That is why when Rollo comes up with his own original thoughts you get the insane stupidity of telling men to engage in medical procedures instead of using dick discipline including only using a condom. Lol, I remember that. "Sterilize yourself because high-value men don't use condoms"...

Basically, OP accepts that evo-psych is correct about height No I don't. I accept that women do have a preference for men slightly taller than themselves, and that this is likely an evolved instinct. However, I absolutely do not accept the veracity of the just-so stories evolutionary psychologists love to throw around about how women prefer taller men because height signals dominance, protection, status, etc.

I would argue that some evo-psych is fairly self-evident. An example would be how people’s attraction is heavily based on health and genetic fitness. However, I would agree that people go WAY too far with this stuff when it is not hard science. Yeh, I agree. If we're looking as something as simple as "body symmetry -> good health", then yeh, I have little issue with that. But anything more complex than that feels very dubious to me.

Nobody is denying that evolution shaped our behavior. The issue is that there are severe methodological issues with evo-psych as a scientific discipline.

Really? Game of thrones - the show known for its moral nihilism and grim political infighting - is a classic "good verses evil" story?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/09/25 06:23 PM

Can you not try to think a little big more deeply about this? Why was it a well-written story? What exactly drew you so strongly to it?

I think that GoT was popular due to the mutli perspective timeline that appealed to bpth men and women. For instance, I didn't enjoy Rob's storyline. However, I loved Arya's and Jon's. I wethered through Ramsay to watch Sansa grow. It's constantly changing and developing. I'd argue that great art requires some form of moral component, or some form of nobility or heroism to aspire towards. Eg, LotR is full of noble characters, Hierarch Artanis from the Starcraft campaign is my role-model, Aloy fr…

I think Susanna Viljanen on quora addresses this very well: Martin’s stories are basically rip-offs from real life history - namely the Wars of the Roses. It does not take too much imagination to realize Stark is York and Lannister is Lancaster, and a plethora of other recognizable real life characters is found there. Martin’s humans are basically the same as Tolkien’s Orcs - evil beyond redemption, amoral and devious, but can occassionally show courage, bravery, honour and other positive qualit…

Even if that's true, so what? I remember I used to think that David Bowie was an amazing musician, but then after studying classical piano for years, his music just sounds meh compared to Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, etc. And even among those composers, many of their pieces also sound meh to me after I heard Godowsky's passacaglia. I know I'm not the Godowsky's passacaglia of men, so if I don't want to be viewed as meh by a partner, then it makes perfect sense that I would value purity (ie, …

No clue - most straight men are horrendously bad at judging the attractiveness of other men. I feel like I often have the completely inverse view of what's attractive, since any visceral judgments of male attractiveness I have are purely aesthetic, and hence I regard softer and more feminine male faces (the ones you may see in a Renaissance painting) as the most attractive, whereas the more rugged and angular faces - which are supposedly the most attractive - just seem unaesthetic and ugly to me…

Here's what you need to learn: P implies Q = not P or Q not (P or Q) = not P and not Q (De Morgan's law) not (P and Q) = not P or not Q (De Morgan's law) not not P = P not (for all x: P) = there exists x: not P not (there exists x: P) = for all x: not P Once you do understand that, you'll be able to follow my reasoning.

I think the only solution is to be low in agreeableness and high in conscientiousness, from a personality pov. Since the low agreeableness will confer attraction, and then the high conscientiousness confers the pro-social behaviour needed to be a good partner. This is what Mikhaila Peterson went for, actually - her husband scored in the 0th percentile for compassion and extremely high for conscientiousness; so he's a nasty piece of work, but acts like a good husband out of a sense of duty, as op…

I'm only bluepill because I don't believe in "game" and "holding frame" as solutions and if I tried those things, I'd be laughed out of the room with any women. That's such a mood lol. My underlying personality and cognitive style is just so far removed from the redpill archetype that I don't even bother trying, and instead I just be myself with the knowledge that it probably won't lead to much - if any - dating success.

Is it because of their personality, or because of their social-skills? Generally, personality only matters once a relationship has already commenced and you're trying to maintain it. Actually forming a relationship is all about charm, charisma, social intuition, and so on, which are distinct from personality (as described by the big five triats).

Unsuccessful men are more likely to devalue things like being a father due to the Sour Grape effect - basically, if you want something but believe you can't attain it, you often devalue it so as to ameliorate the pain of having an unmet desire. Hence, lots of men who would normally highly value things like being a great husband end up saying things like "Marriage is garbage. I'd rather just play video games and see escorts". It's a psychological defense mechanism.

