"Cool. So now we will report you to Reddit for an entire ban on your IP." - mod of some subreddit who doesn't understand how IP's work

Why does reddit and certain reddit mods think it/they can legit 'ban' people? It is stupidly easily to circumvent any kind of reddit ban. It's all performative.

I cant even begin telling you how outrageously wrong this is. Mexican food aside, LA has some of the best food on the planet. Albuquerque doesnt even come close to LA level of quality. Like these are not comparable food cities to anyone who likes food.

I don't know anything about Texas, all of my Mexican food knowledge and experience is from AZ and Los Angeles.

Tamales are the worst Mexican food and I dont care what anyone says. I have lived in the southwest a long time. Every other type of Mexican food is better. Tacos, burritos, chimichangas, etc etc, it all kicks ass except for tamales which is dogfood for dogbrains (also the title of my memoir)

Lol I kno tis a yoke This happened to me and one of my exes once, we laughed about how I should press charges for her taking advantage of me without my conscious consent. I think its probably something that happens to most couples once theyre together long enough.

It is because no matter how wealthy you are that is an insane amount of money for a single event. Forty eight thousand dollars. It took me like almost a decade of dilligent penny pinching to save that much and I am one of the actually lucky ones. Anyone who demands even a fifth of that price for something like a wedding is retarded and belongs to the streets.

Of course we should. When did I insinuate or say otherwise? Oh, I know, I didn't, and you just tried to use this as a gotcha argument because you're assuming I'm part of some group I'm not actually a part of. Lookee here, it's almost as if you wouldn't look this retarded if you had just taken my original advice to heart.

In my opinion it is beneficial to be sympathetic to nearly every group unless they are outright causing physical violence. Barring that, all groups ought to be listened to and potentially helped. Outgroup human cooperation is really the only tangible way to solve significant problems. So no, I don't think going "hurr durr teh evil idiots deserve what they get and it is I who is smart and good" is effective. It's pretty much just snobbery and more othering.

Spoken like a woman who likely thinks she's the main character. Lack of sympathy for the evil others is a primary component of incel and rabid fem logic, it's always nice to see one end of a horseshoe tapping the other without realizing it. Lack of self awareness is another component, funnily enough.

There are a couple episodes in the middle there (4, 5, 6) that should be permanently on the sidebar. They basically perfectly encapsulate so many of the arguments here, so much so that I am convinced Mike White at least lurks here, if not posts regularly.

k. Men not only overrate their own attractiveness, they overrate their own skills and intelligence, too. I have never actually read a study that says otherwise. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/social-instincts/201507/when-men-arent-good-looking-they-think https://iradio.ie/men-think-theyre-better-looking-than-they-are/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8858829/ Also, it's not really "just men", ugly people tend to think they're more attractive than they are too: https://bigt…

I have already read the links. Do you understand statistics? Clearly not by your comment. With the right sample, a survey can make pretty accurate estimates from a surprisingly small sample. For example, iirc, with a random sample of 2,000 people you get a 95% confidence interval of something like 2%. It doesn't matter if your total population is 10,000 or 100,000,000, that margin of error doesn't get any bigger (actually with 10,000 or less it'll be a bit smaller). I think if you turn in a good…

Bro, it has an N=almost4k. It's a big enough study. If it was N=300 or something, you might have a point, but when data is collected from 4k people and that data is significantly different than the largest data set, that means two things, a) original data set probably has to be modified because it's not accurate anymore or never was accurate, and b) things have changed like they always do since we live on Earth, with humans. I don't give a fuck about your fake qualms with this. The growing body …

It is just the CDC. Anyone else who says the average number of lifetime sexual partners is 4-8 got their info from the CDC. Where else would they have gotten the number? Lmao I never said all data is measured or collected equally. I am saying there is an obvious problem pretty much everyone in the social sciences can see when they look at N count stats.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/22 01:11 PM
1

Actually "the stats", from many different places, say all sorts of different numbers. You are just in love with the infallible brilliant never-wrong CDC, a branch of the infallible surely always-right U.S. government. Your galaxy brain sure is shining rays of golden informative light down on all the morlocks today, Lift.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/22 01:08 PM
1

The only org that says the average lifetime N count is 4-8 is the CDC. So I can look at the CDC numbers and take them at face value. Or I can read all the numbers that I can find, including the CDC, most of which say a much higher number, and reach a conclusion based on all the current studies. If some of the current studies contradict one another, then it seems as though there might be a problem in number gathering.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/22 01:06 PM
1

We're not talking about casual sex, we're talking about lifetime N count. The CDC does not have infinite resources to constantly be doing social calibration studies lmao. That's exactly why independent organizations do the studies on their own. The CDC hasn't updated this for years, and if you think stats like this remain unchanged for that length of time you desperately need to go back to school.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/22 01:00 PM
1

Sure, there's tons of studies, and virtually none of the new ones say that the average N count is 4-8 basically anywhere in the western world (cause it's very obviously much higher to anyone with a social life/eyes), because those stats are from like 2007 and don't reflect reality.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/22 12:55 PM
2

I mean, how can you think the average person in the US has an N count of 4? I'm sorry, but that's clearly a bunk number from a very very long time ago. People thinking this number probably got their stats from like 2007. So are you saying nothing has changed within the contemporary dating landscape since then? No newer numbers ought to be tried for? Like... you can either look at the old ass stats, or start drawing (not necessarily causal) conclusions from newer ones. Sex is now greatly expedite…

Just fyi, updated stats on this dropped like a year ago, basically: "average" number of partners depends on where you are (aka varies state by state, which really does make a good bit of sense), and it's also higher now, about 14 bodies per person in the U.S. and higher virtually everywhere else in the western world.

