Being on here again has made me realize that I am more mentally unwell than I previously thought Thank you, PPD. I think I will delete my account again but I will probably be back one day
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 02:28 AM

Interesting argument. I guess that innate desire somehow skipped me. I've never wanted to reproduce at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 02:09 AM

Men aren't eugenicists...? Are you sure about that?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 02:04 AM

Stoic is nice if it means we can both be quiet all the time
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 01:42 AM

I see. Thank you for answering! I hope I didn't sound judgemental, I am genuinely curious about the logic behind the opinion and I like to examine different facets of perspectives I'm unfamiliar with.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 01:14 AM

So you're reacting to a fictional version of them?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 01:08 AM

So how does the perspective extend to intellectually disabled women who cannot engage in relationships whatsoever? I'm particularly interested in that one.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 01:00 AM

That sounds awesome. Saving that for later.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 12:47 AM

Do men who say they dislike women in general really take issue with like...little old ladies? Women from remote uncontacted tribes? Women with intellectual disabilities who live in long-term care homes? Women from very structured religious communities who rarely interact with the general public? Or is it just meant to mean "I dislike women who are from the age group/demographic I am primarily trying to date within"
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 12:39 AM

what's wrong with the letter j
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 12:15 AM

Seeding it yourself is best because (if you are uncoordinated and messy like me) everything gets covered in juice splatters and you can pretend like you're a serial killer chopping up body parts to destroy the evidence
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 12:12 AM

Some people need to spend more time talking to normal folks. Especially elderly normal folks. Their perspective on their relationships/the relationships they saw growing up are very insightful.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/12/24 12:05 AM

I don't think you're beating the "likes poop" allegations with this one buddy
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 11:44 PM

Some of y'all make it sound like there has never been a couple in the history of mankind who has successfully remained together in a stable marriage and raised a family

Really? If a 5 is that attractive, the male attractiveness score functions in a very different capacity that I have been imagining.

If I was younger I probably would have called him an 8/10 or 9/10. Present day me thinks he looks too young and that skews my assessment.

People get mad at me for doing this all the time. I think for me it's an autism thing - I want to be precise and accurate, and I want to make sure I understand what's being discussed. But I guess some people interpret it as rude. Which is strange to me...why don't people want to know if they're saying something incorrect?

But then the fries on the bottom layers don't get any and you have to reapply, and at that point you might as well just dip them all, it's the same amount of effort.

I appreciate a guy who is working through being an insecure pushover, only because I'm having to do a lot of work on that myself and I know it is really hard and painful. (I will be accused of virtue signaling here probably, but I genuinely do believe there is some important bonding and support that can come out of connecting with someone who is dealing with similar struggles. People who haven't been through it don't get it. They will never understand what it feels like to fight against yourself…

Well I don't really have opposite gender friends. And feeling unloved/insecure/anxious is my daily default state. Nothing new, I'd be just fine.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 06:58 PM

A, but that's because I'm a conflict-avoidant people pleaser and I have low self-esteem myself. We can just spend the rest of our lives constantly apologizing to each other and live happily ever after.

I am sorry about your rage. If you celebrate the season, I hope that you have something nice and Christmasy happen today or tomorrow.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 06:18 PM
1

I baked a loaf of gingerbread using an old family recipe while listening to Christmas music, prepped a other few dishes, helped my grandma pick out the tablecloth/napkin rings/etc. for tomorrow, helped my pastor friend edit his sermon, and now I'm resting a bit before I get ready to go to a candlelight church service. Pretty nice day, all things considered.

But they aren't "favors." They're basic pieces of maintaining a household with your spouse/partner. How do you live a functional partnered adult life without these things?

lol same
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 03:12 PM

So what does not doing things for women look like on practical level? Never buying birthday or Christmas gifts for your partner? Never doing any household chores or home improvements? Never offering relief for childcare? Never taking care of her if she is sick? Never contributing your own funds towards large purchases if she might benefit from them as well? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I struggle to understand what a functional partnership would look like if you don't provide for one another …

I don't think so. But I've also never really given it a lot of thought. I think the societal complications are too much for me to ever consider it...I live in a very conservative part of the US

I say I'm low libido and have trouble experiencing attraction, but I actually do find other women really attractive. A really wide range of women. I used to watch mostly lesbian stuff back when I watched porn, and I've always had friendships with women where I'd get way too intense about our connection...makes me wonder sometimes lol.