I've never really had an issue with being vulnerable, mainly cus caring about being masculine seems dumb to me (though I've also never had a girlfriend so... lol). Also, I resonate a lot with the Chopin quote: "It is dreadful when something weighs on your mind, not to have a soul to unburden yourself to. You know what I mean. This is just sounding like you're in denial about not actually being that attractive. Outside of multi-millionaires, no man who's genuinely extremely attractive would view spending hundreds on an escort as the more financially prudent choice than simply finding a tinder hookup or curating a tonne of "friends with benefits".
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/25 11:49 PM

So getting a tinder hookup is more effort than a whole day's worth of work for a chad? Since that's what the price of an escort would roughly correspond to for a guy with a reasonably well-paying job in the UK.

I don't like the "pretend to care about you" line. It makes it sound like escorts are just money-hungry sociopaths instead of people who may derive a sense of satisfaction from helping people. Did my supervisor for my master's dissertation merely pretend to care about me when he spent a whole morning giving me feedback on my final draft? The degree of loneliness felt is independent of the amount of social contact one actually has. The best predictor of frequent feelings of loneliness is neuroticism, which women on average score higher in.

There's huge overlap between the traits in men which women find attractive and low emotional empathy and aggression. Facial masculinity is negatively correlated with agreeableness; dominance, emotional-aloofness and charm are associated with psychopathy; etc.

Chopin wasn't a loser with women Eh, he kinda was though, let's be honest. His affection for Maria Wodzińska was clearly pretty one-sided, and then his relationship with George Sand was... interesting. That's not to takeaway from his obvious genius as a musician though.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/25 07:42 PM

So what? Chopin was no Wagner or anything of true substance. Chopin's f minor ballade is widely regarded as the greatest romantic masterpiece ever written. What's that supposed to mean? I was however renowned in my trade before age 25. Chopin composed his Op. 2 variations at the age of 17, and Schumann's response to it was "Hats off gentlemen, a genius." And, unlike Chopin, I'm still alive past age 39 and I ain't raising some random queer woman's bastard children. So people with tubercolusis are…

Just looking at the current democrat vs republican party, it's pretty clear which is more pro-autism. I guess there's the issue that far more women are considered highly attractive than men are, so a woman could, for example, still be considered highly attractive even if she had a prominent jawline, and that would likely make the male version of herself highly attractive.

Logic is the process of deductively reasoning from a set of axioms. If you don't say what your initial set of axioms are, then saying something's "logical" is meaningless. The claim that every vector space has a basis is only logical if we accept the axiom of choice. Just saying that every vector space has a basis is logical is nonsensical. If you're going to claim monogamy is logical, you need to specify what you actually value.

Really? Some of the most famous mathematicians and composers are too esoteric to you? Alright. Anyway... if the only motivation for men to achieve anything is to get laid, why would a man compose a 40-minute long piece of music on his death-bed dying from tuberculosis, or why would a man write down his mathematical ideas for others to read in the event of his death?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/05/25 09:34 PM

If you could go through life doing whatever you wanted and still be guaranteed a wife and reproduction of your genes, there would be no motivation to achieve anything. What was Pergolesi's motivation to compose Stabat Mater in the final weeks of his life then, or Galois' motivation to write down his ideas the night before his duel? Absurd statement.

It's simple: When people talk about personality, what they're usually referring to is social skills/cognitive empathy, which is distinct from the big five traits. The best description of it I know of is Simon Baron-Cohen's empathising-systematising theory. People who are systematisers are great at understanding rule-based systems like pure mathematics or Bach fugues, but struggle to understand the ill-defined and nebulous intuition-based social world. I think Baron-Cohen just means there's a tradeoff between being good at and interested in understanding systems and being good at and interested in understanding people, and autistic people are hyper-proficient and hyper-interested in understanding systems and so are disabled in their ability to understand people.

What do you think sex is supposed to be? A way to show love and affection towards another person and form strong bonds. Not just a way to use someone's body for your pleasure and then discard them afterwards like a psychopath.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/25 10:09 PM

With casual sex there is at least desire from both parties. If the desire is only for the other person's coropeal form then that's not any more humane. The prostitute just wants to pay rent and eat. Not necessarily true.

