I know for me as a man, I think it can be hard for us as men to walk into a therapist office and tell them our problems, so I commend you for being open to it. It's a hard first step! Then when my wife went to a baby appointment with her cousin the doc really pushed it. The reasoning now was because it is unsanitary. 🤦But having worked in the OR I can say it's most likely about a way to make more money than anything else.