Do men care if women don't have social media? Is that seen as some sort of questionable social shortcoming or no (Not counting Reddit here lol, I mean IG and that sort of thing.)

Right, it's just interesting how humans express their sexuality and build personal hierarchies based on it. It's just as interesting with height and dick size, but there was a comment specifically about boobs/ass that made me start thinking about it.

Veins and muscles are fascinating, but I don't consider myself attracted to them. They're just interesting. I have heard lots of other women say they like them though.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 03:59 AM

The way people talk about ass/boobs is so interesting to me. Just the fact that people are essentially ranking human body parts. Do you like molars, or do you prefer kneecaps? Are you a femur guy, or are you a radius guy?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 03:44 AM
2

Yeah, if it wasn't for the stuff I've experienced, I'd be a lot more in line with the average woman. But I think certain life experiences (and resulting psychological development) can absolutely override any innate biology. A lot of people seem to think I am virtue signaling when I do talk about my perspectives, but in all honesty, I would give anything to be a "normal" girl instead of this. The average romantic life and worldview is really enviable to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/24 01:18 AM
3

I'd rather not answer this because I suspect you'll get mad at me about it. The short answer is that I don't process attraction the way other women seem to. I think it's a combination of autism and sexual trauma from childhood. I am very much an outlier but men here try to argue with me about that, and it's simply not worth trying to explain to them that my brain is broken. Nobody believes it and people here get very angry over it. I don't have celebrity crushes. They don't make sense to me. I m…

I like to cross-stitch and make little decorative pieces for people, especially stuff with video game characters/nerdy things. I like to crochet stuff for people too. Or making ornaments, baking lots of stuff, book binding (especially if somebody is into fanfic or erotica or something lol, print one out and bind it for a nice gift), writing poetry/short stories...and this last one is really corny but I've found that people seem to appreciate a good old-fashioned mix CD where you illustrate cover…

Yeah, unfortunately I don't benefit from that. I'm also physically disabled, so the weird behavior on top of the physical issues makes me something of an anathema to 99.99% of men.

I wore heels one time when I was a teenager and immediately decided it could never happen again lol
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 09:20 PM

I do not know how women used to (or still) wear full-length skirts all the time without going insane. I keep stepping on it, tripping when I go up the stairs, closing it in the car door, it gets twisted up when I sit down... I like the way they look, but damn. I'm embarrassing myself.

I get annoyed because lots of times I'm the outlier myself, so I can't tell how to actually engage in discussions when my own experience counters the argument being presented. But I guess the point is that I actually shouldn't engage because in that context, my contributions are meaningless derailments.

I get that. But also, couldn't someone just lie and say you were the best? How would you confirm it?

I've only been with one guy. By default, he was both the best of my life and the worst of my life. So in some cases, I'm not sure being "the best" is any sort of meaningful measurement.

I think my friend might be angling to set me up with her brother. She's pushing for us to go to a NYE party together. I like him a lot and we've known each other for years, but I don't think I can deal with the fallout when he doesn't like me/it doesn't work out/etc...it seems like it's not worth the risk. I like their family way too much.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 12:52 PM
1

I don't get offended but I get sad. I wonder what I did wrong, if I should have behaved differently, what I could do to make myself more attractive, etc. - the fault lies with me, so I start analyzing what the fault could be and how I might be able to fix it for the next guy I like. I honestly thought that was how most people handled rejections, but maybe it's not.

I only tell other autistic people. Or people with ADHD. It's usually well-received and makes our conversations a lot more fun. But otherwise, no, there's no real benefit to sharing the information. I wish my autism had resulted in dating success...but then I'm female. I have to do a whole lot of faking to act properly "feminine" in the way most men seem to want. I recognize the patterns but fail to perform them correctly.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 12:27 PM

Maybe men have a higher threshold for needing to constantly reassure someone. My ex had very low confidence and it manifested as deep insecurity: him accusing me of not loving him/not being attracted to him, having breakdowns sobbing in bed every night, asking me not to spend time with friends/family because me being away from him made him nervous, etc. I tried very hard to adapt to what he wanted. I stopped going out and doing things to make him feel safer. I did everything I could to reassure …

Hookups aren't an option given my body's limitations. I would have to know someone very well in order to trust that they wouldn't cause me physical pain or even injury. But thank you for the suggestion.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 02:35 AM
1

So what do recommend would make dating "easy" for me, given that no man in existence is within the limits of my league?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 01:55 AM
1

Maybe. I'm a physically disabled woman with a deformed spine, so I would argue that every single man on earth is out of my league in some capacity. Trying to say it would be easier "in my own league" is meaningless.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/24 01:51 AM

It is hard for some of us, while it's pretty easy for others.