I don't think it's eugenic to refer to autism as a disability. I like Simon Baron-Cohen's perspective, where he views it as a difference which confers both strengths and disability. I'm autistic as well fwiw.

A big reason is that some men assume that sex with escorts is necessarily devoid of genuine emotional intimacy and connection, and believe that emotionless sex is inhumane.

Brian Bi on quora put it well: So, who are the true incels, the ones who actually try to ask out women and never succeed, who have tried to improve themselves but simply cannot make themselves good enough to be able to get dates, and who are not fixated only on the most attractive women? They mostly fall into two categories. People who are so ugly that they could reasonably be considered deformed—and autistic people. Autistic men might try to approach women, but end up coming off as creepy or we…

Yeh, I'm autistic and if it weren't for escorts being cheap and legal in the UK I'd almost certainly be an incel. I find that autism isn't that big of a disability when interacting with other men who just want to talk about video games or maths problems, but when it comes to women it's a death sentence lol.

There's a strong relationship between degree level and income for STEM degrees - not for humanities degrees, which is what most women seem to go for. And math olympiads require exceptional intelligence, creativity and dedication to do well in, which is why they're held in such high esteem. Disciplines like sociology don't have the same sort of IQ-filter so even becoming a full-time academic within sociology isn't all that impressive.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 03:25 PM
1

I remember watching a talk at google by an IQ researcher who said that you need an IQ of at least 120 to pass linear algebra (a first-year course in a standard maths degree in the UK).
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 03:16 PM
1

Nah, sociology doesn't require a particularly high IQ to get a PhD in. The average math major probably has at least a 10 IQ point advantage over the average sociology PhD student.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 03:13 PM

Tbf degrees aren't a great proxy for success. Eg a woman who got a good score in USAMO or the Putnam is far more impressive to me than a woman who got a PhD in sociology, and the former could easily end up more successful just by getting picked-up by a FANG company before she even finished undergrad.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/25 03:08 PM

This is moronic. You know full well there's a difference between having a visceral liking to something and begrudgingly accepting something due to the lack of any better alternative. I'm sure that if a woman was given the choice between being with a morbidly-obese pensioner or having the world destroyed by nuclear war she'd accept the pensioner, but that doesn't mean she's attracted to him. Learn to reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/25 05:35 PM

Clinical psychologists have a duty of care and a responsibility to not cause undue distress when speaking to vulnerable groups in public. Telling a population of men with high rates of depression and suicidality that they're not good enough and that women are right to want nothing to do with them is a blatant breech of the ethical code which clinicians are expected to abide by.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/25 05:24 PM

If you're speaking to a vulnerable population with high rates of depression and suicidality - especially when you have the authority and duty of care of a clinical psychologist - you should not be saying "you're not good enough and people are right to want nothing to do with you" for obvious reasons. There's a reason he lost his license.

I wasn't making any normative claims, though if I were to make one I'd say that if we want to avoid population collapse from the low birth-rates in the west then we either need polygyny or for women to drastically lower their standards.

If a university requires someone to get an A in maths to enroll, and a student gets rejected due to getting a B instead, then the full explanation for why he didn't get in was because he didn't get an A and because the university required an A. Pretty simple.

Many people don't like it for good reason, as it's hugely overly-simplistic. You obviously shouldn't tell someone in North Korea to "put their house in order before they criticize the world", as Peterson loves to say. Plus he said himself that blaming yourself for all of your problems can lead to depression.

If I'm claiming someone believes something then posting a video of him saying that thing is clearly a source corroborating his believing that thing. You don't seem to grasp the concept of a proof by contradiction - the whole of my post was to prove that both of his beliefs can't be true.

I'm just following Baron-Cohen's parlance, where he defines cognitive empathy merely as the ability to recognize and understand others' mental states. It doesn't matter if that recognition/understanding is borne out of intuition or rigorous analysis, though the former will amost always be more effective than the latter (if a rigorous and exhaustive system could be developed for cognitive empathy, I'm guessing it would be far more complex than the proof of the classification of finite simple grou…

I'm not convinced it's entirely down to environment. Autism is basically an extreme of the male tendency to systematize, so it would make sense that more males than females are born with an autistic brain. Autism has a very strong genetic component and can be detected in new-born babies (if a baby looks at a geometric pattern for far longer than at a human face, it's highly likely that the baby is autistic).
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/25 03:09 PM

I think the big issue is that autistic people are hyper-systematizers so try to understand everything through the lens of an abstract system. I think a distinction needs to be made between personality and social skills. Personality is scientifically understood through the big five (openness to experience, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and neuroticism). I never said anything about verifiability. I think when Baron-Cohen talks about systematising he really means rigorous deductive reasoning within a rule-based environment. In terms of philosophy, although both analytic and continental philosophers may develop "systems", it would mostly be the analytic philosophers whom Baron-Cohen would term systematisers.

