After I read the findings of Depp's case against the tabloid it became clear they both were pretty fucked up in that relationship and both were physically abusive. For example, in court it was revealed that Depp's own texts stated that he cut his finger off himself (after he claimed she did it)

A lot of people here are also missing this place had cut her hair multiple times before. The people there that day told her that it was owner policy that it was men only, which was a lie he corrected. So much unfounded outrage in this thread over some imagined characters performing imaginary actions. Edit: yes, downvote facts that are inconvenient to hating women that'll make em go away

Glad we're on the same page :) That said, she's still garbage imo for making those claims and I will personally never listen to her music just like Chris Brown

I don't understand how your response fits the girl accused them So there was someone that came forward and accused them. Has anyone come forward to accuse her?
/r/MensRights05/08/19 01:54 AM

You expect me to believe that a man has been sent to jail when there has been no one to accuse them of a crime? There's no way you believe that so you must be talking about a different situation.

What man has been in this situation that was sent to jail??

What inconvenient facts swayed you? From what I can tell this is all the info generated by the defendent* so of course it exonerates them but that doesn't make it fact, the court case will have to determine what is true

Edit: guys, you are making us look dumb. Acting as if the defense's case is fact when it hasn't been upheld is dumb. Wait and see how the court case plays out or you are just circle jerking over bullshit As a bystander I want to say I appreciate you fighting the good fight of separating mensrights from stupidity. I haven't spent much time fighting the irrational arguments here lately, but it's nice seeing someone is

She claims she did something which makes her a shitty person either way, but that's not evidence of a crime. Someone has to bring charges against her, there's no way you actually believe someone will just get taken to jail because they claimed something happened even if they are incriminating themselves.

Strongly disagree. No one person can wholly claim credit for anything if they are part of a society. It's like saying any one part of a corporation is entirely responsible for the outcomes of the company. If you have no factory workers, there is no product. If you have no CEO there is no product.
/r/MensRights25/04/19 11:01 PM

It's a shame, but people speaking for men's rights are being forced by other men to speak against those who would pretend to stand by us while drowning us out with their hatred of others.

It really doesn't sound like she seriously wants that though :/ It seems, and this is just a loose opinion, like you really are expecting to see a villain and that's all you are seeing. It seems clear that she explicitly is bringing up those things because she considers them as horrible as other things she wants to stop happening. How many 'crazed fems' have you actually meet?

The quotes you mention seem to directly state the 10% even is ludicrous and unsubstantiated... I don't follow how you are saying this corroborates those numbers when it pretty explicitly says the low number even is intellectually dishonest. To mention 40% is insane
/r/MensRights18/12/18 08:16 PM

This doesn't seem factual at all, peer reviewed research shows less than 3.7% across the world and much less than that in first world countries. For example: https://jech.bmj.com/content/59/9/749.long Does 10% to 40% really sound even feasible to you? I'm not sure how the could be believable

That's a pretty bold claim, got a source? Edit for posterity: I found no support to the above poster's claim, research I found shows Paternity fraud to be 3.7% or less across the world, and far less in first world countries: https://jech.bmj.com/content/59/9/749.long

If few people believe that men are capable of being a domestic violence victim of a woman at all, then it is unlikely that they will determine a death of a man as stemming from domestic violence on the part of his partner. That is just fundamentally untrue, if your killer is your spouse then it is legally by definition a domestic/intimate homicide. Thank you for bringing in info, but can you share the source of this graph? Its not that important but I first have to point out you say that the num…
/r/MensRights14/03/18 05:36 AM

Oh don't be silly, people are dumb and are not good at treating problems with that granularity. All violence is awful, and we definitely don't have to wait for it to be equal to talk about male victims, but yes there is going to be more than the necessary critical mass to push a message.
/r/MensRights13/03/18 09:07 AM

It was an interesting thought, but a small amount of googling says you are wrong to argue the point, over 70% of deaths in domestic violence are women.

That's shitty man, it's obviously not your (or their) fault in the least. These fucked up people deserve to face consequences and we (all of society) need to work on breaking down the barriers for men coming forward about sexual abuse/harassment as well. We really need to, because maybe you don't feel affected by it at all (I don't believe that's ever the case, but I've seen many men here claim they are unaffected) by just as you said they very likely continued to assault other men, men who may …

Forgetting that part, is this what we're really here to do? Generate outrage against extremist views? Yes, this is one symptom of one problem out there and deserves ridicule but if we're consistently stuck on being outraged by nobodies what will that accomplish? It feels like someone being angry about a doctor not wanting to treat their running nose while their arm proceeds to gush blood.
/r/MensRights17/11/17 05:23 PM

I totally agree, but the author doesn't do that. The only one suggesting that infidelity can 'keep their marriage intact' in the article is the women who are doing it.
/r/MensRights16/11/17 04:35 PM

You just seem to do it without calling people spastic cunts and telling them to go fuck themselves ;) That's not true. I just delete those parts before I hit save.
/r/MensRights16/11/17 08:38 AM
1

