Yes, and she's saying that the concept of chivalry is outdated. Back in, say, medieval times, women would struggle without a husband, because they can't take up the sources of work that are available for men and need to rely on someone else for provision much of the time.

UK here: scrapping things just because they're flawed but the intention is good doesn't always help. This might not be entirely relevant, but we had a big vote on getting a better voting system (a referendum) and the proposed system wasn't great, but it was better than first past the post. We voted no, and now it looks like a new voting system will not happen this side of 50 years, which is a bit of a disaster.

I think that in part this is because allied war crimes did not happen to the extent of axis ones. The abuse of prisoners, violation of the geneva convention, holocaust, repression and torturing of civilian population were all either completely or largely axis crimes.

While it's true that she hasn't been convicted (although all evidence we can see points to her having committed the crime) and her sentence hasn't been passed, we can still see her likely sentence, which is absurdly short, and the number of comments below laughing at the situation, with a perception that he was silly to go there and therefore that it's only partially her fault. As a result, regardless of sentencing it's still a useful article to read.

As a male, I used to be a hell of a lot more emotionally unstable until my friends told me it was completely unnecessary and drove the point home. Used to cry at all sorts of stupid things. I wouldn't go quite that far. The law is still relevant and useful, it's just not necessary as law: we have it as a record of how God wanted the Israelites to behave. The new testament also frequently quotes the old testament and uses it in teachings etc, not as an irrelevancy. But let's not start an argument. I only wanted to say that that's a pretty broad, unflinching statement for a slightly more complicated issue (the relationship between OT and NT and their relevance for the Christian).

I'm not sure, as a Christian, how circumcision is tied to my religion. The bible explicitly says you shouldn't go and do it, because it's unnecessary. Anyway, yeah, you're right: there are bigger fish to fry. With that said, some small focus on a very preventable issue might not be so bad, especially since it could be a stepping stone to greater issues being resolved.
