Of course this “study” would say they. Look at the source. Can’t have a debate where the premise of the discussion is founded on BS.

Just say you want to be misogynistic without frantically creating a fabricated presumption of what women absolutely need in a partner, without being a woman - or seemingly ever consulting one. This is gross. While also, of course, ignoring the evident stringent beauty standards women experience. Eating disorders, who?

No she’s not. I’m also gen Z, and this is such a hyper inflated list intended to drive misogyny when there is no need. Ridiculous.

Evidently ofc, but then my point remains that these people who were in long term relationships that ended… likely aren’t on dating apps looking for love again through those avenues. More likely than not, they’re hoping to meet someone as they had the first time; through IRL connections. Further, like you said in your post, you previously engaged in hookup culture, and many women may find that difficult to understand if they’re looking to go from long-term relationship to long-term relationship. …

I agree - and I do understand, but it’s the unfortunate aspect of dating seriously at this point. I’m in my early 20’s, and everyone is dating for long-term at this point. My partner and I are quite serious, as are all of our friends and their significant others. But I think that’s why it’s hard… most everyone is already hoping to be with the person they’re with for the long-haul. Those who are left, are interested singularly in hook-ups and casual dating. :( You’ll probably also have more luck …

I think you should talk to the women in your life. It wasn’t that they valued relationships more, it was that they had no choice. So many women were miserable, but were without agency and had enormous societal pressures that prevented a deviation from cultural norms - even if that deviation would’ve been more fulfilling. The divorce rates have declined - and in tandem have marriage rates. As cultural norms fluctuate and increase in leniency, people haven’t had to marry out of cultural pressure -…

You’re not meeting long-term matches… because you are a) 35 b) looking on a dating app c) your mindset. “Feminism” isn’t the problem, it’s the reality that most of those who wanted to date long-term, began doing so ten years ago. Also this whole post reads as intolerable… and very much “women are the problem!!! it’s not me!!! I’m so desirable!!!!”
/r/PurplePillDebate28/12/22 12:33 AM

C???? Evidently everyone is looking for something different in a partner, but people who are looking for long-term relationships are usually put off by immediate sexual advances. If you’re looking for a relationship that is primarily sexual (in which romance takes a backseat), then that approach probably works well. IF your goal is romantic, leave anything sexual until it feels right. If you’re aiming to have sex ASAP or within a narrow timeframe, it’s obvious and uncomfortable. It feels dehuman…

Majority of couples meet through means outside of online dating. Regardless, the point is now deviating from OPs.

But again, it’s a different situation. These men approach these women with such ease because all they want is sex. Today, there is not the demonization of casual hookups that there may have been decades ago. It’s much more casually regarded. It was expected, then, that the man would be (at least to some degree) emotionally invested. These days, that isn’t expected of men. So, of course, women are getting a different type of attention; but it’s not about dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 05:19 AM

As in, men weren’t getting male attention, but female attention instead. Sorry the wording wasn’t clear.

Beautiful women have always had both. Do you think people stopped caring that women were hot? In what world?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 05:10 AM

No? It’s a YouTube comment. It’s not accurate. 💀 I know lots of beautiful older women, and they have never lacked options. Truly beautiful women have always (for better or worse) had male attention. The reverse being true for beautiful men.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 05:07 AM

That’s a YouTube comment.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 05:04 AM

That is not how women work, because beautiful women have always had many options. Outside of the highest echelons of attractiveness, women have many options for sex and sex only. This is what dating apps have provided women; a bounty they do not want.

Social media does not mean that an entire generation of young girls (my generation) has utterly shifted our perception of the dating scene, to such an extent that data studying a similar phenomenon, is out of date only ten years ago. This issue could be boiled down to: women are people, people have preferences (just like men do), sometimes those preferences are very important to those people, sometimes they are not. Do men (typically) like short and thin women? Yes. Does that mean men will only …

22. Because apps extrapolate shallow preferences beyond what they’re supposed to be (momentary judgements that do not supersede true comparability), they are not comparative. Women prefer tall men, men prefer short women - this is not a surprise. However, the impact of height preferences on IRL interpersonal connections is negligible. Height is a minor preference, and does not overshadow all other factors.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 04:28 AM
-1

What? No, it’s not an indirect correlation - it’s a non-correlation. Apps aren’t fair reflections of dating and marriage preferences; apps are a meat-market.