The phrase at least of "to keep their marriage intact" is not from CNN, it's from the blog which is full of incorrect statements and assumptions that can't be sourced from the article it refers to. "poor suffering women turn to riding another guy's dick instead of acting like an adult and having a partner conversation, then act like they're trying to save their marriage by whoring." Even your interpretation of the article still doesn't make any claims that they are heroic for doing so, just that…

You're right, I'm being overly harsh about the title, I think it's flawed but I over-exaggerated published by CNN (and therefore approved by editorial staff) Do you know what the path is for them to publish stuff like this secondhand? I have no clue and a quick google search didn't help. My adblocker was blocking that 'Story Highlights' thing so it took some digging to figure out where that quote came from. It's really a semantics issue and I do have a different interpretation, but either way I …

This shit is bad for men's rights. Agreed, said the same in my other comment
/r/MensRights15/11/17 10:19 PM

This was a solid and balanced article. They mention that some people are upset, but they also take a look at other sides including the actors who mention that the lighter armor feels more amazonian for the method of light and agile fighting (also that the different armor sets are intended to be from different time periods) and including that people are happy with just being (in their opinion) sexier. Mentioning Aquaman in your title seems pretty silly though.
/r/MensRights15/11/17 10:17 PM
1

That makes me think you did not read the article at all. This outrage whenever something is mentioned that is tangential to us makes you look bad, and then it degrades the ability to get the message out. Do you mention every related topic in womens, black, lgbt, etc etc when you bring up men's right?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 10:14 PM

Hey hey, not all of us :) It's up to all of us to work towards weeding out the bad eggs so the real conversations can be had.
/r/MensRights15/11/17 10:11 PM

Yeah, I kinda assumed that was the intent, but then it really doesn't make sense what it has to do with Louis CK's sexual harassment allegations? But yeah, if it's also just a slur thrown in for the sake, that would definitely be just a shameful thing to say.

You seem to be unwilling to admit to any pattern in the media regarding different treatment of male and female cheating I can understand why it seems like that, but I'm certainly not. So far I've been only talking to the scope of this blog and article that we are here in the comments of. If you want to talk bigger picture, I'm totally willing to do so. Pick apart misattributions in a blog No I am stating that the conclusion the article makes The journalist is claiming when a married woman cheats, it’s her husband’s fault. Is false, plain and simple. What are you saying is the bigger picture in this article? Edit to address more of your reply

Ahhh ok I am so sorry, I definitely drifted into responding as if that was your view as well. It sounds we are on the same page as far as what has happened historically and also that it doesn't necessitate what current capabilities are. Don't you find that seriously over-aggrandizing to say men are responsible for building everything?? I'm newish to discussing things around here and I have started to see (what I consider) this perverse notion that women owe men some debt of gratitude and that men are solely responsible for everything (or the majority of it) that we have that is good today. I'm not trying to put words in your mouth and I'm not saying that you are saying this, but the other side of that statement is to say women …

Some nobody wrote about how some other nobodies she knows justify their own shitty behavior. Maybe the (non cnn affiliated) author didn't condemn the women enough, but the blog op linked is just straight up lying: The journalist is claiming when a married woman cheats, it’s her husband’s fault. Please quote me any where in the original article that the author (not one of the author's anecdotal sources) claims it is the husbands fault. The quote that the blogger claims says that, absolutely does …

I think that's a very very limited look at what keeps society running and gives way too much flattery towards men Men are Atlas holding the world on their shoulders That feels pretty overzealous and I want to understand where you're coming and why but I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. Maybe this is an overly pedantic way too start but it's a start: Could those men have ever existed if not for the women that gave birth to them? (not that that gives necessarily all the credit, but like I…

Where do they advocate it? I read the article and as painful and poorly written as it was, I only saw them giving what they consider a new explanation for shitty people doing shitty things. Sure, those shitty people think they are justified or there is some benefit, but can you point to anywhere the author (who isn't affiliated with CNN as far as I can tell) advocated for infidelity?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 07:07 PM

Both the article linked here, and the article it refers to are garbage. Neither can separate fact from anecdote or stop making huge assumptive leaps Title makes it sound like someone is implying many wives do this, building a crappy premise off of crappy anecdotes about a few crappy people that probably don't even exist. Shitty people exist and excuse their behavior for all sorts of reasons, maybe you have a point, but why is this related to men's rights?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 06:35 PM

Got it, ok thank you, I guess I expected even sarcastically suggesting using Patriarchy as a positive would be pretty unlikely. Could you explain in your opinion what the other half of the statement is supposed to mean? i.e. Where does who deserves credit for society come in to this conversation?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 06:16 PM
1

I'm short on time and this got wayyy too long so please let me know if I unintentionally ignore/misinterpret something you said. I tried to address things you mentioned, but at the bottom is the part I'd really like to discuss. First you're right, oppressed is too loaded of a term and inaccurate, I think I meant to write suppressed. C.K's is utter bullshit, you constantly hear about LGBTQWTF but somehow a guy likes to rub one out while one or more girl, with her consent, is now sexual harassment…

Then what's the meaning behind Remind them that the patriarchy built the society and government If patriarchy doesn't exist? The commenter replied as well but I'm curious your thoughts on why to bring up something that doesn't exist or maybe you disagree with that sentiment?

