There's a difference between falling for someone and caring about them as a human being. No matter what anyone says on this sub, I don't believe you should not try to kill your emotions. Repressed emotions always sublimate as something worse. I want to see this friend (with benefits) have a successful relationship because I like her as a person, and we all know that a successful relationship does not start with a Tinder fuck. I'm moving across the country and have known for a while, the last thi…

Think you missed the point EDIT: Wow, this became the top comment? This sub is really going downhill. Clearly I don't have feelings for this girl... if I did, maybe I would have committed (maybe). As I said in a previous comment, any girl who cheats is not worth an investment. I was watching the events unfold while I got low-effort great sex.

Didn't want to make this any longer than it needed to be, but since you asked, this is how I explained things to her. She had just moved to this city, and I am moving away. It's unfair to either of us to be exclusive - if she were to meet someone she thought she might have a future with or could start a relationship with, who am I to say that she shouldn't pursue that? However, I am not looking for random hookups, let alone using hookup apps, and I'm not comfortable being with someone who is. If…

I wasn't invested in this chick at all. I mean if a girl can cheat on the boyfriend she lives with, she's not worth an investment. I was just enjoying the sex and watching the thing unfold. Women are just not a priority in my life right now, and I was getting extremely low-effort sex from a girl with a great body. No complaints here.

r/thathappened... This post wreaks of autism. Unless you live in like a farm community or that chick was ugly as hell, that text did not work.

You [g]ave away your commitment way too quickly. Yep, 100%. Shocked that something like that could spark a ghosting, but I knew the moment I agreed that I'd made a huge mistake. Admitting to reading trp is Admitting to being a fake alpha . no Bueno Yeah, that's fair. I never said I subscribed to it, and I made sure to distance myself from TRP when she brought up particular advice. I'm fairly up front with women about how jaded I am about the dating game. It lets them know that 1) I get laid, I'v…

Well this is an interesting perspective, and I assume by your username that you're a woman. The thing that really confuses me about this is that on an intellectual and emotional level, we really did seem to have a connection. I'm an emotionally intelligent person - I have some feminine qualities that put me in tune with that mindset, and although I have to fight the behaviors that follow, I can read people pretty well. The sex wasn't bad - it just wasn't that one night stand fuck session. First,…

I live in Chicago, and we have burner parties every month or so. There are also local Burning Man events where there's a legit effigy burn - they're like microcosms of the big burn, and there are local burns leading up to the big burn in the desert.

Sorry this has taken me a while to respond to, I'm not always logged into this account. I'd say I have many of your same characteristics, but because I work in a very social industry, I've had to adapt. I spent the first three years of my young professional career working from 8:00AM-8:00PM at a PR agency then coming home to write for at least one hour every day. That was my rule - at least one hour. So when I say TRP and writing conflicted, I don't mean TRP theory so much as I mean TRP advice h…

I realize this is not the thrust of your post, but look at the way you, a writer, worded this: that earlier this year, I was dating a TV talk show host, so I know I'm not a loser The underlying structure of that sentence says, "I base my value on the people around me." What if Shakespeare hadn't cranked out Hamlet because he didn't like being alone very much? I'm a writer, too, so I know that writing and TRP make for a strange combination. My most productive, "value-building" time is spent alone…

Most women and girls ALREADY KNOW everything we talk about here. They see it and live it plain as day. I'm not so sure about this. After years of frustration in trying to call out some of these behaviors (prior to finding this community), I honestly believe that a large portion of women don't know what they're doing. They're just following instincts and instant gratification.

I hear you, and I don't disagree with what you wrote. My point is that even if the roles truly were reversed in this specific case, the outcry (which I imagine would be extremely minimal) would not be taken seriously. The satire is only effective if it's pointing out a real double standard, and I just don't think it's present in this story.

The first few Mad Max movies were certainly not feminist in my reading. There's an underlying warning that one could argue clashes with the TRP manifesto. When The Road Warrior (the second Mad Max film) opens, you see a traditional couple that symbolizes the nuclear family unit. The traditional expression of sexuality - the one man and his one woman (can't remember if there's a child in there too). The Mad Max series is filled with weird interpretations of sexuality - the bad guys are hypersexua…

Ha I don't disagree with you. It's just that faint blue pill dream that'll always whisper to me - that a relationship should be a partnership rather than an opposition.

I liked it, good read. To this line: ( this is the lesson for me, and I would appreciate your input on this as well. When I ignored her while she was hitting me to get my attention, I thought I was making the right play, she took it as me not being interested? and then immediately jumped all over my buddy. She began running the same “look at all the places I have travelled game”, again not showing any pictures of her husband) This is a fascinating phenomenon, and I have yet to meet a woman who d…

Man, this is brilliant, but it seriously makes me fear for the future of romantic involvement. As if this sub's realizations about feminism hadn't done that enough already.

Fair point. I don't necessarily see "avoiding competition" and "seeking out competition" as a binary. To use your Chimpanzee analogy, an alpha chimp values other strong males in his tribe, but he doesn't go out seeking other alpha chimps to combine harems. But you're right, competition makes you stronger.

