I never understood the 'get jacked' thing with other guys. I mean I think it's probably to do with celebrities and athletes that they look up to and believing you need to be ripped to get a girl. Also the fact that you have people out there who claim that the only way to build confidence is by lifting doesn't help. I mean having an actual personality is better than just being some roided up guy who's only talent is flexing.

Well shouldn't people be asking why they do this? If so many men are killing themselves then shouldn't we as a society try to teach these men that going to a doctor or therapist isn't a sign of weakness or whatever issue they have with seeking help.

Upper body strength is the sign of working class men anyway. They're more likely to have a manual job where they need strength. Stronger legs and abs are more associated with richer men and unless you're dating teenage girls being jacked isn't needed.

Yes but my point was about how easy it is to be thin not about how sufficient that is for getting women. Although being skinny is sufficient for getting women you may just not get everyone looking at you.

I'm saying that i don't see how it is easier for men to stay fit compared to women. I don't see how getting and keeping a muscular physique has anything to do with staying thin. I understand that he is saying women have it easier because all they need to do is stay thin-ish to be noticed and men need to work out more but I wasn't talking about being noticed just staying thin. Which is the exact same for both genders.

Yes but men are expected to build at least a little muscle, women just need to have no too much fat... Building muscle isn't an excuse to be fat. Men and women both just need to have a low amount of fat.

You said men were supposed to build muscle at least and I was saying that the woman in the picture doesn't have muscle she's just fat but even if a man looked like that he would still be fat as well. No matter if it's a man or a woman, fat is fat is basically my point. Both of them should be thin and 'building muscle' isn't as excuse to be fat.

So the only difference is a man might need to go to the gym. I mean you can get a good body by doing sports not just going to the gym and everyone should be doing sports or going to the gym for exercise anyway.

Yeah but if you are actually working you shouldn't get fat. If you're going to the gym or running or playing sports you aren't going to look fat you will look toned or ripped. Also I think being slim takes more work than being fat since you still need to exercise and eat well unless you are naturally skinny.

It can be extremely simple to stay in shape as a woman. It's extremely simple to stay in shape period. Unless there is an actual medical reason for it you should be able to stay in shape. That goes for men and women.