Your little N500 study is so cute and good. I like how it somehow invalidates the 60,000 person study done by Chapman not all that long ago (2015). As usual, it seems as though the answers are somewhere in the middle, not "short men have higher sex frequency" > “These findings confirm that height is relevant on the mating market,” said David Frederick, Ph.D., assistant professor in psychology at Chapman University, and lead author on the study. “However, the relatively limited variation in sex p…

IDK, seems like you're just reading what he said uncharitably. Most of what he said seems fairly reasonable to me. Honestly your comments read a lot more condescending to me but that's just my opinion. I never said AI is a brain replica, just that if a brain could be replicated in a binary system, it stands to reason some kind of digitized mind could be as well. At that point, it's all just information anyway. I will note, I guess, that I don't think contemporary AI has anything to do with human…

I was dating 5 women at a time in 2019. It was cool at times. Most of the time it was a nightmare, would never go back or even try to go back . I don't have the planning and logistical skills to keep track of a harem of women. I dwindled it down to four--still too many. 3, closer, but still kind of a lot. Two is the perfect amount of women. Find a woman and find a side chick. Be happy forever.

Dunno bout him, but I have an MA in philosophy and most of my study was philosophy of mind research. You don't need a PHD in neurobiology to have a conversation about minds and AI. It certainly is complicated, and I agree with your take that no one should talk about it with certainty. That said, it's also true that everything at the moment suggests there is nothing in the brain that couldn't be replicated in silicon or whatever. That is because it is one of the greatest albums of all time, and you are clearly a person of culture and merit. Fun fact, DMST tunes their guitars randomly "until they sound good" and don't write down their tunings, so a lot of the time they have to re-learn how to play their own songs on the fly during live performances. Makes them even more impressive.

The best band no one has heard of is Do Make Say Think. I cannot think of a band with better mixing or production in general, nor can I think of a contemporary band that routinely has arrangements as complex or varied as they do. DMST has jazz songs, fully electronic songs, rock songs, pop songs, pretty much everything. Don't even try to listen to this without good speakers or headphones, you will miss a lot of what's going on. 3:50 - end of this song. The mix is stupidly good. Being able to har…

Hers is a tiny bit different, imo. Eve got to be with Ewan for his richest, best times and they were together for 22 years. She also got a gigantic financial settlement. I am pretty sure all Riley got is a metaphorical picture of Ewan fucking his ex with the caption "fuck you gay loser".

All I've seen is the first episode of the first season and I really didn't like it. Yes, I can get on board with that interpretation, the point was that your devotion to a cause/being genuinely good yourself (like Riley is) isn't necessarily enough to stop wandering eyes, especially if you're competing with people higher up the status ladder than you. Honestly it has always made no sense to me as a concept or a singular word. Everyone can be or act "narcissistically", but almost no one is a pure narcissist, you know, someone who would throw their mother in a well for a taste of their own beauty and or power. People generally use the word to mean "soulless psycho who only cares about themselves"... and it's like, why can't I genuinely love other humans (like I do) and also like myself?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/12/22 05:43 PM

There's a psychologist named Michael Kinsey who has done a lot of research on narcissism. I tend to agree with his takes. Narcissism is kind of a spectrum, and there's a lot of ways to express it healthily and, yes, even altruistically/beneficially. Hopefully the psychological literature will start slanting toward changing the term to something more gradient/delineation-friendly.

Sure, great, first the paper doesn't say "only upper body strength" it says "makes up most". Second, in the paper, it's defined: "including having wider shoulders [27–30], being physically fit [31], and having greater handgrip strength." So your shoulders can be perceived as "wide" even if you are skinny, as long as you have some upper body strength. Still, "average" bodytypes are chosen...never. Same with fat or super skinny. Soo...

I think the comparative sexual agencies of men and women are extremely different and one sex has a clear advantage in today's dating market. The average man's sexual agency isn't the same thing as the average womans and I think pretty much anyone who has studied gender dynamics for more than five minutes knows this. Average men are not sexual or relationship selectors, their preferences do not matter. Average women are both of those things, so their preferences do. Pretty easy. I wasn't trying to make a point that "helps", I was making a counter to a claim that was already made. The claim was that some women are ok with dating average men (which is the actually trite point here). The counter to that claim is that women are far more enthusiastic about dating athletic and or tall men, so it doesn't matter if …

Sure, I never said they didn't. In fact I explicitly admitted that some women are "ok" with dating average men. I just also think women on the whole, generally but not always, are more enthusiastic about dating a more athletic man, and their preference wouldn't be anywhere near "average". If contemporary women were to pick men of all body types out of a line up their most preferred body type would not be 'average', it would be incredibly fucking fit. Value in economics is constantly fluctuating and is never set. The price of a banana in 1988 is not the price of a banana now. First sentence and you're already objectively wrong. All value is subjective. The things you're asking aren't even what I was talking about. I never made any claims about being able to quantify any kind of values, or what people get in exchange for being high value, or any of that other shit. Also, even though you don't have the self awareness for this, I figured out you…