I don't think sociology or psychology are examples of systematic subjects in this context. No, the statement he made was "(men are not getting drafted) or (women should get drafted)"="women should get drafted" which is not equivalent to "((men should get drafted) and (women should get drafted)) or ((men shouldn't get drafted) and (women shouldn't get drafted))" which would be the statement of support for gender equality in the draft. Eg, maybe men shouldn't get drafted but women should. Then the first statement would be true but the second would be false.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/24 11:40 PM

You posed an "if-then" statement - ie, "P implies Q" which is logically equivalent to "not P or Q". Since P is true (men are forced to stay and fight) the only way for the statment you made to be true would be for Q to be true; ie, women should be forced to fight, get pregnant etc. Logic 101.

Oh, I didn't know he was a rapist. Now I'm glad Jake Paul beat him up lol.

It's a strong correlate of psychopathy.

And get a better thesaurus lol. I hate to break it to you, but the reality is that I just have a large vocabulary due to having a high IQ.

Actually I added it after you commented xd

I don't think it's fair to ask that about Bach given he was a devout Lutheran
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 10:29 PM

Let's try to keep the decorum please. But my argument was that the sort of psychopathic behaviour that's exhibited in boxing matches is contemptible regardless of how attractive some women may find it.

I'm a straight man so no lol

I know. All psychopaths are disagreeable though.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 06:11 PM

I definitely don't think aggression just means willingness to confront opposition (I'd say that's more courage). And it's pretty obvious that most of them aren't particularly aggressive, though the example I feel most confident in using is Glenn Gould who made a radio programme about how he detests competitive sport and clearly had the hyper-empathy which many autistic people struggle with.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 05:31 PM

Having been exposed to the work of genuine geniuses through things like studying pure mathematics or playing classical piano I can confidently say that the level of intellect and creativity required to box is laughable compared to that of folks like Galois and Gauss. And then cooperation with regards to a "sport" which has knocking your opponent out unconscious as a win condition... L.O.L.

Umm, I'm unfortunately inordinately high in affective empathy (wish I weren't cus it causes a lot of suffering) and I've given up on finding a relationship lol (though there is the confounding variable that I'm mildly autistic).
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 04:47 PM

Yes. I can't watch boxing without feeling physically ill.

/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 04:33 PM

Not true. Psychopaths are excitement-seeking, callous and competitive so naturally love fighting. Tests for psychopathy or low agreeableness often include questions like "I enjoy a good fight".

I agree that men (and women) should be able to stand up for themselves (with aggression if need be); I just don't think that aggression is an intrinsically admirable trait and it certainly doesn't make men more worthy or some BS.

Have a listen to Kissin's recording of Busoni's transcription of Bach's Chaconne and I think you'll agree with me lol
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/24 02:41 PM

Shame. There's nothing I care more about than the unfalsifiable claims of a stranger on the internet who knows next to nothing about me, whom I'll probably never meet in person and about whom I know next to nothing. I'm truly devastated.

Lawyers are farily intelligent tbf. Just nowhere hear the brightest and they're not at all creative.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/24 06:16 PM

Jeez, I hope for the sake of your own mental health that you aren't equally unkind and judgmental towards yourself...
/r/PurplePillDebate29/10/24 01:08 PM

LOL, the difference in pickiness between men and women is really quite something. I feel like the algorithm for most men is: if (woman is not fat): if (woman is fairly psychologically healthy): relationship or sex else: possible sex else: reject (reddit removed my indents, rip)
/r/PurplePillDebate28/10/24 03:09 PM
1

So men who are high in neuroticism are basically screwed? These standards are brutal lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/10/24 02:37 PM
6

Not just better. A lot of the time the 145 IQ person will be able to solve problems which the 115 IQ people will never manage to solve no matter how much time they have. eg I saw a talk at google with a guy saying that you need an IQ of at least 120 to understand linear algebra.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/10/24 11:29 AM

Well, exceptional intelligence gave humanity the microprocessor, the Chopin ballades, Gothic cathedrals, the classification of finite simple groups, etc etc etc...

