You're not actually this dense are you. Generally, it is illegal to perform genital mutilation on baby girls. Generally, it is NOT illegal to perform genital mutilation on baby boys. There's the double standard, and the issue. Why is female genital mutilation illegal? Were there baby girls protesting this? No? Oh, was it adult women who had been mutilated when they were a baby? You would listen to their protests and support their concerns, right? You would acknowledge that it's a rights issue an…

This issue is a men's rights issue. It's not a religious issue - many atheist parents are mutilating, or, circumcising their baby boys. It's not a cultural issue - as it's not a practice that only one culture does - many do. A infant baby is not a man. Your parents including your father signed off on that. Not a violation of men’s rights issue again, show me an 18yo forced to circumcise and I will possibly agree. Using your [insane] logic: an infant baby is not a woman, so mutilating her genital…

Female genital mutilation is outlawed and illegal in most countries in the world. Male genital mutilation or circumcision is perfectly legal particularly in the West. It's a double standard, as her body her choice, and his body his choice, are what should be respected. But that's not how it is here in the US and Canada. So, this is one example of a men's rights issue.

Maybe give this a read if you are here in genuine good faith Otherwise, a really simple easy question for you: should men have the right to bodily autonomy? I believe everyone should have the right to bodily autonomy and I support her body her choice. But my lived experience? I was not given the right to bodily autonomy - I was circumcised - my body but not my choice. I wish my parents had not done that to me, as I'd rather not be circumcised. But I was never afforded that right to make that cho…

So you believe women were never discriminated against in history. No. Women have absolutely been discriminated against in history. As have men, As have every identity you can think of. I'm sorry but it's a sad truth. I'm not aware of one particular set of being (race/gender/sex or however you identify) as having complete superiority and immunity over all others. As in - we all suffer. I don't know of a human who hasn't suffered in some way.... The real issue? Class divide / warfare. It's been go…

Generally speaking women aren't willing to make the necessary sacrifices to pursue leadership roles. Is it mens fault that women don't make those choices?

You don't understand! Men suffer under the patriarchy as well. This is why we should be allies we want the same thing!!! It's men's fault that society is the way it is!!! Men perpetuate the patriarchy! No woman or girl has ever had any impact on society nor are they responsible for how things are! Duh! /s Joking aside this is how a feminist responded to me when I said patriarchy isn't a thing and that they should educate themselves on world history because there have been very powerful and impac…

No, thinking that (and other comments you've expressed here) is lacking in logic and is unhealthy.

This isn't unique to men either though. Most people are still kids inside in some sense or way.

The # of boys who require it for medical reasons is incredibly low, less than 2%.
/r/MensRights05/07/22 12:04 AM

Chances of that are quite low. Again, you'd have to be lacking a lot of hygiene for that to occur.

The media and politicians are aligned and controlled by the same big club, in case you weren't aware.

The issue is majority privilege. The majority group in any society has advantages over the minority groups. It's that way everywhere in the world, but in the west, instead of acknowledging majority privilege it's instead called white privilege (since whites are the majority group) by the media in order to create division and have folks fighting each other.

You're showing how you know nothing of natural law, also, making gross assumptions about what I must mean. If that's how you converse with peeps it speaks volumes of your character.

That's not it at all. You have a lot to learn.

They behave in accordance with natural law. If humans operated with an understanding of natural law we'd be far better off. But too many people walk around with beliefs and delusions that aren't real, such as "being vegan/vegetarian is a moral high ground".

They don't. And no, I won't argue with you, I learned long ago not to argue with stupid.

