I knew what I signed up forLed to the slaughter house is an extreme way of putting it but I so think your comment has merit. People are learning by watching and it's making them socially inept because they are not experiencing mistakes naturally. They try the thing social media said and instead of reflecting when it doesn't work. They think they did it wrong because social media tells them everyday "this method will work". | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/08/25 05:01 AM
I knew what I signed up forMy ex fell into the "abusive husband" social media trap. It's actually what saved me because she would accuse me of being abusive to her in a different way every week and some of them made me realise .. "oh wait this is actually how you treat me". That being said. I think social media and echo chambers are a huge problem of today's society. We all love to brainrot on social media sometimes and when your algorithm is pushing toxic shit onto you every time you pick it up, it's bound to have an eff… | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/08/25 04:51 PM
STBX was just arrested for DVHey. Im sorry to hear you went through this. Some people are just awful. I hope you dont mind but i have some questions.. What happened after you were arrested? Did you get charged or convicted? Has it effected/impacted your life further than the obvious psychological problems that come after something traumatic like this happens? If you don't want to reply publicly would you please dm me? I understand parts of what you're going through and could do with a chat about it.. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/03/25 12:28 AM
How did you find out about the affair partner? It hurts but the psychology of abuse is scary. My stbxw had 2 affairs convinced me it was my fault both times and that I need to be in therapy to be a better husband.. turns out that backfired because after years of therapy I learnt that my shit husband behaviour was reactive to her abuse. Its taken me 5/6 years of therapy to break out of the spell. My first 2/3years of therapy were me trying to 'fix' reacting negatively to active emotional manipulation and abuse. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/08/24 09:44 AM
How did you find out about the affair partner?Lmao this physically hurts to read. Mine was doing the same thing. Turns out the friend was doing it too and I imagine the two of them were so proud of themselves thinking they're so clever. I'll even it 1 step further though because after years of abuse I believed her when she told me it was my fault she cheated and still didnt really know the extent of how selfish she actually is. Ive stayed with her.. only just now 2 years later am I getting my ducks in a row to leave. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/08/24 09:36 AM
No more dates with girls that have no kidsBeing a good role model and treating people with kindness and respect is not counter productive to any future relationship. In fact its setting up the son to see how a real man acts and treats people and how his future partners should treat him. If your ex is toxic and unsafe to be around then fair enough limited contact may be best but in this scenario we have 2 adults with a mutual benefit to being nice to each other so why would they not be? Maybe change your point of view. OP helped his chil… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/08/24 05:43 PM