Yeah, this happened to me just last year. I was very into a guy who wasn't into me at all. We tried remaining friends for a while but it started to feel awkward (I think it was a mutual feeling) and we drifted apart. We're part of a larger friend group so I still see him at parties and such...we chat and have a good time talking, but otherwise we don't really maintain a connection.

The non-mainstream ones are where you really learn about a person's taste, imo. Seeing something for AoT would be like "oh cool, he's into anime" and then make me start wondering if he likes any of the ones I do, or if he's into loli stuff, or if he's the type to collect merch of his waifus and talk about them all the time, etc.

Witcher 3 makes me like him more. Indicates he might generally appreciate games with solid narratives, lore, worldbuilding - we'd probably have stuff to talk about there. Attack on Titan leaves me feeling neutral. Feels like a safe, mainstream choice. I'd have to find out what else he likes.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 06:54 PM

Which games and which anime?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 06:46 PM

I will consider applying. I am a sturdy girl with good agrarian genetics that may be beneficial in times of cold and/or famine.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 05:39 PM

Not sure if I am or not. I've only had one relationship that lasted 8 years, then I became disabled and haven't been able to successfully connect with a guy since then. I don't really know what the threshold is for such a label, or if you can become one after having been successful in the past.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 02:06 PM

Unfortunately as a 2/10, most men are out of my league...or it's difficult to find one that isn't.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:53 PM

He could have just asked me for that and saved us both some time...I'm pretty good at hyping people up.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:44 PM

I posted here as sauropodax for a little bit. Before that I was Mothman something (I can't remember the full user name.) I do have a habit of deleting my accounts after a while, particularly if I've been going through an active period on here.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:39 PM

I don't know if he's successful or not. But if he got 5 numbers, as the other person suspects, then I would call that successful, yes. I apologize if that threshold of success differs for men. I was just pointing out the discrepancy between the commenter's assessment of the situation and the way the dating experience is often described for men. I have numerous negative attributes. I would assume that's a given for any human being. I didn't realize I needed to provide a disclaimer indicating that…
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:32 PM

I imagine that he wasn't actually attracted or interested and was just entertaining the conversation out of boredom or something similar. I just think it's funny that he didn't ghost me before asking for my number. Would have saved me a little bit of misplaced optimism, but hey, that's not the worst crime in the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:30 PM

You're welcome. Though I don't know why I would lie about such a thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:18 PM

He was very attractive. But I like all the qualities I listed, I am very attracted to husky nerdy men. And I get along with awkward men far better than any other type. I just know redditors talk about those traits as negative, and imply that it's difficult for those men to get any attention on apps. But the reality must be rather different. I am quite ugly though, yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:15 PM

[edit for clarification: I am not using "chubby" as an indication of unattractive, I am very attracted to chubby men and was very attracted to him. I'm simply using it as a descriptor of his body type, and mentioning it because Reddit makes it sound like a particularly difficult trait for men on dating apps to have.] I honestly didn't expect that nerdy shy chubby dudes actually do that well getting numbers. Seems like a very different picture from what Reddit paints lol
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 01:07 PM

I was talking to a guy from a dating app for a few days. It seemed to be going well - he was a librarian, awkward/shy but in an endearing way. He asked for my number. I gave it to him, and he immediately ghosted me. I guess it means he was uninterested from the beginning, but what's the point of asking someone for their number if you know you don't really like talking to them?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/24 12:52 PM

That almost makes it seem like N-Count is more of a vibe or a feeling than an objective measurement. But maybe that's the point, that it can't accurately be measured for everyone and it's meant to be more of a picture of behavior than an actual statistic Anyway, I wasn't asking from a perspective of technicalities, more from a perspective of "what's the logic behind the system." My personal N-Count is 1, but I've always wondered at what point exactly the switch flipped from 0.