That being said, I really do think vegetarians have the moral high ground. You think that all you want, nothing escapes the fact that in this universe life consumes life. It's a cycle that can't be escaped while here. You cherry picking some forms of life and putting them on a pedestal as if they shouldn't be eaten is you being you, it says nothing of morality in any true sense. Lots of vegans / vegetarians get upset when they hear this cause their believed moral superiority being questioned hur…

She said he has everything to be the one except one thing holding him back. And she even says he can be the one if it weren't for that, and ponders whether it's a timing or iteration thing. Then, in the first movie, at the end, that one condition is fulfilled and he becomes the one. In the second and third movies everyone including the oracle refers to him as the one. Like you're choosing to cherry pick a line from the oracle from early in the first movie while disregarding everything else she s…

Just because he wasn't the one doesn't mean his spotlight was stolen. What? 3 movies all centered around one person, Neo, becoming 'the one' which is the main storyline. Main hero, main storyline, he was certainly in the spotlight. Now a 4th movie comes out and a previous side character is now 'the one' and the story revolves around that. How is that not a shift in spotlight? How could you possibly reason that?

Why do you guys care about circumcision... I'm circumcised and I'm fine. What's the deal? You're okay with the idea that you'll never know what sex is naturally supposed to feel like? (Foreskin has a significant number of nerve endings - if you're circumcised you're not feeling everything that you otherwise would / naturally should). That you've never had a natural penis in an unharmed form (at least, not that you remember)? That the decision to remove part of an organ from your body was one you…

she’s come up several times with the argument that, I, as a white male, cannot understand what feminist women and women in general are living... She then adds that this can be compared to Racism, in the sense the, I, as a white male, cannot understand the struggle of black people, because of my nature. This kind of identity politics / thinking is pure bullshit. It's an attempt to try and rob you of having any degree of empathy - as if the ability to understand another human being has anything to…

Both genders play important roles in the furthering of the human race. There are things men have a general tendency to do better than women. And there are things women have a general tendency to do better than men. There are always exceptions to this, both ways, but those are more the uncommon/rare individuals than generalizations that can be applied to the group. If you want to posit or assert that men are redundant and detrimental you'll have to do a lot more to build that argument - it just d…

I'm just calling it as I see it, usually when people resort to caps, swearing and attacking someone there's emotion behind it. Nice try at deflecting though. There's plenty of reasons, some are complex. Suffering comes in many forms and people will seek vices and ways to escape, such as engaging in self destructive behavior, due to depression, abuse, harassment, just to name a few. But no, according to you they must have chosen to suffer...

No you're clearly not emotional at all you're just swearing and attacking other people because you're level headed. Yep, that's what level headed people do... And if you can't think of other reasons why men might engage in those behaviors than you are really as obtuse as I thought you were. And you have the gall to call me a moron. Laughable.

I am not making any such claims, and I am not delusional. It seems you took my comment personally hence the emotionally charged comment? I've asked you above, that if you do not align with those ideas (which I've stated are shortsighted and unhelpful) then you are free to clarify your position. Your response continues to be unhelpful and not productive. You seem eager to completely ignore why men might behave in such ways and are adamant to focus on just those behaviours as if they exist in a va…

No, here are your comments: There is no amount of social attitude adjustment that will make sedentary behavior and red meat every night into healthy behavior. There is no amount of social attitude adjustment that will make risky behavior not risky; if currently risky things are made safe, young men will find something else because that is the point. We can work on better health care for heart disease, and we are... but short of self-clones heart and vascular grafts, we’ll still only be treating …

...”Men also account for 80 per cent of all suicide deaths, mainly because they’re more aggressive than women in attempts on their own lives. You're obtuse if you think the reason for committing suicide lies in the way in which they want to attempt to commit said suicide - you're not actually addressing what has led them to that point. ...”And men begin to suffer cardiac problems seven to nine years earlier than women, largely the result of poorer diet, greater alcohol use and the fact that olde…

For some further pondering: - What is "bad" behaviour? - What if someone else has a differing opinion on what that is? - What if you try and hold that someone to account - think you'll meet any resistance? - If so - who do you think is right? - And, do you think we can all agree on what is objectively bad? Isn't it subjective? - Lastly, do you really think it's worth calling out bad behaviour whenever you see it?