I want to comment just to boost yours, but I think I have to add content so it doesn’t get deleted. You’re absolutely correct, and if I may add, I’m guessing that the vast majority of Bumbles user base is skewed quite young. I have to imagine older adults use apps more akin to OKCupid and sites that similarly allow a more long-form written response - thus allowing a more thorough glimpse into the potential dating partner. Apps like Bumble and Tinder are really quite shallow by their nature, and …
/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/22 03:56 AM

But dating apps are not a fair judgement of real-life dating factors. There’s going to be arbitrary requirements based on looks alone… because appearance is the only defining factor. This doesn’t typically translate outside of this niche and restrictive medium.

This. I think it’s more likely that he mentions my height (short) than the reverse. When I’m talking about my boyfriend, his height is never even part of the conversation… even when physicality is the focus.

Women aren’t a monolith. Women are people, and some women care about superficial attributes in a partner, and some don’t.

Look up statistics on female fantasy - that will remove the potential (though I believe negligible) skew of those unable to date or marry within preferred age-range.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/10/22 09:50 PM

No, my point was if these men were younger and had ample resources, that would be preferable! Further, if these older men didn’t have resources, that would not be preferable in these transactional relationships. Also, haha. No, most women much prefer a man in their age group, if the relationship goal is to have a partner or connection. Significant age-gap relationships are an outlier. obviously not remarking on minor age-gaps, ie, up to 4 years
/r/PurplePillDebate11/10/22 07:58 PM
5

Because it’s not that women are attracted to older men because they’re older, it’s because these men may have used their time to resource collect. These relationships are usually stereotyped as older rich man and trophy-wife young woman. It’s symbiotic. Most young people looking for real relationships are aiming to do so on the basis of connection, not transaction. As such, it makes total sense they would prefer someone in their age group.

Multiple studies have indicated that dating apps are not a good basis of real life standards or attraction! In real life equivalents (IE, speed dating) those standards aren’t prevalent factors. I would look at attractiveness equivalency in dating couples. All the data suggests couples who date quickly after meeting one another are likely to be and prefer an equal attractiveness partner!

Can you really not possibly conceive that privileged groups are not going to always be aware of the ways in which minority groups suffer? Lol. Just google “victim blaming .edu”. That’s how you educate yourself as a non impacted member of a societal issue. https://inside.southernct.edu/sexual-misconduct/facts https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/victim-blaming < here’s an index of some cases. It’s not hard just. Utilize google. It’s not a niche phenomenon.

I’m surprised people still don’t realize how common victim blaming is. Are you close with many women in your life?

Yes, but those power imbalances are still inherently problematic.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 11:46 PM

Because it can be actually dangerous for young women when the power dynamic is turned so against their favor; both as a result of gender roles and age.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/01/22 12:58 PM
1

“Women don’t do things they don’t want to do…” ?! What?! This sentence alone implies you’ve never once even been within sniffing distance of a woman; certainly not emotionally close, at the very least. Women do things they don’t want to do ALL THE TIME to preserve the relationship or feel, finally, as if they may get some level of affection or kindness if they perform acts their partner is vehemently pressing on about. Beyond that, men frequently do coercive things to force women into sexual act…
/r/PurplePillDebate08/12/21 10:56 AM

That is accounting for that. It’s less for women.