I already did answer it, though. The value of anything, humans or objects or anything, is determined by individual observers. There is no set price and there never has been or will be. It is all always subjective. So if you wanna think a human life is worth $5, go ahead, if you think it's priceless, go ahead, there is no wrong or right answer, it is all subjective. But people still making value judgements all the time about other people and they especially do this while dating and mating, and ho…

What I'm talking about is an economic principle called scarcity value, and I already did define it elsewhere in this thread. It's a well known and simple principle. Basically it states that an increase in an item's price is determined by its level of scarcity.

I mean, but, internal worth isn't the same thing as value. Having "value to yourself" makes about as much sense as getting married to yourself. Your individual value is not determined by your self esteem or how good you feel about yourself, it's determined by how others perceive your value (aka "how much they value you"). Lets say there's a multi-millionaire, but he pisses and shits in his pants all day and sleeps in a cardboard box and hasn't showered in two years. He never tells anyone he has …

I understand what you're saying, but you're touching on a concept called scarcity value--an item's relative price is determined by low supply. Everyone who has an IQ higher than like 85 is a "sentient, feeling" being. This is a metric everyone shares, thus its value is seriously degraded. When I look for a partner, I don't say, "I hope she's a thinking feeling human", because this is like the bare minimum lowest bar anyone needs to be considered a human. It's like saying "I hope she has a tongue…

I've been building a home studio for music production, there's a ton of cheap stuff for that, pretty much every audio interface I've searched for today has genuinely been about 50-150 dollars lower than the original price. Today I just bought a refurb Macbook Pro from 2020 for$600 (and it was the last one!), a pretty beefy one at that. Was like $200 off the price it was two weeks ago. A lot of the black friday deals I saw were dumb bullshit, but the things I've been tracking for the studio have …

It is a gigantic mistake. The whole comment simply ignores the contemporary dating landscape. That comment is true only idealistically. Modern women have now set the standard that they will fuck dudes they find attractive for free essentially right away. This is a precedent women set. If this is the way they want it, cool, good, I honestly am fine with it, but then it is only ever within a man's interest to fuck her for free, or not fuck her at all. What that comment misses is that most dating n…

I think it really depends on what you want and when you want it and how long you want it for. It also depends on how badly you need the money. Like if you're a 5'3 dude with no muscle mass and a fucked up deranged face... you need the money badly. You don't need it as much if you're 6'4 and ripped. I would be super interested to see any results to the Short Money Chad vs Impoverished Ripped Chad study. My hypothesis is that the Short money Chad would do much better in the long term, and would be…

You have your anecdotes, I have mine. In my anecdotal experience, men within the BMI range of 26-29 are fat about 90-95% of the time. If you don't wanna listen to statistics, all we can do is battle anecdotes and our experiences are directly contradictory.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/11/22 08:41 PM

you're talking about professional fighters. Most normal people with a BMI of 29 are fat as fuck. You're using anomalies as a point, which is pretty retarded. The average nominal person with a BMI of 26-29 is fat, don't know what to tell you, I recommend you open your eyes, this is not only statistically verified but pretty much anyone who has done any traveling at all (I have been to most of the states) can anecdotally verify this as well.

Works perfectly fine for me. https://source.wustl.edu/2015/06/obesity-excess-weight-in-us-continue-upswing/ Shame you haven't heard about the prevalence of western obesity. Everyone else has. Just you hasn't. Must be a lonely existence, not hearing about a very obvious thing everyone else knows about. Living in a dark cave alone with no internet or other human interaction must be very lonely.

Lmao. "Do my homework on one of the most well known western phenomena that everyone has already read about" There are...so many papers on obesity prevalence in the west. I mean this is so well known and categorized the wiki has like 200 citations.

No. Absolutely not. There are VERY few people that have a BMI of 30 that are "in shape". If you have a BMI of 30, you are fat as fuck like 95% of the time. This is where the clinical line for obesity starts according to the CDC. BMI is not even close to a perfect measurement, but there are very few men with BMIs of 30 who are even remotely healthy. They are fat, end of, nearly every time. There are significantly more fat people than there are in shape people and it's not even close. The problem …

So you're saying your anecdotes override evidence? This is called "losing the argument and having no points", but you clearly lack the self awareness to realize this. Find me any evidence that 70% of Americans arent' fat, or that a huge number are now getting not fat. Your own life is not evidence. Things you maybe noticed once one day are not evidence. I understand maybe dudes like Tate and Deadin Samuels gave it a little boost in the broader public eye, but it's been around for a while. If you really think American culture, which was literally built on principles of excess and getting yours, can somehow transition into a society full of healthy mentalities and healthy bodies because of a radical online movement of misogynists (in the next decade), I think you are actually either an insane person or remarkably remarkably naive.