Eh, what I meant by objectively was to apply an absolutist position that men are outright privileged overall, but I agree with what you're saying, think it mirrors the latter parts of what I raised. Cheers.

Have yet to hear one. Just because you disagree with someones view doesn't invalidate their view. If anything it reflects how different your values are. Otherwise you're right and I did misquote the opener, my apologies, I read too quickly. With that being said... there's this: "Masculinity ideology,” Skillings said, was important to highlight because it “represents a set of characteristics that are unhealthy for men — men who are sexist or violent or don’t take care of themselves.” The report a…

So why are they so zealously resistant to an article criticizing some obviously negative aspects of masculinity? No one has even met me halfway and admitted some aspects of masculinity are negative, all I get is "men are men" or "STOP ATTACKING ME REEEEEE". There are valid reasons being raised as to why the article/report is being resisted and there are users (like myself) who've admitted there are negatives to masculinity - but it isn't all negative which is what one would believe if they drank…

Tell that to the people in this these threads who seem to think masculinity is 100% perfect with no negatives. I haven't seen anyone claim it's 100% perfect with no negatives. I see people clarifying that masculinity isn't 100% negative. Those are very different things. Is the point not to talk about the negative aspects of masculinity? It wouldn't make sense to mention the positives. So you actually think a psychological association should ONLY report on negative aspects of masculinity? Are you…

There are positive and negative aspects to most things: whether we're discussing masculinity or femininity. And if you think this is true: “Traditional masculinity ideology has been shown to limit males’ psychological development, constrain their behavior, result in gender role strain and gender role conflict and negatively influence mental health and physical health,” the report warns. Then you're projecting the same bias that those report-writers are. It would be better to recognize both posit…

I think it stems from our biology - even in other species the male behaves as protector of females. I think we're wired to respond more to women especially if they are in distress. For example it isn't uncommon to see a woman in distress out in public receive the help of strangers/bystanders. If those same people instead saw a man in distress it is rare to see someone try to intervene and break it up (what's worse is in some occasions people will intervene but not to break it up - instead choosi…

Nope not banned from there yet and I try and comment against the identity politics bs that gets posted - I find if you can present a logical explanation showing how it's bs peeps tend to appreciate / upvote though there's also often someone to debate with - often find it difficult to have an honest debate though - lots of ad hominem and strawmen get thrown my way, but it's easy enough to point out and at a certain point I find it isn't worth trying to keep debating someone who is so far gone int…

Don't do yourself what you are asking me not to do. Not for everyone happiness stems from within. I think you are misunderstanding the statement at this point, I elaborate on this later on, which you agree on at that point. With regards to introversion vs extroversion, those again fall on a spectrum. You aren't wholly one or the other. There will be moments in your life you lean more towards one end than the other and there is nothing wrong with any of it. Perhaps those moments are brief but the…

Likewise, thank you for opening up with the questions. I wasn't talking about necessity, but happiness Happiness is another funny thing, many people search for it outside of themselves not realizing it stems from within. my question is: are you saying that your opinion about relationships and be happier alone, depends on your experiences? IMO, I think it depends upon both your biology and experiences. How you're wired (so to speak) will give you certain predispositions, but just because you're p…

When you say it is denial, you do understand that is entirely from your perspective, and all you are doing is applying your beliefs and perspectives, your expectations on what ought to occur, to a whole group of men, some whom, like myself and /u/grasshopa, actually are perfectly happy on their own? You're most certainly entitled to your own perspective on life and can pursue your beliefs to achieve your own fulfillment and happiness - and they don't have to align with anyone else's - their your…

Don't you think that perhaps the reason you make slightly less, as you say, has everything to do with your lack of experience in this new role? I know in every company I've worked for, people starting out in a position are paid less than their counterparts who have experience. I hope that as you gain experience and prove yourself, you're then paid an equal rate to another person with the same experience.
