I just posted about my „I want to be your prince complex“ many of us have. It’s a wake up call. Wake up! We have been fooled that there is a women who will truly appreciate that commitment for life. Trust me, I see how I neglected self love and love by more than by one partner , your „princess“. Being loved by family and friends is so much more. We can do it, we have the he strength within.

Wow. I can’t believe how many of us are the true romantics and a prince at heart just to be broken by a girl who we thought is a princess. No matter how my own situation being at a being of a divorce and my marriage hanging on a thin string, what I am going through tells me a lot about how I need to change …..

I feel you. I am in the same boat right now. I see the look in my wife’s face of disgust for a week after she saw a picture on my phone a week ago now calling it a Deja Vu. We went though seemingly successful therapy for a year and stopped 6 months ago. She said yes to a session, but my fears are I am in the same boat as you. I feel that gut wrenching sensation.

I think you should definitely understand her side first, you dont know what she thinks at this point in time and how she could change in your relationship if you dont ask. I would simply ask her during marriage counseling. You are a good guy and really wanted the marriage to work for you. Too many people just give up.

Accept the fact that your son is going to be a very different person you think you want him to be or trying him to be. That has nothing to do with the current situation or religion. I am not separated yet but realize that any control of what your kids would become with joint custody will not work and is wishful thinking. Be a good dad, a good person and don’t try to control. As long as there is no direct danger to your son there is nothing you can do, just let it go.

Your change will not happen in a month, if there is agreement on trying you need to give it more time to change yourself

That is so true. I think we are more likely to fall into the trap of the status quo bias in a long term relationship and marriage. We just give in to what life and our relationship is, we don’t want change even though things are bad and don’t want to think about it. Now it often happens to both partners and here we are. I think the way I see it now would be a plan to 1.Find yourself again like you would as a single person, to be ALIVE 2. Ask your partner to do the same. 3. Give it a deadline to …

I think we have the same pattern of how we feel about family, marriage and commitment. We are „romantics“. I was just told about separation on Friday. I used to have commitment issues with women not with fidelity, but with trust, but thought my wife is the one I can truly trust she would never leave me unless I cheat (which ironically she thinks now even I did not). She has the biggest heart. During my last 8 years I was 1000% in, I want the family I grew up in with parents married for 50 years.…

I think the end of a marriage has so many levels…I feel you and that’s also part of when my wife just now said this weekend she is done. It’s really not overnight even though it feels that way. I feel I’m all in or not, black and white, with my heart and one thing going through couples therapy is that it needs to be ongoing daily active work and commitment with both partners to address everything. We were better 6 months ago and fell back into the daily routines, thoughts and behaviors with each…

I have been deeply involved with stoicism and philosophy for a year and a half in my marriage going through couples therapy. I learned a lot, but nothing prepared me for the shock of this weekend when she said she is done. Now you found reason to move on? Memento Mori just means to me it just happened and I’m dead.

Well the details are that a year and a half ago the photos were more explicit…and we went through couples therapy, I changed a lot in the process. Now was a very trivial public photo of Facebook. She thinks I’m secretly wishing to be with her friend and have fantasies about her which I clearly don’t, calling it a Deja Vu. I don’t know if she actually changed which I thought she did as she had a lot of self worth and anxiety issues about her self worth with being cheated on and left by ex boyfrie…

I’m so sorry you feel that way. I’m sure many here had it in the past and it’s coming now to me after my wife told me she is done this weekend and already looked at dates to see an attorney. My family with 2 little daughters is everything to me and I have no friends. I think there are many like us, but how do we deal with the quietness without the one and only family members?

I realize that there is so much resentment with little issues building up and what to do as a man, give in to everything called “compromise” but ignore personal red lines?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