The average waist size is a much better indicator, and it’s now 40.2 inches. Anything more than 37 inches puts you at an increased risk. More than 40 is substantially increased risk. This indicates that men have an unhealthy amount of abdominal fat. Muscle, obviously, is leaner, and would not affect this measurement without a substantial amount of adipose tissue.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/19 12:25 AM
2

The only men who have a BMI of almost obese (as in the case of the 5’9” 200lb man example) and aren’t unhealthy, are serious weight lifters and those are not the average people. BMI has a LOT of leeway, and is more likely to regard people as more healthy than they are, than the opposite.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/11/19 12:21 AM
25

Any “sexism” men experience is a result of a societal structure that sees anything feminine as inherently negative. Men aren’t allowed to dress in a feminine way? Why? Because femininity is seen as weakness. All the complaints men have about “sexism” are deriven from a societal dislike of feminine energy. ALL of it is just misogyny.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/11/19 05:29 PM

Strategize and systemize dating sexual behaviors to compete with other men desperately vying for sexual gratification. If there weren’t so much competition, would you have to behave this way? It seems to me men should just stopping hitting on women to alleviate competition.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/19 08:12 PM

Sure, but it certainly feels like if men stopped pursuing women so aggressively it seems like there’d less of an issue. So how did women create the redpill?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/19 07:49 PM
1

“Women created redpill.” You would think men did, since the issue you describe is men pursuing women so avidly, women have options. IMO, if men stopped so aggressively pursuing women all the time, this wouldn’t be an issue.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/10/19 03:05 PM
1

But women, at higher BFs tend to store weight in places other than their waist, and can therefore carry more weight, to some degree, healthier. Men however, when they gain weight, tend to gain it in their stomachs, which is significantly less healthy. And most of my powerlifter friends, are BARELY overweight, if at all, so I can't speak to your experience. Bottom line, both genders are fat.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/19 02:26 AM
1

All we had based on this post was height and weight stats, so all you could do is assume BMI. Obviously I'd prefer waist measurements and BF, but how am I going to do that based on this post? Can't. Either way, if most people have an obese, or near obese BMI and aren't powerlifters, they're probably not completely healthy.

Please don’t! I didn’t mean to attack anyone, but rather respond to people who thought this was a women specific issue, and it was a moral failing on women’s part. My boyfriend is much shorter than you, and weighs more and he’s incredibly attractive to me. :)
/r/PurplePillDebate25/10/19 04:53 PM

Hey, please don’t worry. I get it, which is why I wasn’t going to go on the attack. I know it’s easy to interpret comments on the internet as much more negative than how they were intended. I wish I could write something more in length because I appreciate you taking the time to write your point of view, but I’m at work. If you’d like, please message me. I know sometimes it can be helpful to vent especially anonymously to an empathetic ear. I’d be happy to be that ear for you. :)

This has nothing to do with the main point of the post. Did I say men don’t have other issues? No. How do you know I don’t agree with you, and for your information i mostly do. What does this have to do with the parent comment? Women don’t feel fearful more often? Women shouldn’t because wars were spent to “protect us”? I mean what is it you’re getting at? Those wars intended to protect us frequently involved the raping and pillaging of women and villages. I mean? It doesn’t take away from the f…

Women work out more than men.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/19 11:53 PM
1

Ok, yes. That’s fine. But as I replied to another comment, my point about lifting was in response to another commenter who said women only apply makeup to appear attractive. I used my life experience as someone who lifts, and friends with other who do as well, to refute the idea that women don’t work out. Women DO work out on a huge scale; but they focus their efforts on class work outs and cardio. Which is just as legitimate! So saying, women only apply makeup up to be attractive, is altogether…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/19 11:32 PM
2

Even if they don’t lift, the point i was responding to was that men have it harder because they have to work out. So, yeah, I was using my life experience to discuss what I see in terms of women working out, but i was using that to refute the original commenter who said all women have to do to be hot is wear makeup and guys have to work out; girls, clearly, work out.

If you’ve been in those situations, you know that angering them is the last thing you should do. It’s much better to talk sweetly, and wiggle out of the confrontation as quickly as you can. Unless it’s escalating, but I’ve been lucky it never got that far with me. To your edit: that was not the case in my experience, they get more riled up.

When I was 16, I used to take public transport everywhere. I had to call my boyfriend on 4 different occasions to come picks me up because I was being harassed at a bus stop or on the bus. Your experience is your own, but saying women are paranoid for being weary don’t seem the least bit fair. Good for you for reclaiming your power, or whatever. But I’m going to keep my head on a swivel and be “paranoid” so that way I’m not caught unawares if something does happen. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for this! I’ve also noted that the increase in EDs for young ladies has shot up as well, so it’s not like young women are suddenly less pressured to be thin. 9/10 of people with eating disorders are women. Per your info graphic.