I feel the same way. I have probably less than 5 drinks per year - only for special occasions. It's nice in the moment but always leaves me feeling absolutely miserable.

lol yeah the simplicity is great. With old ladies it's crafting, baking, gardening...way easier to get a conversation rolling with them than it is with women my own age.

Almost all of my socializing these days happens with people who are 70+ years old. They're honestly way easier to talk to than people my own age. But I'm beginning to think I need to branch out more and connect with some people in their 30s...I just have no idea how to do that lol. I volunteer at the local genealogical society, everybody there is elderly. I go to church, most people there are older. My neighbors are all older folks, the people I run into regularly at the grocery store are old...…

Maybe they can sense that you are a PPD participant

Okay. I apologize for commenting here about dating apps. I deleted it.

I can't figure out what dating app "serious" people are on now. Bumble feels like it's the same demographic as Tinder. OKCupid seems to be a lot of ENM/poly stuff or fringe lifestyles. Eharmony has some decent people who seem focused on long term relationships, but it's hard to find people nearby. I see people mention Hinge sometimes, but I'm worried it'll just be more of the same pool. Maybe all the people looking for serious/long term connections aren't on apps at all.

Trying to connect with people who haven't endured much trauma in their life is like speaking a different language. I have friends who just really haven't experienced anything bad. No assault, no crime against them, parents still together in a loving relationship, no bodily injury/medical trauma, no financial hardship, no natural disasters, no car accidents...I still love them dearly, but I feel like an alien when I talk to them. Their perspective on life is just so wildly different.

I'M AS CORNY AS KANSAS IN AUGUST, I'M AS NORMAL AS BLUEBERRY PIE~

They are a really underrated vegetable.

The first one. Ex-gang member might be a great guy but I would not trust him in context of a relationship.

I still don't really understand how N-Count works. What if there's no penetration? What if neither of you finished/had an orgasm? What if you never get beyond fingering? Is any intimate touching considered part of your N-Count regardless of duration or completion? What if that touching is done while fully clothed? Is sexual abuse/unwanted contact factored in? Is there some kind of guideline explaining the thresholds?

Reason number 70000 I won't ever join a gym: people masturbating to strangers they see there

Molasses cookies, sea salt chocolate chip/butterscotch chip, and brown butter spiced oatmeal.

My sweet elderly neighbor just brought over a pan of homemade cinnamon rolls and two loaves of sourdough bread she baked this morning. She's truly living my dream life. I can't wait to be a little old lady taking bread to everybody. (I'm almost there - I made several batches of cookies for neighbors this year. But that's not as exciting as bread.)

I'd rather just get chipotle and not sleep with anyone, if that's an option

For me, it's not about a wedding, it's about the sacrament of marriage. But I'm Christian so my perspective differs from others sometimes.

It's interesting, my experience (as a woman in my mid-30s) is pretty different. I have friends who are single as well, and rather than "taking anything," most of us are weighing whether or not we actually want to pursue relationships at all. Maybe it's different for women who want children at this age...I'm sure that adds some significant pressure. But for those of us who aren't driven by that biological imperative, we're largely ambivalent about dating. At least from what I've seen. (Speaking e…

I'm mid-30s. Old enough that there's no real issue with an age gap apart from knowing that he'd (probably) hit the final stage of his life significantly earlier than I would.

Well, I'm dating for marriage, nothing else. I look at every prospect from a perspective of "what would my life with them look like in a few decades" (as much as I can predict such a thing, anyway...not always possible, but I have to keep an eye on that primary goal.)

There may have been signs, though the "hindsight is 20/20" adage also come into play here. I can't say for sure. The other factor I will point out is that many people simply don't know how they will react when something like this happens, and there is no precedent set on which to predict their behavior. I went from a healthy 30 year old to being wheelchair-bound. I certainly had never been through that, and my boyfriend had not. It adds tremendous stress to a relationship to have a person sudden…

Yep. I got a disabling illness and my boyfriend of 8 years dumped me. Said I wasn't loving him the way he needed me to. Extenuating circumstances didn't matter.

I think my grandma is trying to set me up with a guy at her church. He's shy, awkward, nerdy, very much my type, but he's 22 years older than me. The thought of building a life with someone who would (most likely) die so much earlier than me is difficult.

Yes. If it's ridiculously tight, I either smack the bottom a few times to break the vacuum, or run the lid under hot water to expand the metal.