I definitely wouldn't insist we're living under a patriarchy, I thought that what you are saying when you said. (And definitely not that we live under a white supremacist capitalist patriarchy) Remind them that the patriarchy built the society and government ... Which made me very curious because to me sounded like you were saying there is a patriarchy and that it deserves credit for society etc. I'm newish to conversations here and I thought this sub (in general) thought the patriarchy does not…
/r/MensRights15/11/17 04:34 PM

"Patriarchy" you talk about It was the original poster that was brought up patriarchy, so jump down their throat not mine. So would men have been able to do those things if women just hadn't existed? That's an obvious answer, no because it takes two to procreate so it's already impossible for those things to happen without women. How about if women were there to give birth and did absolutely nothing else, do you honestly think society would have progressed equally quickly?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 03:57 PM
1

What makes them still against us? (Haven't spent much time there)
/r/MensRights15/11/17 07:10 AM
6

Sorry if I'm missing your point, but do you mean to say patriarchy deserves credit for government, infrastructure and life as we know it?
/r/MensRights15/11/17 07:07 AM
2

That's a fair perspective. It seems to me that journalism has served to give a voice to issues when it might otherwise be oppressed when handled through proper channels. If you were a victim of injustice and didn't have the means to fight it out in court nor to handle the backlash you might face, what would you consider the right path to follow? I don't mean this to be a leading question or anything, feel free to address whatever point you want to make too as I am interested.

I didn't know that was the primary concern here actually. My statement still stands though, we should advocate for proper vetting of all accusations, including prior to their publication, but anonymous reporting of misconduct is very important especially in a work environment.
/r/MensRights14/11/17 11:27 PM
2

What does bringing sexual harassment cases forward have to do with Men's Rights? Go advocate for proper vetting of accusations, but putting a negative light harassment victims coming forward makes you a shitty person and not a Men's Rights Advocate.
/r/MensRights14/11/17 10:53 PM
2

There's a simple answer, don't be lazy. There are extremists and human filth hiding amongst all causes (and people who can't shut up about their own cause when it's not relevant). It's work but it's the responsibility of everyone to not let them hijack the conversation from people with real needs.
/r/MensRights13/11/17 10:10 PM
-1

Agreed, although I don't think the double standard is malicious. The sexists that pretend to be feminists are easier to identify compared to the sexists pretending to be men's rights advocates because the latter are typically calling for things that are more recognizable in that they were the status quo in recent history. It doesn't make it excusable, but I find it's not difficult to change a reasonable person's opinions that took the lazy approach and classified MRAs as sexists based on the lou…
/r/MensRights13/11/17 09:26 PM
2

Agreed, but I do still think we should shame people for not being able to look past the obvious extremists that aren't actually part of the cause. Not meaning they deserve insults etc but I find it important to ask people why they find it easy to dismiss uncomfortable conversations they would agree with (about problems men face) just because of extremists. As for the part where the conversations gets hostile to men (or anyone really), that shit just blows my mind. I don't spend as much time here…

upfront tl;dr Came to say what you said, was very happy to see it was here and upvoted well, proceeded to rant now that I didn't have to kick off the conversation It's really awesome that this comment is pretty high up there. I identify as a mens rights activist and people go ballistic, and I can 100% understand why. There are many who march under the banner of men's rights that are just plain and simple sexists pieces of shit. Then they get into the whole 'tainted term' bullshit, and screw that…
/r/MensRights13/11/17 07:08 PM

So correct me if I'm wrong (haven't had coffee yet so might be misreading) but I'm assuming you agree with the previous person and think that women have literally nothing standing in [their] way if [they] chose to take the [easier path to success]. If you think it isn't culture/patriarchy what is the source for women choosing the worse path? You mention socio-economic class but that's presumably similar across gender.
/r/MensRights04/07/17 04:47 PM

Either we misunderstand each other or you are hopelessly ignorant to reality. So forget the context of gender for a simple example, do you think a child born to a wealthy family and a child born to a poor family have the same capability for success?
/r/MensRights04/07/17 04:40 PM

That's bullshit. We are created largely by our environment and to say anyone can simply up and choose to take an easier path to success is plain ignorant. Sorry that's a bit harsh but the fact that this is the top comment in a sub I would like to see talking about how shitty the image posted is strikes a nerve.
/r/MensRights04/07/17 08:56 AM

That's fair (and a good analogy), but it lacks the core part that angers people over 'remember men: don't rape' If you said something like "Remember Mexicans: no sampling" that seems a lot closer. If the message was " Sexual assault is wrong", I don't think (any reasonable) people would react poorly.

You do when it's a game that has voice chat integrated (I find). I don't think it's even that prevalent, back when I played Battlefield on Xbox I would meet legit people and play with them regularly. Mute all is not a valid response to dealing with people who ruin a community, removing them from community is.

In what way is acting like a tool just because you're on the internet (because people would not act this way in real life for fear of many things) fun. That was more littered with negativity than I meant it to be but please take it with a grain of sugar and answer because I'm curious.
