Woman here. I actually have a theory about this. Being heterosexual means that you're attracted to the perceived differences between yourself and members of the opposite sex. Unfortunately this can sometimes mean both men and women have attractions that would be totally inappropriate to pursue. My head sometimes reads aggression, violence, externalised anger, lustfulness and will to dominate as masculine traits, and so finds them arousing. It's something I might fantastize about but am in no way…

I'm so sorry, I just saw this! As I mentioned elsewhere I'm trying to spend as little of my time on the Internet as possible, because it's usually such an angry place and I come away from it feeling drained and unhappy. I also don't have a lot of time to write right now (at work) but I will try and write more later. In any case I wanted you to know I appreciated the tone of your comment, which was very gracious, so wanted to write something now. To be honest with you I pretty much agree about fe…

We've only been married a couple of years. I waited a long time to get married. 🙂 Thank you for the kind words! Best of luck to you and your wife too.

Honestly I think he hates it and I'm guessing within 6 months he will get a job and we'll be paying someone to clean the house once a week. 😄

Fair enough and I'm sure you're right about the selection bias. I guess I wish men felt they had more value than just being a paycheck, it's sad to hear it. No different than hearing a woman refer to herself as just a piece of ass or something.

Man I really think you're wrong here. Have you considered seeking some counselling? I don't mean that as an attack, I mean you sound really depressed and it feels like some of your perceptions of yourself and others may be misaligned. Either that or you come from a very different culture than I do. I think probably 50% of my conversations with my friends and siblings are about love, relationships, the people we find attractive. My husband is the sun my whole world revolves around, still.

I have no idea about percentages but I'm a female and the sole breadwinner for my family. My husband stays home and takes care of the house. We live entirely on my paycheck. Does not bother me at all - I have a better education so higher earning potential. He's really neat and organised and I'm messy and scattered. The roles work for us. They have never made me love him less or be less sexually attracted to him. You're welcome not to believe any of that, obviously.

Ah ok. Well, I don't know the science behind it, but the feelings I experience toward my husband are what would keep me with him even if I could "trade up" based on superficial characteristics. Being around him makes me feel warm, comfortable and safe. When he is sad, it makes me feel sad, and makes me want to help him and comfort him. If someone hurts him I want to beat the crap out of that person. If he was gone from my life I would feel terrible grief. These feelings cannot be transferred ont…

Ok but this group is mostly made up of people whose ideas have been terribly warped by a really destructive ideology. A lot of them are still in the process of healing. I personally don't relate to this way of thinking at all. Do you have anyone or anything you feel love for? A pet? A family member?

Take classes. Join groups. Do volunteer work. Do you have interests? Find communities in your area that share those same interests. Do things that get you outside of yourself, and get off the Internet as much as humanly possible.

Because that's not how human emotions work.

I definitely had friends and family who tried to help me, but I was impossible to help. I really would liken it to a drug addiction or gambling addiction or something. I knew it was bad for me, eventually I even knew he had to be legitimately insane, but by then I was just hooked on the little crumbs of kindness I still got, and I had invested so much and it was impossible to imagine anything better. It's so hard to explain to someone who hasn't been through it, it's a bit like the old adage you…

For some reason the people with the worst opinions are the ones who end up becoming YouTube gurus. Perhaps because wise people have better things to do? 🙂

Completely agree, and there are a lot of amateur diagnoses of NPD out there that don't hold up. But this guy sounds like the real deal. It sounds like we agree that diagnosing them is ultimately less important than deciding: this person is toxic and abusive and damaging for me and I'm done. I am so sorry you had to go through it, but good for you for getting the hell out. Don't let him suck you back in because he will probably try.

The first big one I ignored was love bombing. I had worked with this guy for a year and always barely noticed him. All of a sudden he was super interested in me, and it turned out we had everything in common, and I felt like I had met my long lost best friend. I mean, incredibly specific things, obscure bands I'd loved 20 years earlier. I couldn't figure out how I had overlooked him for so long. Now I know it's because he only became that person when he in a very calculated way made a plan to ta…

I think it's interesting how many of the techniques redpill teaches are straight out of the narcissistic abuser's playbook for grooming victims. And I think that's because a lot of high ranking redpillers are narcissists. Which is why they're running a grift on generation of young men without a shred of remorse.

Thank you so much for this. I wish so much kids were warned about this in school, I would have been saved many years of grief. I don't feel the experience made me stronger, but it did make me less trusting. Men fall for this too, I want to point out; there are plenty of female psychopaths out there.

That's exactly why they get away with it too, because no one thinks people like that really exist outside of the movies. I sure didn't! I thought I was being paranoid and overdramatic. But these people are EVERYWHERE, and they can be women too. Be careful and learn the warning signs. And trust your gut.

I agree with others - this guy sounds like a malignant narcissist, and would be a very dangerous, destructive person even without redpill. You might look into support for survivors of narcissistic abuse. I was in a similar relationship with someone for 4 years, who started out being the most loving person in the world: I thought I'd found my soul mate. Then they slowly reveal themselves. That's the MO.

It's the Internet. I'm not kidding. All these groups publicly hating each other 24/7 started with the Internet. I think back to the pre-90s and it was so peaceful and blissful. Unplug. Detach. It's a poison.

Pretty grim and calculated way of looking at things. My understanding is the time after WW1 was just one of incredible grief for most people. But I'm sure there were opportunists of all types who fattened on it. Yes that's probably true. Different problems now but there are still plenty of problems. I personally still feel like I'd rather be a young man now than 100 years ago; human beings in general seem to be treated as less expendable with every passing decade. But yes, the climate crisis, th…

Ok gotcha. Thanks for explaining. How much of that feminism is actually affecting you in real life, and how much is something you just encounter when you're reading the Internet?

Redpill hurts men far more than it hurts women. Exposure to redpill makes men increasingly unattractive, isolated and incapable of sex or relationships, so the chances of actually dating one are slim. I'm not afraid of them, I'm sad for them.

I am genuinely confused as to why young men feel they have been left behind. I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm sincerely asking. It feels to me there are more positive role models of both sexes than there ever have been. More resources, more openness and understanding. In 1914 hundreds of thousands of men and boys were being blown up in trenches. How are things worse now?

Yeah exactly. Women also make sacrifices and work long hours for their families. They always have. Not understanding the point of labeling it a male trait, unless he knows that's the only way to get through to redpillers.

Yeah I'll just be honest, I found this pretty hurtful. He seems like an interesting person and it's unfortunate he thinks women aren't capable of fending for themselves. Maybe one day he'll have a strong daughter. I hope so.

I'm a 42 year old woman. I work, my husband does not. He takes care of the house and bills and cooks. This absolutely works for us. I love him more than I can say and I still have sex with him every day. I am only one woman, but I exist. If I exist others must exist.

You can do everything right and be plenty attractive, and never meet anyone if you don't leave the house. Source: female who did the same thing for decades. Get off the computer, get off the Internet, get away from screens. Go outside.

I've been attracted to virgin men before, absolutely. It's erotic thinking of sharing someone's first time. The excitement they will feel. That's arousing.

No. Seriously, no. I've had fewer than 10 partners and want someone in the same range as me.