The thing to keep in mind is that you are not really competing with other men, rather you are competing with yourself. I have to say, I disagree with you here. Dating is a zero sum game. If he gets the hottest chick, I don't. As much as I like the idea of having a pack of fellow alphas, I find that the ones I get along with are the ones I've known for years. Maybe it's just me, but I have no incentive to go out seeking alpha strangers as new friends.

Totally agree with all of this. And extra emphasis on not treating this guy as the TRP champion. TRP isn't a loud movement like most social media groups.

I highly recommend balancing some of that seduction/self help stuff with more intellectual readings like Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. You won't see it recommended on Reddit often, but Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces was life changing for me. I read it every year or two now.

Well two things here - in my industry, office romances come and go frequently. As do temps. She reports into a different department, so I have no professional contact with her - we just happen to work in the same place.

Okay, I'll bite. Here's the thing - I've always been a bit of a loner. I went to an all male school for 6 years (that's the norm for private high schools/middle schools where I grew up). I've spent plenty of time with guys, and I don't find the male mindset any less discomforting than the female mindset. I have some awesome guy friends who are closer to me than anyone, but I don't have much desire to seek out new dominant men in the social (sexual) arena. I hang out with a lot of women because t…

I'm not aligned to the TRP mindset of having 0 female friends. I have a fair number of female friends. It helps me understand them better (not necessarily by taking their word as truth but by understanding thought processes, etc.). I've essentially "friendzoned" her since my initial slip up in hitting on her at the happy hour. She knows I'm successful with women. This was her way of pushing our conversation towards sexuality.

She now has literally dozens of new branch options to scope out, which, even if none immediately materialize, will get her into "upgrade mode" and pouring over all your potential shortcomings with a fine tooth comb. Exactly. While I appreciate the advice in the other comments here, this is the tweet-length, well-articulated summation of the workplace hypergamy phenomenon.
/r/TheRedPill28/04/15 09:01 PM

Yep, hear you. My industry is a little different than the norm because my office is full of beautiful women (at least compared to the average workplace). Office romances come and go very frequently for most people in my office - I'm actually an outlier for being single and not pursuing an in-office romance. So obviously I'm still treading a line here, but in my office's social landscape, what I'm doing tends to slide under the radar. Unlike the chick that got drunk at the holiday party last year…

That's a fair point about her necessarily perceiving your SMV as being equal simply because you LTR'd her. Still don't think the Sallies negate the Chads. Every guy out there as a use for a Sally, but Chads dominate the market on the opposing side.

Do you think only single girls attend bachelorette parties? The bride-to-be isn't the target, it's her married or engaged friends who are also at the party who are looking to compete with the single girls and show they're still "fun".

I've often wondered this. I live in the city, and the hypergamy runs rampant. The way I see it, you can either: 1) Go after a lower SMV than you and hope she retains the feeling that you're as good as she'll get long term or 2) Live somewhere that the pool of Chads is smaller and that you'll be among the highest SMV males in the general community (which I imagine is why so many families move to the suburbs) Great question, curious to see the discussion.

When you start to see that "Chad" is a relative thing, the implications of TRP are really frightening for those in LTRs. Every man faces a Chad. Chad is just the guy who is a rung or two above you in SMV. Even celebrities face "Chad" with their SOs as they rise to and fall from fame.

I personally think there's a bit of overemphasis on the excessive sexuality portion of TRP. It makes sense since so many of us come from sexually unsuccessful backgrounds, but when you're aware of the huge gap in the way people are treated based on their SMV, you're still set up for success.

The part of my art degree that was really valuable is the requirement that you can think critically and abstractly about whatever's put in front of you. Some people think art critique sessions are bullshit, but I thrived in them. My art and the ads I produce couldn't possibly be more different, but the ability to look critically at what's in front of me (be it ad or art) and verbalize what's working and not working is a skill that differentiates me in meetings now. If you ask one of your non-art…

Yeah, you're totally right in the strict sense of CT. The title is hyperbole - I'm specifically latching onto the phenomenon of how in any guy's life, the "Chad Thundercock" is the rival male with a higher level SMV. CT is always a threat to any man's LTR. That's what bothered and excited me most during the process.

Well it's the short game with married/engaged chicks. It's mostly opportunistic, and almost every "success" I had in that arena was by meeting randoms at bars/clubs. Bachelorette parties are a gold mine. Apart from that, the game is the same because the girls are the same. They've locked down their BB, but despite the ring, many are Alpha widows who still crave that AF.

I understand your line of thinking, and it makes a lot of sense. It's very utilitarian. Education can serve the purpose of preparing you to do a job. Education can also serve the purpose of training your mental processes. I majored with 3 degrees in 4 years, and while my Advertising degree got me in the door of my first agency, my Fine Arts degree set me up for success once I secured my first job.

Yeah, that's ridiculous - art history is one of the least creative classes I took in my art degree (I ended up going after 3 majors in 4 years of college, one being Fine Arts). The "problem" of facing a blank canvas and trying to "solve" that visual problem is a truly creative exercise. I actually work in ad creative/strategy. In such a female dominated field, I find that decisiveness and analytical thinking really differentiate me, which is why I've been able to progress much more quickly than …

Ha thanks. I see a lot of the "Go STEM or don't go to college" talk pervade most of Reddit. I'm glad I never got that advice when I was in school because I would never have excelled.
