Doesn’t she automatically get spousal support if she’s jobless at time of divorce?

So the courts will allow kids to stay with OP and not go with their mom?

Why can’t she move out of the district?

How do you withdraw hair without raising red flags?

I get it but jeez , she’s a sahm and complains about all she has to do. We live in a really expensive part of country, where mostly both parents work. Instead she stays at home complains that I don’t do enough around the house, when I’m out busting my ass working nights holidays weekends ot etc.

Stick it out 10 years, why cause I won’t owe child support? But wouldn’t I owe more alimony the longer I stay? Is alimony less than child support?

How so? Please share your experience

Ok thanks. That is one of my fears . She being allowed to move away near her mom , would totally limit my time with my kids. I would DEFINITELY petition for shared custody.

In my view yes. I could also say I have always felt I had settled, maybe due to lack of confidence, low self esteem etc. but through the years I have bettered myself, and I don’t feel like she has.

Ok who would you see for that , a mediator, would they draw up the guidelines/split?

Yeah but we can be nice and I’ll still get bent over , correct? More than likely we would be nice but she’s gonna take what she can.

So she got a job while you were separated? Does that help you out when it comes to the financials after divorce? Apparently if they have no job at all it’s worse and guy will pay more money

What do you mean by amicably? Like we both agree to divorce? One doesn’t serve the other?

If you got your job before getting married is she still entitled to your retirement/pension?

I decided pretty much a few weeks before closing that I didn’t want to move yet. She’s enraged about this, but I’m doing it for all the right reasons. I work where I live now, uprooting kids etc.

Uproot the kids like that ? etc.

Can she legally do this?

What a great way to put it about redirecting the energy now. These women can just burn you out

At some point they need to know the truth ( but probably not while they’re too young to process) because she will turn this all on you -no doubt. She will say Mommy found someone else because daddy was not treating her right, he’s bad etc.
/r/Divorce_Men20/07/21 07:35 PM
1

Yes but that will turn into her telling them she found someone else because daddy was a bad person and I had no other choice. At some point the kids need to know the truth

Reminds me of highway 20 ride by zac brown band. Keep your head up bro!

Holy shit that last line you wrote is 💯 percent accurate

I agree . My wife is obsessed with housewives show-it’s poison I’m sure and hallmark channel. It’s all fake but yet she revolves her days around it

I’m not asking her to get a full time job, something part time to help out and I work nights so it can absolutely work out with childcare between the two of us
/r/Divorce_Men12/05/21 12:07 AM
2

Of course she would. She doesn’t make an income and refuses to work. Sacrificing her career? She never had a career. The courts don’t care about me loving the children more. Not sure about your point here
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/21 11:32 PM
1

I never said that. I absolutely love my children. Would do anything for them. I’d argue my life revolves more around them then her life revolves around them. I put them before myself. She putting them before herself is debatable

We have a joint checking account, can I take her off or would need her permission to do that?

I myself don’t hide payslips. But can I not take the occasional couple hundred bucks out of the ATM and store it?
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/21 05:24 PM

This is the same advice I got from a co worker of mine. I did recently start withdrawing money here and there from ATM and storing it at work. Can you elaborate on hiding payslips and what important copies to keep?? Thanks

Easier said then done. She got comfortable, she don’t want to work
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/21 02:31 PM
1

No I definitely appreciate it and it makes sense. Others have also said she’s a SAHM Now but once divorced she will have to work again-I guess it all depends on what type of lifestyle she wants. My alimony will only get her so far.
/r/Divorce_Men19/04/21 08:31 PM

What if we get divorced and then she gets job afterwards? Does that lower alimony?
/r/Divorce_Men19/04/21 07:53 PM
1

But she is capable of working. Our kids are in school full time. How would courts look at this?
/r/Divorce_Men19/04/21 06:23 PM
1

So if she’s got a job prior to divorce I wouldn’t pay alimony? Even a job like delivering groceries to peoples houses or something?
/r/Divorce_Men19/04/21 06:06 PM
1

What if we are both on mortgage but without me there’s no way she can afford the payments. I’m not screwed covering the payments because she is on mortgage with me right? I apologize if that sounds redundant.

I’m not naive and would tend to agree with the cheating and messy house but her whole family is a bunch of slobs and our house has been a mess for all 12 years of marriage, but I’m supposed to hire a cleaning lady for a SAHM. Lol. Thanks for the advice
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 11:32 PM

You’re basically living my exact life just on the west coast lol. Gonna hit 12 years of marriage in August , have 3 kids age 10 and under. She’s not pulling her own weight and we’ve both basically shut down to each other. Can you elaborate more on a mediator vs a lawyer... whenever I hear divorce I just think lawyer. Mediator and or lawyer , you as the breadwinner of the family you’re still going to have to pay the same amount to your wife ? Or is it different.

We’ve got very similar situations. I’m 40 and wife is 39. We’re trying counseling next week which I don’t have high hopes for. We got 3 children. It’s almost like our family life is great but her and my relationship is a disaster. How many kids you guys got? How long you been married for? Just curious are you in NY by any chance for alimony purposes? It’s amazing what do these woman want. They are sahm for godsake they don’t have to work. I’d like to think if we do get divorced she would have to…
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 05:04 PM

Ok. Won’t be too hard I’ve been super dad since these kids were born. But obviously that’s not good enough for her.
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 09:14 AM

Glad you seem to be finding some piece. I’m just having trouble grasping the fact that my wife has basically had a free ride and hasn’t had to work since we’ve been together and now she’ll be entitled to half of my earnings.
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 06:17 AM
1

Thank you. I basically exist right now for my three children
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 01:14 AM
2

Ok. Is that NY alimony law? because I’m seeing some people pay alimony forever. (From internet) Also my retirement. She can only have percentage of that from the years we were married? Or is that forever?
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 12:55 AM
2

Thanks for the insight. That’s a main thing, she’s been living the life not working. If we get divorced she better have to get a job and not live off of me anymore
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 12:23 AM
2

Just wondering. After a divorce she would still be entitled to that though even though only in my name right?
/r/Divorce_Men15/04/21 12:04 AM
2

Wow thanks for info. If I walk into bank and open up a new account only in my name, does that raise red flags?
/r/Divorce_Men14/04/21 11:57 PM

I’m in New York. How does it work if she’s on the mortgage/title? Spousal support is alimony correct? What really irks me she’ll be entitled to my retirement. I exist for my kids at this point
/r/Divorce_Men14/04/21 11:18 PM
1

Pro father attorney. They actually exist? How would you seek one out? I’m being serious too. Thanks
/r/Divorce_Men14/04/21 09:05 PM
1

I know she’s on the title but not sure about the mortgage. I don’t believe she’s on mortgage. Where would that leave me house wise, if you are able to answer. Thanks
/r/Divorce_Men14/04/21 05:15 PM
1

So if she keeps the home, I get an apartment, do I have to continue to pay mortgage on the home plus for my apartment?
/r/Divorce_Men14/04/21 04:44 PM
2

I should also add. She’s got student loan debt that I’ve been making payments on for years. She took out this loan before we got married. I’m guessing I would not have to make those payments anymore???? Her debt would go to her once we divorce right?
