I completely agree, I just saw that comment and remembered what my Psych textbook said, so I thought I would contribute to the conversation by describing what I read. I am not trying to make anything into a competition. Just saying that women statistically are more likely to suffer from mental illness, especially anxiety and depression. I agree that women have infinitely more resources for stuff like that, not to mention the empathy gap.

According to my Pscyh textbook, this is false. Women are statistically more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression, and a whole swath of other mental health issues and illnesses.

In my experience, which is entirely anecdotal, and therefore meaningless, women are not more likely to lie. However, they do seem to be more likely to delude themselves, which results in them saying things that are patently untrue. For example: "I cheated on my boyfriend because he wasnt paying enough attention to me, that's the reason. By cheating on him, he will see that he needs to be a better boyfriend, and therefore a better person. I am helping him become a better man. I did this for him, …

Innately speaking, I would agree with you. But there is ABSOLUTELY a considerable discrepancy in the way men and women are socialized. As a man, we are socialized to put others first, to treat women with respect, to provide for them and protect them. We are socialized to trust them, as if they could no wrong. Im not a woman, so I cant say exactly how they are socialized. But perhaps, the difference could contribute to a discrepancy in how often we all lie.

He probably wants to bang her. If I remember correctly, an experiment was does on dating apps using pictures of very attractive men to see if women would go out with a guy who was a self-proclaimed perpetrator of sexual violence in his bio, and it turns out they were happy to. Point is, horny people want to bang anyone theyre attracted to, even rapists

Bruh. Women are born with significantly less physical strength/coordination. That's just one of many ways women are disadvantaged. Much like the other comment youre responding to, I'm not saying one is better than the other. But the reality is that there are plenty of ways in this life and this world that women are disadvantaged.

Im Jewish. Does that mean I should get to kill some 20 year old germans in modern times? Or at least define the entire nation as pieces of trash?

I'm not exactly sure. However, she did "have"/see the kids a couple weekends out of each month, besides my friend, as he was old enough to want nothing to do with her. Im guessing she was getting money from him because she didnt work, and he did. So somehow, her needs took priority over her kids or her husband, I guess? Cant allow a woman to have to work for her own money, that would be criminal! /s

That is so sad. When I was 14, my childhood best friend had a mother and a father. His mother was the KINDEST, SWEETEST, ANGEL of a woman. Everyday after school, she would have freshly baked chocolate chip cookies waiting for us, she could never say an unkind word, a freaking angel. His dad on the other hand, he was a bit more strict, he insisted my friend do his homework, that he take care of his obligations. Well, one day, when we were 14, his mom decided she wasnt feeling it anymore, I guess.…

The US Census Bureau released a bunch of data in 2022 for the year of 2021 completely proving that the wage gap has been entirely destroyed. Obviously, in some areas, men make 5 more cents on the dollar than women, and in other areas women make 20 cents more on the dollar than men, but the national average is under a single cent. However, I wonder if women, despite working less hours in less dangerous jobs, are getting paid just as much anyway? I wonder if the wage gap actually favors women now?…

Who is peddling false information? Also, if you knew the answer, why did you ask the question? If I explained the answer to your question in my comment, why did you ask it?

When I was 19, I knew this girl named Heather who was literally twice my weight (280lb to 140lb). I had made it explicitly clear to her that I was not interested in her sexually. But one time, she invited me over, fed me drugs, and I blacked out. She proceeded to feed me more drugs, including but not limited to painkillers, LSD, MDMA, adderall(speed), xanax, fentanyl, and a bunch of tabs of 25i. I dont remember much, but she raped me, and afterwards I think I had a ministroke or something from a…

Well there's your problem buddy. Stop playing these ridiculous games, stop watching pick-up artists or whatever it is youre doing. Just be your fucking self. Ive never been on a "date", because I dont go out with people to find out if I like them. If I meet a woman and we like each other, we wont have to do all that nonsense. You both just know. Stop trying to manipulate people. If youre attractive and sociable, you wont have any issues at all. In fact, youll likely find yourself being single on…

Dude that is quite a generalization. I personally dont fuck with dating apps and never have, and I wouldnt doubt that it's often like that in regards to online dating. But in my experience, in real life with real women, if she's attracted to you, it wont fucking matter how fast you respond or even much of what you say. Take the advice of a lot of the other commenters and go through life with goals outside of romantic relationships, and if youre attractive enough, theyll fall into your lap every …

Thanks! I thought it was pretty funny too. Ill be honest, I didnt read any of the 6 studies at the bottom of the article he posted. I have a bit of a hard time believing you read all 6 from beginning to end, but Ill give you the benefit of the doubt, because Im a hilariously sarcastic guy. Interestingly enough though, I literally just got done doing my homework for my general psych class (elective). And while reading the textbook, I came across some interesting stuff that I think is fairly relev…