Uh not every man is going to the gym. Most aren't. Like I said, like 70% of men in America are fat. They are not going to the gym. The people at the gym who are in shape are literally the minority and we know this because every statistic gathered in the last 30ish years says so. American men are getting fatter and more hopeless. They are not "getting better" on any metric I can see. Also these men have not given up on getting laid, they just fuck fatties/uggos, aka your vibe attracts your tribe

While I agree it's a good thing for the bar to raise, I don't think we have any evidence that it's doing that... Majority of men in the US are still fat and make like 40k a year. They have next to no fashion sense. They have no game because most people are not funny or charming, they are plain and milquetoast. There is no huge push to "be better". OP is pretty much just writing out his Apophenia--he sees a trend being talked about online, so he starts to "notice" the trend, but what he's actuall…

Yeah, men could, and maybe they ought to, but I've read enough feminist theory to know that any disenfranchised group that lacks power in a certain domain must radically transform the landscape and general mores in order for anything to change. I think the only way to remedy this is for men to stop paying full stop. The dudes who really can get laid already dont pay. The dudes who cant get women dont get women, so they also dont pay. Then there's the men in the middle, who are being shafted, but…

Eh they're progressive in a lot of ways, not so much in others. Most cultures still have some backwater cultural stuff, Japan is no different. But they still have a modernized healthcare system, a better housing system than America at least, and just many more social safety nets that make living in Japan pretty god damned pleasant (especially compared to any other Asian country barring maybe SK). The infrastructure, maintenance, buses, food, sights and sounds... all A+.

Cuckold porn is just a version of gay porn. Like how yellow kiwis are just kiwis. Still kiwis, just yellow and sour-ey. A variant. Wanting to watch another man fuck your wife/gf is gay, end of. While I do think some % of posts like this are larping, your argument isn't a good one. Reddit has millions of users. Nothing prevents rich people from being interested in or talking about gender dynamics. There's nothing "unhumble" or "humble" about making threads about X topic on the internet. It just so happens much of gender dynamics is personal and subjective and often necessitates a person talking about themselves and their own experience with certain phenomena.

Sometimes it is physically painful to be burdened with this much genius. Am.He.Er.St. Do.Co.Mo.El. Ja.Ta.Pa.Li. Aa.Ae.As.Al. Ma.Kr.Na. Br.Ga.Th.Zo. Ju.Ly.Ra.Me.

I broke up with my GF very recently and I will tell you that every waking moment I was lusting over other women, despite this particular ex being quite good overall, and probably too good for me in general. Dunno why. Normal test levels, I guess? Neurotypical maleness? Genetic drive? Something like that. I did not seek out or flirt with other women and would consider it cheating or borderline cheating to do so. If I found out a chick did that to me I would dump her instantly with no explanation,…

I'm with ya. Bumble has worked for me so much better than any other dating app. Also the men complaining women only say 'hi' are uninteresting af. I don't think a chick has ever just said 'hi' to me, they almost always remark at one of the dumb things I have written in my profile which are place there specifically to act as response-bait. Look dudes, women aren't ever going to be good at being the initiators. You can help them along by writing interesting/dumb/silly/goofy shit for them to query.

I debate plenty, this is really the only semantic discussion I can think of that's worth having. There's not any other words or concepts I can think of here that require real technical knowledge, although most of the folks here could probably use a statistics class or two.

Great. But I am talking about people using terms wrong, and how using those terms wrong muddies the waters and further diminishes their own thinking. What you're saying is just fine, but it is beside the point.

Well bro philosophy isn't exactly an exact science lol. When you're a subscriber to a certain position, you try to educate people on the position. There's also philosophers that believe in Shiva, or bringing back fascism to bring about a utopia, does that mean we should just capitulate and agree, cause they're opinions and not facts? It's not my preferred word lmao. The way I use the word is what the word means. People who understand philosophy aren't arguing over what the word means, they're ar…

Not even sure a lot of my philosophy compatriots agree with me on how exactly objective ought to be used. It's a pretty contentious topic, I do post to the philosophy subs sometimes. But as all good people who wasted their youth studying useless shit I am stubbornly attached to a few subjects I think people are really not understanding and that makes them well silly and being silly in this way sucks and is no good
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 04:52 PM
2

I agree with almost everything you said, except I want to make an addendum. The only things that are objective are things which can be quantified. My go to examples are the mass of the sun in comparison to the Earth, or whether or not the Earth rotates around the sun, etc etc. Cosmological realities are the best examples of objectivity because what humans believe about the mass of celestial objects isn't really up to debate, what makes it true is the numbers. Like, I can't go to the sun to prove…

Over my years here I've noticed people fundamentally understand certain topics but contradict themselves about them anyway without realizing what they just did. The objectivity/subjectivity divide is the best example for this sub. If I told most people here that pink is objectively the best color, the majority response would be, "But I don't observe it to be the "best" color, and I don't know what "best" means, or how a color could be "best", and this opinion is entirely determined by your own p…

The real idea is looksmax as much as you are able and you won't have to buy her shit. May not work for everyone, but I think average guy looksmaxing doesn't have to splurge upfront and can at least get a few dates for essentially free. Drinks as first date are 100% the right answer if you do have to spend something, though.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 04:23 PM
1

Nothing about what I said changes if it's "dating early on" or just "dating". If the guy checks boxes in other categories, the woman is not going to care about how much he makes. Plenty of men are getting sex for somewhat free. No one gets anything for free. It's about how much cost is going in for how much reward. Tons of men have FWBs and get "free(ish)" sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 02:43 PM
1