It almost feels dysgenic for it not to be attractive. Like, he's a top 0.001% man intellectually.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 09:48 PM

Even given his exceptional status within pure mathematics? That's rough lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 09:11 PM

Ah. Well, a ring is already an algebraic structure so I think adding "algebraic" is redundant. I see your point tho lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 03:45 PM

What type of ring theory isn't algebraic? xd
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 03:39 PM

Yeh, I imagine that if he weren't autistic and decided to pursue quantitative finance instead of academia he'd be pretty attractive lol - the qualities which would then confer attractiveness wouldn't be intrinsic to high intelligence though.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 03:01 PM
3

LOL, if one of the greatest living mathematicians isn't that attractive, then high IQ definitely doesn't increase attractiveness to any significant degree 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate27/10/24 02:48 PM
9

Yeh, the crucial part seems to be competency in areas which women actually give a damn about LOL. There definitely aren't many women who care a great deal about how good a man is at Riemannian geometry vs being a good lawyer, banker or athlete... Out of curiosity, how attractive would you say this guy is? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUuECLebqtU

Well you seem like a lovely compassionate person. Keep it up!
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 08:29 PM

You're imposing a social interaction on her so it is an imposition of will. And there are loads of men who appear unconfrontational at first but subsequently don't take no for an answer. That's what women could be preparing for when approached by a man.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 05:28 PM

Oh boy, a Nietzsche fan. Let me guess, you skimmed through "beyond good and evil" and now view yourself as some sort of ubermensch. Yawn. I'm a man btw...
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 05:04 PM

That's quite the leap in logic. Meet people online or through friends or in walking clubs or whatnot. Don't impose your will on a woman who just wants to go about her day in peace.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 04:29 PM

Maybe just prioritize other people's wellbeing over catering to your hedonistic whims?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 04:21 PM

The main issue I have is that it just seems incredibly selfish. Tonnes of women get intimidated by being approached by a random man, and putting your wants over the possibility of causing discomfort to someone completely innocent just seems abhorrent.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/24 04:17 PM
24

She definitely seems abnormally low in compassion, I'll give you that.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/07/24 05:10 PM

You should look up the opinions the great pianist Glenn Gould had on competitive sport lmao. Intelligent and compassionate people do tend to be more averse to rugby (plus any intelligent rugby players probably won't be that way for much longer after all the head trauma lol).
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/24 04:02 PM

I think a big factor is that many men see how much of an uphill battle getting a girlfriend would be and so just give up hope and trying in an effort to find psychological peace (hope can be painful); this would then exacerbate the preexisting asymmetry by bringing many men from having a low probability of finding a partner to having no chance. Talking from personal experience, I genuinely believe that getting a PhD in pure mathematics would be easier than getting a girlfriend (I've already prov…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/24 01:19 PM

Women only care about intelligence insofar as it has the potential to confer status and resources. Women would find a 120 IQ law student far more attractive than a 160 IQ phd student in algebraic topology.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 12:43 PM
3

Given the nature of this thread, I'd assume we're referring more to high IQ when talking about nerds; and men outnumber women like 5:1 for IQs over 145 if I remember correctly.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 06:25 PM
1

The number of women who would be turned-on by a man's command of homological algebra is so tiny as to be effectively zero.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 06:23 PM
3

Refuse to go for nerd girls? My classes are like 90% male lol - there aren't very many nerd girls.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 06:08 PM
2

I'm not sure about that lol. I'm a master's student in pure mathematics and my class-mates and I (IQs probably all over 140) do just as well with women as the red pill would predict lmao.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 05:48 PM
15

So cringe. Please stop trying to gatekeep the definition of what a man is based on what women are attracted to.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 04:24 PM

I never said I agreed with it; just speculated on how women may perceive it.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 11:42 AM

If one considers psychopathy to be abnormal and unhealthy, then according to science.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 03:00 AM

Because it's dangerous and emblematic of the most debased aspects of human nature.

/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 12:27 AM

There's also a very strong relationship between psychopathy and sexual sadism.

Probably because they interpret the immediate power the man has over their lives as him being generally powerful and dominant which they find arousing. I find the thought of doing it vile; but women are attracted to dark-triad men, so what can you do...
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/24 12:16 AM

They don't hate nice guys for being fake; they hate nice guys because they aren't attracted to agreeable men, and will then commit the no true Scotsman fallacy to uphold the pretense that they don't spurn nice and kind men in favour of dark-triad-laden men.
