One question and one only. Did the mom ever agree to purchase a car for the daughter?

If it’s not the cost of the car stop acting obtuse it’s the cost of the maintenance/ insurance and the fact that you didn’t consult with your ex on a budget and have clear expectations. That’s probably why your ex is like whatever you pay for everything. If she’s constantly in the position to play the bad guy because of your unilateral decisions then it’s easier for her to step aside and allow you to deal with the fallout. Have you established a budget for her prom dress have you talked about a …

Are you mentally stable? You seem to think you have any control over how much money your ex wife should spend based on decisions she partake in. And you are bringing up your gfs car so I am assuming she is willing to help your costs bec otherwise seems nonsensical to bring it up

Did she agree to the car? Did you speak to her about what she was willing or could contribute before doing this? The point isn’t should or shouldn’t bec the mom never agreed to it. What’s next you and your daughter decide to send on a private college w/o the input of her mother and then you tell after the fact she has to pay for dorms? When it should have been a budget discussion far in advance? You are divorced you don’t get a say in how she spends her money period end of

If I got my kid an expensive car without consulting my ex how is it anyone’s issue but yours. You want to make all these choices and have her clean it up? Let’s face it an Audi wasn’t the right choice for a first car the upkeep and insurance are higher. Forget about adding a 17 yr old who should have had a more basic car as a first car. So now you have created an expensive mess and want your ex to help out?

So let me see if i am following you… you are saying that she is far more financially responsible than you works successfully within the finance/ corporate world and you think she’s unaware of exactly what she is doing? Ok sure.

My parents have been married for 40 years, still together now and tbh and looking back they were happy and miserable at times and the misery was life beating them down, lay offs, money issues etc. They didn’t have issues with cheating both were very active present parents, both worked did household chores. And I mean my dad washed and blow dried and learned to style my hair. Took me ice skating and to swim classes, cooked dinner. Just as much as my mom. What I notice now is that there are a lot …

Advice- change your self involved perspective and stop thinking you are the smartest person in any room. You are not fooling anyone with this your gf is not going to replace you as a parent. That’s why your ex put in right of first refusal. Also why it js a requirement to give 24 notice so you can’t avoid CS while also not taking care of your kids yourself. This is a not a the system hates men situation. This a father that is trying to get out of being an active parent. You have two options get …
