5'7" is a bit of a funny height that way. It's tall enough to be taller than most women but still shorter than most men. I like my height but wouldn't have minded being a couple of inches taller.

I'm 5'7" too. I have a strong preference for tall men and all my boyfriends were tall (5'11" plus) with one exception who was only about an inch taller than me and while he had some great qualities his insecurity about his height got really tiring. I couldn't care less what height short pickmeishas think I should have dated. What's attractive to me is what's attractive to me.

This is true but I don't think that means short girls have to give up on an attraction to tall guys simply because they are in some sense "stealing" a guy who would also be desirable to tall women. There are lots of tall guys. 6'+ guys outnumber 6'+ girls by more than 100-1. If a tall guy ends up with a short girl instead of a tall girl then very likely that's his preference.

Absolutely. The idea that women should feel defensive about this attraction, let alone have to explain and apologise to short men for it, is just another example of female socialisation. Men do not have the slightest scruple about rejecting women they do not find attractive. PS: the tag "level up" seems particularly appropriate here