Well because if you had read what I wrote earnestly, I was talking about both FWBs and relationships In FWBs the women will keep fucking the dude who doesn't pay for her while she also fucks the dude that does. Dude who doesn't pay still wins. In a relationship, good women don't leave over this shit at all. At least in my experience. And I have dated lots of women.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 02:09 PM
1

Ok, sure, not sure how that alters the fundamental argument. Good women in either FWBs or relationships don't drop dudes over money shit, pretty much full stop. Only shitty women not worth dirt do this.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/22 01:54 PM

I actually mentioned both FWBS and relationships as I have been in both relationships and FWB situations with these women. Pretty much everything you've said has been directly contrary to my experience just FYI. You can believe what you want, but it's not even close to reality. Worthwhile Women don't just drop good dudes 'cause some other guy wants to pay for stuff. Some women in STEM make good money. Researchers do not make good money. I've dated a few PHD researchers and a few MA's ... they all barely made 45k a year, some far less. I don't see how anecdotes are useful. Anecdotally, I've seen the exact opposite of your experience and I have experienced the exact opposite of your experience (and have slept with more people). Pretty much every woman I've made out with I've also slept with, and this is true for essentially every man I know. And this doesn't matter a bit, just like your little story didn't. I don't have hyper conservative beliefs. I am literally a socialist. My thoughts on sex and gender issues are insanely lib…

Are you denying that making out is an integral part of human mating processes? You kind of said it yourself. You make out with people in order to sleep with them. Very few people just go around willy nilly making out with people -- it almost always leads to sex, or at least increases the probability of sex in the future. It is very much a sexual activity. Maybe pecks and such are not necessarily sexual, but making out certainly is. I've never heard anyone say otherwise until now. Making out with…

Like I said, I have a relatively high N count, especially if compared to the "average". That doesn't really track with a 'low sociosexuality'. I don't think saying a few dozen partners, as in 30 or 40, is fine tracks with that either. Average person fucks like 10 people in their lifetime, I am fine with a much higher number than average before calling it unhealthy behavior. I mean, I just don't think you're thinking about how certain actions contribute to the way people view each other. We're ta…

It does mean fewer, though. A hundred is a crazy amount for pretty much everyone, even dudes I would consider killers. I guess I just don't see the appeal of making out and or fucking with hundreds/thousands of women like some of the ultra Chads here. A few dozen, makes sense, that seems like a healthy sexuality to me, not someone hedonistically trying to fill some gap. But if you're making out with everyone available, this is a signal that you're addicted to the thrill of it, or addicted to the…

Making out with a hundred people is exactly what that definition entails -- it's indiscriminate action. People like this don't really think about what they're doing or why they're doing it. If it's for hyper temporary thrills, then I don't think that speaks well of their general adjustment. I say this all as a guy with a relatively high N count. But there's an arbitrary line every individual draws where certain behaviors and actions in the opposite start to look like subconscious, unhealthy patt…

I'm 30 and can kind of see your point but ... romantic kissing is generally sexual, though? I would consider a person who made out with like 100 people promiscuous, even if they didn't fuck any of the people. Besides, the way the word is used in many contexts is the second definition, also listed on google demonstrating or implying an undiscriminating or unselective approach; indiscriminate or casual.

You didn't say few, you said 'couple' -- couple means 2 to anyone who speaks English. Still don't see how a dataset of hundreds is enough to speak for hundreds of millions of people. That's not how population statistics work. Hypothetically, if you saw a study with an N=200 and it's about how all women are inherently good, does that study speak for hundreds of millions of people? Or does more research have to be done? Don't you see how the researchers own bias could have influenced the conclusio…

Don't really think that's true, though. A good enough dude can "lock a chick down" in many different ways and being a provider has very little to do with it. Healthy relationships with economic equals exist all over the world and so do relationships where the woman is the primary provider.

Great, I addressed that many times over anyway (and right away, within my first two responses). Splitting up generational wealth does absolutely nothing for "solving wealth inequality". It never has, and I doubt it ever will. My source is a book (a couple books, actually) written by a world renowned economist on this subject exactly. Your evidence is... nothing. Hmmm wonder who is right, random redditor or PHD economics professor... lmao

That's not what you said in your original post, though, you said splitting generational wealth would help "solving" wealth inequality. This is called moving the goalposts. You wrote a thing with no evidence backing it, and are now trying to say you "meant something else" even though it's not what you wrote. We can all see what you wrote. It does not say "breaking up generational wealth". Your quote: "Furthermore, it will go a long way towards solving the wealth inequality problem as wealthy peop…

What you're talking about is essentially trickle down economics and that has sufficiently been proven to be bullshit by nearly every economist in the world, even super conservative ones. Rich people's wealth does not redistribute to the working class, and it never has -- it does not change the outcomes for 99% of people and effectively does nothing to the economy overall. Generational wealth being squandered (generally on houses, cars, boats, luxuries) is redistributed mostly to other rich peopl…

"There are wide varieties of economic inequality, most notably income inequality measured using the distribution of income and wealth inequality measured using the distribution of wealth." /r/PurplePillDebate28/06/22 05:25 PM

