OMG, this hits home because this is EXACTLY how I feel. "Flick of a switch" really resonates with me, because, just like you, I will never get the answer to the situation. I still haven't hit the acceptance phase because I'm holding out for the hope she comes to her senses, but based on your story, I should plan on to learn how to <embrace> the situation and find myself. My wife claimed I'm mentally unstable. Sure, I have depression and anxiety, but I'm not unstable...That's not me being in denial, lol. The wife pulled the mental health card on me to get a preliminary protective order. Sure, I had an outburst that may have been over the top, but that incident "escalated" because she "shushed" me and completely undermined my attempt to correct my child's behavior.