Oh fun! Let me try. According to peer reviewed research, men are over 10 times more likely to commit intimate partner homicide. HOWEVER, I grew up in an intensely abusive household in which my mother was the perpetrator and my brother, my father and I were the victims. In addition, I have known more abusive women than I have men, especially in terms of physical abuse. THEREFORE, women are OBVIOUSLY more likely than men to murder their partners, EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE BE DAMNED! Because you know, Ive…

She doesnt understand how math works, she isnt worth your time. My mother is the exact same way. You can tell her that COVID has less than a 1% chance of hospitalization according to the CDC, and she'll tell you thats not true because she has a friend who works in a hospital and that friend is really stressed out and upset and sad and frustrated. To some people, feelings trump empirical evidence, and always will.

Articles provide sources, and you can check those sources. Now you know how to access empirical evidence.

I know I'm reaching, and I'm not trying to defend him, but if you look at the history of our species, human nature, which includes both male and female nature, its pretty horrendous. I mean, we suck, hard, and that includes females. Understanding the fallacy that is the "women are wonderful effect", allows one to view women as equally capable of wrongdoing, which means, extremely capable of doing awful shit. And considering the power women have in regards to our legal system, they are more legal…

It's not your fault. I was a male feminist into my late teens. Ill never forget being around 7 years old, hearing the word feminist for the first time, asking my parents what it meant, and when they told me, I remember thinking "That's me! I'm a feminist!" But as Ive grown older, Ive learned not to believe everything I hear, and I've learned to think critically and for myself. Hopefully your daughter will do the same.

I got banned on my first account (which I deleted in an attempt to stop commenting) from r/trueoffmychest for responding to a comment that called all MRAs toxic misogynist rape apologists by saying that not all MRAs hate women and that MRAs and feminists would do well to communicate and work together. They banned me for "promoting hate speech", because I responded to hate speech with positive speech. The feminists are everywhere on reddit, and they are all for censorship. Honestly, that tells me…

Okay, I don't see how any of that is relevant though. I am also an SA survivor, actually, I was drugged and raped by a woman twice my weight, so severely that I was hospitalized after she pushed me out her front door on the verge of death without my shoes. She drugged me way too hard, in case that wasnt clear. I Almost died, and the possibility of her facing consequences for that never even crossed my mind, as I am a man and she is a woman. I dont even get to be angry that she will never face an…

Re-read the quote. You seemed to have missed the majority of it. It's not about a couple individuals. It's about the leaders, scholars, owners, etc of the movement. The people who actually represent it, affect it, mold it, and put it into practice via lobbying and policy etc. That is what defines any movement, not some random person on the internet. That's what the quote explains, and yet you read it as "it's just a couple bad apples. Im the real feminist", the polar opposite of what it says. Yo…

So what you're saying is that you, a commenter using a username on an internet forum are the true feminist, and the feminists actually responsible for changing the laws, writing the academic theory, teaching the courses, influencing the public policies, and the massive, well-funded feminist organizations with thousands and thousands of members all of whom call themselves feminists... they are not "real feminists". That's not just "no true Scotsman". That's delusional self deception. Listen, if y…

I dont know if it's that men lack unity. It's that literally any time men have ever tried to organize for anything ever, there have been vicious feminist protests. Even when men are organizing to bring attention to hundreds of little boys who were burned alive by terrorists in the middle east, there are loud, angry feminist protests screaming "misogynists!" and "rapists!". And because of where the political and social climate is, if the media does pay attention, it is only ever to side with angr…

It really isnt that black and white. Almost nothing ever is. Sure, men are something like 15 times more likely to murder their partners. But women are something like 20 times more likely to murder their children. There are no "good guys" and "bad guys", which I think is the point of the comments you responded to.

I dont think youre considering the context here. If you randomly started punching holes in the walls of your house, your wife wouldnt be particularly happy and it would absolutely be unacceptable behavior. However, if your wife repeatedly punched you in the face, cut off your finger, manipulated, threatened, and emotionally/verbally abused you for years, and then destroyed your career with false allegations, I would argue that punching holes in the wall out of frustration is a pretty acceptable …

Actually, this statistic is based on data collected by tinder. I get that statistics can be offensive to certain, very sensitive individuals, but unfortunately, that doesnt make the statistics any less true, nor does it make the person citing said statistics sexist. For example, if you told me that 1/3 women will experience sexual assault at some point in their lives, could I call you sexist because you are generalizing women? No. Because that's not how statistics work. It is pretty clear that y…