That's not what wealth inequality means, though. Wealth inequality is how we measure the distribution of wealth. 1% of rich households losing money over 2-3 generations does nothing for wealth inequality, i.e. the distribution of wealth for 99% of people. It literally only effects 1% of people. The economic boons that comes from losing generational wealth are a) virtually nonexistent, or b) shoved into the hands of the already wealthy. You can't make the "difference smaller" for 99% of people wh…

But what you're talking about effects like 1% of people -- it does not solve 'wealth inequality' for already poor people, it simply makes 2nd and 3rd generation rich people less wealthy. That's not "solving" wealth inequality, that's only making the descendants of rich people less rich, but it does nothing for 99% of other people. The gap between the two is absolutely irrelevant as it does not "solve" the circumstances of the 99%. If your idea of "solving wealth inequality" is "evening the playi…

It's interesting that experts do not agree with this. I have not been able to find a single paper on how dynastic wealth helps wealth equality -- I have only been able to find stories on how it hurts, and even fuckin' billionaires agreeing with that assessment. As I suspected, your thinking on this is essentially just a vapid trickle down dogma which everyone knows is bullshit. Methinks you need to read some Piketty.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/22 05:23 AM
1

You have yet to explain how dynastic wealth "solves" wealth inequality. This is a claim you made. Burden of proof is on you, dawg. "It goes back into the economy hurr durr" isn't an answer. It does not "go back into the economy", it goes to corporations and other already rich organizations. That's not "back into the economy". It goes back to the already rich. I fail to see how rich people's generational wealth going into the hands of other rich people "solves" wealth inequality.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/06/22 04:45 AM

That doesn't answer how that solves wealth inequality. Hell, as far as I know, dynastic wealth creates income inequality The 'pumped back into the economy' line is the same line Reaganites use when desperately clinging to trickle down, which everyone now knows is bullshit. That wealth is not disseminated into useful economic structures, it doesn't help the poor, it doesn't give impoverished people any more opportunity, it largely goes to other already rich organization…

How could they tell you why? All of those italicized words are the key component here. One of the issues is that you are asking for a "logical" answer to a subjective question, and expecting there to be pitchperfect answers to subjective phenomena. Right, so that number is probably a lot lower for me, which just kinda makes my middle spectrum of 'not Stacy' and 'not Landwhale Laura' include hundreds of millions more people (and it's already a huge amount of people, as I already said). So I'm confused as to what exactly your point was.

Why are 10% of women Stacy? What ass did you pull that number out of? And yeah, I know the stats, and they're a big reason why I've been saying "we should not consider fat people average and they can be removed from the equation entirely". Most people's attraction doesn't start at 'fat', it starts at average healthy weight and fit. Also roughly a quarter of 400 million is still 100 million people... kind of a gigantic spectrum of people, if you ask me.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 08:11 PM

I am pointing out what is average within a healthy range before the obesity crisis ruined the western world. There is an average weight a human can be within their height range without being fat or it effecting their life negatively. That is an average healthy weight. Just because it is not the current American average does not mean it is some kind of average, which it is.

In fact they go one step further and say you cannot find meaning without reason, as it is the vehicle for, you know, actually being able to do stuff. Once again, this is just a signal to your ignorance of absurdist works and messaging. Camus is one of the most widely read philosophers of our time and is still taught in universities throughout the country. Clearly he has some things to say about the human condition that people …

I have not. I have literally said, every time, that there's a difference between average weight and average healthy weight, and there is. There is a range of weight a person ought to be for their height. That is an average healthy weight. Don't agree? Don't know what to tell you. Every medical professional in my life, included the dudes who literally took the cancer out of my body, are just fine with this terminology. It is essentially what people used to weigh before food abundance, when obesit…

You're not a doctor, but okay. It's weird how every doctor's office I've ever been in has a chart for average healthy weights. I guess all the doctor's I've ever seen have been wrong, but anonymous "doctor" on reddit is right. Right, I am talking about average healthy weight. Did you miss the healthy part in like all of my posts? Your reading comp is pretty shit for a 'doctor'. I made a distinction between 'average' and 'average healthy' in every post. It was quite literally the entire crux of m…

I'm not excluding anyone. If we have a statistic that asks people what their preferences are, or what they're attracted to, and they say 'fit people', that's not excluding fat people, that's literally just answering the question lmao You clearly don't understand how survey statistics work
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 07:27 PM

No, this is not what I said. I said that an average healthy weight man should not be expected to enjoy or like fat women (aka average, not healthy weight average). I even said 'this is what I mean by the word average' in the post you're referring to.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 07:24 PM

I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say. If you go into a doctor's office and say, 'What's the average weight of someone who is 5'4?", they're not going to say "175 pounds" lmao. They are going to give you a healthy weight range, an average, of what that person ought to weigh at their height. This is why we should be looking at average healthy weight when we're talking about attraction, and not average weight. These are completely different things, and there are ranges of weight that…

Dude, do you have reading problems or something? My only claim was that the vast majority of people prefer not fat. That's it. This is a true claim, as far as the statistics go. Not sure what else there is to say. The stats leave out the fat people because most people don't prefer or like fat people. Like, fucking duh. Also it shouldn't be a surprise that even fat people don't prefer fat people. That is also statistically recognized. Virtually everyone (except niche fetishists, as I already said…