/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/19 02:49 PM

Yikes, no. But there’s a huge culture of women that lift and work out actively, and has become a part of our beauty standard. Ignoring that seems odd. “Women don’t...” ah, yes. Thank you for acknowledging that I, in fact, represent all women! To say that I shouldn’t generalize all women and their behavior because not everyone lives within my limited social circle or experiences, and then going on to generalize all women based upon your limited experiences is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen to…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/10/19 02:47 PM

And I think that’s shitty as well. Both are bad. Dating someone because you think you deserve to have X,Y,Z quality when you don’t have those qualities yourself is strange. Happening to date someone with those qualities, fine. But thinking you deserve those qualities when you don’t posses them is silly. For both genders.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/10/19 11:24 PM

Do you have stats for me? I can’t find any indicating a change over time. :)
/r/PurplePillDebate22/10/19 11:22 PM

I mean I don’t think that’s an issue at all IMO. Wanting someone who’s the same as you isnt an issue. Wanting to date someone who makes an egregious amount more money than yourself is strange to me, and I would think it odd for other women as well. Having a huge imbalance one way or another can cause issues in the relationship.

I don’t personally see that being the case.

Yes... Per my original comment. My issue IS with men (or people in general I suppose) who think THEY deserve people who put in WAY more work to their appearance or grooming than they themselves do.

What is wrong with wanting someone who puts the same level of work in as you? The heck? Besides, I said my boyfriend wasn't thin, but maintained personal care in other ways. It's not wrong to want someone who doesn't treat their body like a garbage can.

I'm not saying it's a problem to care about looks lmfao. It's cool to care about looks, but go after people who maintain the same level of work as you. That's all. It's not cool for either gender to be grossly overweight.

neither men OR women get a pass for being overweight. Neither. Fat people aren't considered attractive to either gender, and in fact, men value a low body weight more than women do for their partners.

At what point did I say women lift more than men? I was just saying it’s not like women DONT lift and DONT work out. Women do have to work out, and sure even if in your experience it’s only cardio women are doing (which isn’t my experience at all) that’s still maintaining a high level of fitness, no? Which means not all women are doing to be attractive is just lazing around and putting on makeup. Most girls I know don’t require men to be plucked all over and hair stylized every morning. That is …

I go to an all women’s gym, and the weights are a very active part of the gym. I lift, I do cardio, and so do all my female friends 🤷‍♀️ My guy friends may shave, when they feel like it, and do their hair sometimes. But I have guy friends that don’t even own a comb, much styling products. And a lot of guys think skin care is gay (which is obviously ridiculous) So then to your point that, what, it’s not effort at all to be a girl, I think we concede that CLEARLY it’s more than just “painting” our…

It’s crazy what some men feel they deserve. Like I work out regularly, diet, do my hair nails and skin care, dress nicely etc. but a guy who works out every other Tuesday thinks he deserves someone who puts in a way higher level of effort. I mean my boyfriend isn’t thin by any means, but he dresses nicely, shaves, accessorizes, wears cologne, does his hair and works out regularly. Why??? Bc if you want someone with a high level of self maintenance, you need to have high self maintenance. Smh at …

girls lift, bro. in fact almost every girl I know, myself included, lifts. And not only lifts, but diets (even though we have a way smaller BMR than the avg man), regularly has their hair done, their nails groomed, shaves or waxes their body, and maintains a skin care routine. Sure, not all women do this, but most women I know do some of all these things, and I don’t know very many men who do even one of these things. I mean all men have to do really is not be fat and have some muscle, fr.

This RARELY happens though, which is my point. Normal, nonweirdo men who approach women in a nice and charming way won’t suddenly be accused of rape, except for maybe by the coked up drug addicts, or the people with heavy psychosis... who probably are going to be discounted anyways. I’ve had guys harass me in public, physically and vocally, and a lot of times I was well within my right to call someone, but I didn’t. A lot of women don’t because it’s not worth the hassle.

I’m not saying women aren’t fat, btw, I’m just saying not all men are peak dating material in the US.

