big things you can work on. 1) self esteem. I have low self esteem issues as well, and it comes down to what you believe about yourself. Fixing this takes a lot if self reflection. Therapy helps a ton. Everybody has different reasons for why they feel low about themselves, but addressing these reasons and changing how you see yourself is critical. 2) Outcome independence. We can't control anything, only how it all affects …

You and I have a lot in common, amigo. I will say that it seems like your issue is more with your inner game. Maybe something you should ask yourself is why you're here? Do you want a girlfriend? A wife? A casual relationship? Many casual relationships? When I read what you wrote about these girls, girl #1 seems selfish. Not really committed to LDR bf, and clearly enjoying you in the side. Now this wouldn't be an issue, but what were you looking for? I know the feels of being replaced, but were …
