Uh, no. You might want to do some reading about privilege. It's actually pretty interesting, although you've made it to be the exact opposite of what it actually is. There is male privilege, not much, and in selected ways. You can be an MRA and still admit that there is some male privilege. Not admitting privilege is just to do what a lot of feminists do, complain about problems while admitting to no advantages.

If you think it's bad for black dudes, just imagine what it's like for gay dudes on this forum, and other forums. When I first became interested in the MRM, about 10 years ago, I had several forums ban me for either mentioning I was gay, or bringing up a gay mens' rights issue. It hasn't improved much since then. I've had people tell me that I can't be a MRA because I'm gay, and don't have children, and that I'm a 'feminists' pawn' etc.

This. I don't get this. The Preamble says that we aim to set up a system that provides for the "general welfare". All this non-sense about taxes. Are they pleasant, no, of course not, but they are necessary. It's an absurdity to think that the Nation can survive on voluntary taxing. And yeah, this is, I though, a Men's Rights forum, which should transcend political divisions, because all parties have fucked men over. But I guess it's become 'Liberals Suck Forum' instead. No one is forcing you to be a citizen. If you really feel that taxes are "theft" and not say, "membership fees" then, as the republicans love to say, you can "just get out" Really. I haven't seen any supposed liberal opposed to free speech. There is the area of hate speech, which is kind of foggy, and possibly could be a thing, especially if it can be shown to be related to dangerous or fighting words, two classes of speech that already aren't protected by law. I think you may be confusing "not liking what you say personally" with "opposing free speech". Just because you have free speech doesn't mean I have to love the words dropping out of your mouth.

I dunno about this. Collective action is important. Just look at how good countries like Sweden, Norway, Finland, etc. are. A lot of that isn't done via laws, but done via collective union action. Yes, individual rights are important. But individuals can form collectives of varying size. I don't think it's an 'either/or' thing, but a 'and/both' thing.

The problem is that it's not public health insurance. It's still private insurance companies, with some new regulations, such as ambulances being a requirement in all plans. If you can't get insurance, you can go on the state's insurance, like before. And it's not really all that great. I can't afford insurance, and am on my state's medicare plan. I get decent primary and emergency care, but only emergency dental and no vision or mental health. I wish we had the european system, personally.

He clearly had this image, probably based upon his father, of being a wealthy, European aristocrat, with a beautiful blonde woman on his arm, showing everyone else just how much better he was than them. Have you read his "manifesto" it's really gross and tortuous. But if you do/did you'd see that the only person he didn't hate was himself, the "magnificent gentleman" as he seriously did call himself repeatedly. One of them considers herself part of the "movement". Another I've talked with about a lot, and then she goes and argues with her very hard-line feminist mother about this stuff all the time. My cousin (girl) has been on sites, and she's told me they make her uncomfortable with all the actual misogyny on the sites. She says there are good points, but there's crap too.

Thought: It only seems like it doesn't have a mutilated appearance to you because you're so used to seeing mutilated penises. If tomorrow, Western culture decided (again) that the left hand was evil, and deserving of it's old Latin name (manus sinister), and we all cut off our left hands for generations. I don't think there's discrimination going on. I think we've discouraged men from being teachers. We've told them it's unmanly. We told them to be bankers and lawyers and doctors. But not teachers. That's a woman's job. If we want boys to have more male role models as they grow up, we need to encourage more men to be teachers.

I certainly agree with your analysis. As something of an outsider in the LGBT community/movement. So I've been able to observe it and straight culture. One of the reasons I've followed MRM, is because I've seen the thread of feminism through both of them. I tried to do some work with mra online, but was never welcome. So my comments stem from those experiences, and envisioning growing the movement with the help of gay men. I hope you have an excellent Yule or Christmas.
