no, i just scribbled whatever was on my mind. i do it in the dark, can't even see if it's legible and then throw it away because it's embarassing shit I wouldn't want anybody to see--my true raw emotions in the moment.

I found it helpful in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. Did get it off my mind and onto a scribble.

If you see a shrink they’ll tell you that if you fall into rumination, scribble your thoughts onto paper (journaling) and it might help you put your rumination aside, at least for the moment.

Serious question though: how do you know it's not just the honeymoon phase?

I am a (catholic) child of the 80's. we were brainwashed into thinking that you would die if you have sex. That is not the case. Workshop it with AI, but as a hetero male you are very very unlikely to contract anything truly dangerous. My only other advice is to be kind generous and respectful of anyone you meet. Be good my friend!

I hate to say it but this is honestly true. There are some lovely and sweet women out there that will help you rebuild your confidence. at a price. Make it happen. Nothing but good experiences here.

Hah yeah I commented to the girl that she was cheaper than an hour with my attorney ;-)

I actually don't think paying for sex is being a simp, believe it or not.

It was super awkward because of my nervousness. I knew that would be an issue so that's why I booked 90m instead of the normal 60. We met for a coffee and had a chat before just to get to know each other. The extra half hour was pretty much full price , but I thought it was worth it to get me in the mood and get to know each other. But yeah, I actually hooked up with someone right after the separation and she's still hitting me up even though I really wanted a one night stand there, so yeah, sex…

I think that's a super fair response here. Seems like anything in moderation can be good and go haywire if you let it take over your life. It is definitely a great thing to think about when imbibing in these types of things. I feel like I'm relatively good though since I'm such a cheap bastard. The cheap gene will probably beat out the horny gene. For me anyway.

My opposite take is that I relish the time both with and without my kid. It’s more than ok to spend some time depressed and mourning your previous life, however. I like that I can run out and play 18 holes of golf on my days off (without getting the stink eye when I get home), and that I can devote more of my attention to the kid on days on. My immediate advice is to go for a walk, especially if it’s a sunny day. It might get you a little out of your funk. I’m new to this too. But trying to make…

I like this response. I plan to be kind to my ex but keep her at a distance. I don’t miss her and I don’t want her. This month of doing the move made me all the more certain that she is a lazy person that avoids all accountability. We have a child together who will be splitting time between us. So I will have plenty of time to see how our dynamic plays out.

Good luck bud. Keep that head up. I’m probably a bad guy to get advice from, but I am personally having fun trying to flirt with everyone. Gotta treat it as a game. Like in target or whatever. Just say something, anything (my last one was in the cosmetics section looking for lotion, joking about how I had no idea which one to pick). Lady totally helped but I could tell by her body language to lay off. So I did, and kept shopping. Also I was not a scumbag with the artist lady. I told her my exact…

Yeah I told the story to my mate and he told me the exact same thing. No regrets on the purchase whatsoever.

Thanks man, that's probably what I'm gonna do (#2), but I dunno. I worked so damn hard to get this "free" year.

I guess if I do the mid range software job, the question is… does it lock in that reasonable rate for child support/alimony or does it get recomputed every year?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