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you seriously trying to convince me that the majority of humans find fat people attractive? GTFO, no one who has read any statistics on these topics thinks that's true. The vast majority of humans prefer healthy weight and/or fit people. This isn't 'made up', it is capital T truth. If you don't agree with this fundamental axiom of human existence, then I don't see how we can make any headway with this conversation. This is blaringly obvious to me (and onc…

I didn't "change the rules", I literally stated exactly this in almost every post I made in this thread. Also it's not "what I think what everybody wants". The vast majority of people are not attracted to fatness. This is pretty common sense, and also statistically supported. Not sure what you mean by "never going to win".
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 06:53 PM
0

I'm talking about where attraction begins for the vast majority of people, and it certainly does not start at 'fat', so whether or not the "average" person is fat literally does not matter, since it's never going to be where attraction actually begins.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 06:49 PM
0

Ok, and? Were you trying to completely miss the point of my posts or did you accidentally do it? "Average" would start at healthy weight, not fatness. This goes for both men and women. So when I said 'average' man, I meant what ought to be average when it comes to attraction and health.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 06:32 PM

Probably, but I just told you the biggest factor. You come from an evolutionary line of people (apes) who all, barring anomalous psychosomatic disorders, longed for and sought out some kind of community or tribe, because if they didn't, they would literally die. Epigenetically, all of these features that made them want community and tribe still exist within you. Being around other people, having a friend group, not being constantly alone, statistically anyway, makes people happy. Why? 'Cause we …
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 06:13 PM

Because you are an ape and apes are highly social creatures that long for and specifically seek out tribe. With others, ape strong and happy, probably will not starve, has community, can rely on others and not just himself. Alone, ape gay, frustrated and probably going to starve monke.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 06:08 PM

Pretty much. Very well put. It's funny, you can go into pretty much any social situation and say something like "men are either children, or vicious murderers and rapists, and have committed more atrocities than any other creature on the planet", and no one will bat an eye. They will probably agree. Make a single suggestion that women maybe sorta kinda are flighty sluts and you can practically feel the chicks and their soy brigades burning holes through you. It's like it's okay to make generaliz…

It's not me making the rules either. 'Average healthy weight' is different from 'average weight'. Very few people (except for niche fetishists) start attraction at unhealthy weights, so we really shouldn't expect them to. Humans are apes. We are hardwired to look for signals of health and genetic prosperity in potential mates. It is unreasonable to assume we can override these kinds of cognitive mechanisms.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 05:38 PM

You need to re-read Camus. He says almost exactly the opposite of that. Life is absurd, therefore you ought to create meaning for yourself in any way you can, and you are free to do so in any way you choose, precisely because the world we are shucked into is absurd. Also absurdism, at least Camus-ian absurdism, is born from the fact that humans are reasoning creatures in an unreasonable world. Not sure where you're getting this idea that absurdist 'give up' on reason when having reason is a cent…

It's too high of a standard for an average weight man to want an average weight woman, just because most women are fat? And by 'average weight', I mean 'average healthy weight', not 'average'. Those are different things. That's some fucky logicks for ya.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 05:32 PM

I'm not either, I'm referring to what 'average' means in the minds of most men with a healthy weight. 'Average' starts at 'not fat', which is why people don't want 5'4 170 pound landwhales, and honestly that makes perfect sense. It doesn't mean they're "chasing Stacy" or whatever other cope bullshit. It means they're just not chasing landwhale Laura. There's a whole giant spectrum of women that occupy the space between 'Stacy' and 'Landwhale Laura', and you seem to be missing those in your prior…

The word average is a semantic issue here. What an average woman ought to be and what an average woman is are two very different things. I'm 6'2" and 175 pounds. A 5'4" woman should not be anywhere near this weight to be considered 'average'. At that point, on the scale of human attractiveness (and health), a 170 pound 5'4" woman is well below average, even if the "average" person is fat as fuck. The average person ought not to be fat as fuck, and thus the attractiveness scale should start at a …

That's not what absurdism means, nor do any of the popular absurdists advocate 'giving up' -- actually, quite the opposite if you've ever read Camus or Kierkegaard. Uhhh, no, that's just an uncharitable interpretation. Absurdists believe that humans have to create their own meaning even if there is no "intrinsic" meaning. That's not "cope", that's actually just a healthy way to adapt to a world without innate meaning. Being a bad parent has nothing to do with absurdism or nihilism, that's just being an asshole, which anyone of any philosophical persuasian can be. The absurdist would understand that being a good parent would almost certainly make their life …
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 05:02 PM

The difference between something silly like nihilism and something genuinely profound like absurdism is intonation. A nihilist will gloomily say, "Nothing matters :(" An absurdist will proudly say, "Nothing matters! :)"
/r/PurplePillDebate27/06/22 04:24 PM

There's a ton of opposing forces to nihilism, though. Ethical egotism, Omnism, structuralism, objectivism, hell, just box standard faith/spirituality is in direct opposition to nihilism.