My BMI calculator says 5’9 197 lb man is MORE obese.

I think movies and TV just depict common behaviors in society. It reflects us and our behaviors today.

This is an anomaly and is incredibly rare. People accuse this of happening way more commonly than it actually does.

That’s why I used BMI. Not just weight. But even so, men tend to carry weight in their bellies which is, obviously... not the most flattering. Whereas women can store fat in their thighs, butt, etc. and still appear attractive. Obviously this depends on the individual, but men don’t get a pass for being overweight.

Yeah but a lot of men will shag anything in a skirt, but it does NOT mean they’ll date them. :(

Where I’m from as well in the US, I have a 22 BMI and am considered chubby or fat, so I’d KILL to be wherever this is. 😂

The average male stats are 5’9” and nearly 200lbs, which is fatter than the women. Americans in general are just incredibly overweight. It’s not a good look. Men and women need to make healthier choices.

women DO work hard. Arguably harder than men. Especially when it comes to personal grooming and appearance related activities.

we started dating when we were quite young so my “charm” had nothing to do with it. In interactions with any other people, I am considered very awkward.

As a woman, I wish I could live the life you’re depicting of the average woman. I have few friends outside of my SO, and consequently receive little support, empathy, or attention. I’m quite confused - where do I get in line to get my female privileges card? Must have lost it.

Hi. Me. I’m a woman and completely and utterly social inept. I know a lot of women who are like me. My boyfriend on the other hand is quite good at navigating the waters of social interaction and considered quite charming. I, on the other hand, am considered quite awkward. :(

Oh yeah totally. Ask them about homework, or what happened in class, or to bitch about the teacher. When I was in highschool, bitching about an annoying assignment was a sure-fire way to make friends, for some reason, ahaha.

You never know! My boyfriend and I are very happy and he’s an “ethnic” (I hate that word ah!) who is quite “short” and we’re happy!! But then again i am quite short as well, so that probably has something to do with it! And he’s also really quite handsome, so that’s another advantage. :) but again, you never know unless you try! Every gal is different.

I have not seen this in my life! Ahaha. I wish I could code switch like that! I agree it most likely possible, but so rare I’ve not seen it or been able to replicate this myself!

I would love that! That’s exactly what I’m trying to do as well. This is crazy. I went on a long trip to Europe this summer and had the same thing happen to me. :( I feel so gross! I’ll PM you!! :)

Personally, I have not seen this be the case. I have seen women appear to society as one way or another and be treated as such. Women who are more masculine presenting or carry those traits have a difficult time being seen as soft and feminine. I don’t want to use examples, because I fear they may be hurtful, but I suggest you imagine women who you feel are masculine in appearance; imagine them pretending to appear feminine and demure. It doesn’t always come off well for them, unfortunately. Ima…

This is not based in reality in my experience. :( these are two different worlds; either you’re considered “masculine” so you’re treated otherwise poorly by judgemental jerks, but you’re not talked down to. Or you have a softer, more youthful appearance so you’re treated more kindly, but people take you less seriously or sexualize and objectify you. I don’t usually see most women living both experiences.

my BMR is 1170. My boyfriends is 2700 IIRC. :( I hate it man. Just as hungry as him, but can’t eat nearly as much!

it's so annoying. happens in my family all the time. my male cousins never had to clean at family dinners (even though all the women cooked) because they said "women are better at it." What, you can't figure out a sponge? So irritating!

man children. Who claim that doing their own laundry or cleaning is "too complicated for them" or that their wife is just "better at it". More middle aged men than guys who are younger doing this, but i saw it in my family all the time.

I see this all the time, OP. I agree. I read an article a while ago, about how little men were willing to be vulnerable emotionally with their male friends due to the way in which men are encouraged to be emotionally stunted. Women, however, are more likely to be open with and to their friends. So who do men rely on to express themselves? Their partners. They receive most of the emotional burden.

If I was in another relationship, I wouldn’t mind if they were a virgin. I would know they wouldn’t have any STDs. 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know to whom this applies, but my SO and I both had our V card when we met each other. I was frankly happy to know that he hadn’t been with other people before me.
