I think people understand the laws just fine. You started this whole conversation by saying "If a girl slaps a guy and he hits her in self defense, I'm arresting the guy". Which is the exact thing that most people here think is really unjust. You then immediately resorted to the "just doing my job" defense, which just attempts to cast the blame off yourself without really addressing the issue.

And by all means, apply to be an officer and do good for your community too. I wont, because I wont do something I strongly morally disagree with simply because I'll be paid for it. You're free to, but don't be surprised if people think you're a piece of shit for doing so. You're being shamed in this thread because it seems like you disagree with domestic violence laws, yet still add to the problem because you're paid to do so. None of what you just said discredits his "You're part of the problem" comment. Even though you're now fiscally reliant on being part of the problem, it doesn't mean you didn't choose that position in the first place.

He also said "You call me ignorant cause I have to take a shit?" or something along those lines. Still far from spewing profanity, and I feel that she should be more worried about teaching the children that it's OK to harass strangers.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