Sentient observation is exactly what it sounds like. A person making a judgement call is sentient observation. Someone observing something is sentient observation. It is the opposite of objectivity. I think once a single person observes Brad Pitt to not be as attractive as some obese dude in glasses, then yes, that is called subjectivity. Considering the wide and wild range of human tastes, this shouldn't be surprising to anyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/05/22 06:53 PM
1

What? It's entirely subjective. It depends on a sentient observer. If there's a person who finds Rebel hotter than Ana (and there are certainly at least a few people), you have your answer. Yes, beauty is entirely subjective. There cannot be objective beauty, the concept literally makes no sense. Objectivity means true outside of sentient observation. How can you make judgements on a person's appearance without sentient observation?

It is not "unacceptable" to meet women at bars, clubs and concerts. I don't know where you live, but in major metropolitan cities in the US, this still happens all the time and is not "banned" in the slightest.

You have seen me before, this is just a new username. I've been here since like 2015. Mark argues for completely inept and asinine positions constantly. I'll give you that he's willing to learn, but it usually takes paragraphs to make him see completely obvious philosophy 101 points. I wouldn't consider that "good" or useful. I will go away when I choose, thank you very much.

You are pre-judging my "worthiness" based on what? A few posts? Yes, this is called rightoid goop brain in action. Also Mark is one of the dumbest users here. I had to explain to him the difference between objectivity and subjectivity a few months ago. He is a philosophical troglodyte who desperately wants to be smart but clearly isn't.

You don't want to talk about it because you don't have anything to say. Literally everything he wrote is true, and no "politics" has to come up, nor did he say anything "leftist", he just said actually true things. People who actually have something to say don't shy away from petty conflicts on debate forums. They just, you know, write.

That's a fair enough take, and well said.

Yes, yes, typical rightoid goop-brain deflection "person with political leaning of x said y and I don't like x and y therefore capitalism good" If you want people to treat your silly beliefs seriously, having a rebuttal to the perfectly reasoned arguments in front of you would be a pretty good start. But you don't have anything rational to say back, so you go "ew leftist" and say nothing at all. Good goin'.

That's not a rebuttal to anything he said. You can go on having shitty beliefs, no skin off my back.

Right on, man, keep it goin'. I never struggled much in HS or college, but dating apps have also been a boon to me. I am too naturally introverted to approach random women and my close social circles are mostly men (and men with wives/girlfriends), so dating apps have greatly streamlined the process for me. Never had much of an issue with them. I would add, though, that this isn't an unpopular opinion. Slightly above average dudes can do ok on OLD and everyone knows that, I think. But I also thi…

Everything he said is true. I don't see what his political alignment has to do with his plain-on-their-face unequivocally true statements.

They look like shit. It's like being a man with strawberry blonde hair. If you’re a man with strawberry blond hair and you’re not in the circus or a Viking, odds are you have not found your place in life and never will. Same with khakis.

You just said people like it because they have capeshit brain, so which is it? Youre contradicting yourself. And you not liking something doesnt make it overrated. I'd say Fury Road is ' rated' just fine.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/22 09:57 PM

Just dont see how Fury Road has anything to do with capeshit brain. It is like the antithesis of contemporary superhero movies. They are so unlike each other in virtually all aspects that the comparison seems drawn from absolutely nothing.

Honestly I think Titanic is extremely well made. Waterworld, not so much. Also degree of difficulty is a thing. What Miller orchesrated with Fury Road was considerably more difficult than Waterworld for god sakes.

If you knew anything about legitimately making movies, I think you'd realize why the newest Mad Max is at the very least insanely impressive. Maybe you didn't like it, but the on the ground filmmaking was considerably impressive pretty much universally. But I guess all the praise it got from other filmmakers means they have 'capeshit' brain, whatever the fuck that means. Comparing a mostly practical effect movie like Fury Road to Marvel movies and their adherents, who definitely do have capeshit…

Yes and yes, I do. People 'fixate on looks' in different ways.

I don't think big channels get six bucks per 1k views, or at least when I was doing the youtube thing that was not the case. Big channels tend to make money other ways, generally through subscriptions and merch and whatnot, the views become not as important once you reach millions of subscriptions and views. And like I said, this is generalized, it's the starting point of monetization, but there's other factors.

Fixating on looks is the only thing that improved my dating circumstances and in turn improved my overall life. So, no. Just no.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/05/22 04:21 PM

I had a monetized youtube channel for a bit. This was in 2015 so it might be different now, but the way it worked back then was 1k views = 1 dollar. I think recently they added some monetization for subscription count as well, and sponsors/ad settings have a lot to do with it as well, but in general, 1k views = 1 dollar.

I think the best answer you'll get is "it's both biological and cultural", and it's not really possible to specify "how much", kind of just like most things. Attraction is both nature and nurture, and the "how much" part is likely highly individualized and nearly impossible to generalize to broad populations. Some people are probably more prone to "falling for" their "biological type" and others might be more prone to being into their "cultural type" or having inexplicable attractions, and every…

I didn't tell people to start wearing only white shirts, high waters and used Doc Martens, so no. The outfit I outlined is the only acceptable outfit for a self respecting man and luckily it's variable enough to almost always be interesting and or make you look not stupid. Full suits are relics for traditionalists, polos are for queers and golfers, and t-shirts are low effort, hokey or otherwise unrefined. They all look like shit consistently. Button downs come in a wide variety of styles and if…
