Good to know the word is "continuance", Im trying to get all the verbiage together before Thursday, thanks.

There should be some verbiage in the divorce petition stating you should respond by x days. It’s usually 30 days from the date of service. It’s also really strange to schedule a hearing so close to the date you were served. If you dodged being served for a week the hearing would’ve been cancelled since you wouldn’t have been served. I will read through all the verbiage, thanks for the advice. Good call on wasting the court's time.

You are exactly right on the planning. I am preparing the Pro Se documents to present the court on Thursday. Monday I will start calling divorce lawyers.

When you mention that it moves slowly, can you elaborate? I have my hearing before the judge this Thursday, so shouldn't I get an attorney before this date?

If I try and I am unable to get an attorney, any advice on how to prepare or what to tell the judge?

I'm reading it now, thanks for that. I drank for 30 years but have been sober for 2. I didnt start drinking again after this, thanks God. Thanks for the read!

I need a good 2.0 version of me. I had it right before Covid, lost weight, got in shape, etc. Looking forward to getting that back. The weight has been dropping off lately!

Thinking about the future is good for me. I am a planner, so part of this being so hard for me is that we had future plans and had been diligently working on that plan for 20+ years now. After getting through Covid, I thought we had it made. I was wrong.

I know based on logging into our account, but I haven't logged in to see if a payment has been credited, hence the uncertainty. I am sure its not changed, so two months we are behind.

Can you DM me the link to your TikTok, I found a French version, but I can't find yours. Thanks.

I drank for 30 years and got sober two years ago. I gotta tell you, the first I wanted to reach for was a blackberry seltzer that had been left in my fridge. My brother came by over the weekend and drank it. I was so happy to have it gone. I appreciate your words because my drinking would have only make everything much worse.

I've reached that conclusion too. This is all part of her plan. I know that now. That was part of the shock, not seeing any of this coming and being blind sided.

"I would take the silence as what you need right now, whether you know it or not" Good advice. I think I'm seeing now that having quiet and peace, in order to process and think, would have been impossible without her gone. And I didn't know it till I posted, so thanks. You guys are a big help.

Bingo on the emotional abuse. I felt like I've been on eggshells for the past 6 months, just not rocking the boat. The quiet has been nice.

Thanks for your comment. I will reach out to one of my kids that are passing info on to her, to see if she will respond to the logistics. Even though everything will be split, for now, the house deed is in my name, so it seems like the only control I have, along with short term money coming in, is to sell the house. I've talked to my realtor, and she will get it active by the end of next week, hopefully. So we may have our first open house soon. Based on how housing is here in Dallas, hopefully …

No, I can't afford an attorney. She handles our mortgage and I found recently that she didn't pay it the last two months, possibly to fund an attorney. I dont even know if attorneys offer this, but if I can pay the attorney fees out of our house proceeds that would be great.

I have to focus on the silence, peace and quiet, excellent point. Ive been kind of hating the quiet but you've helped me see it differently, thanks.

I do believe in God and have spent a lot of time thinking about how future me benefits from the short term stuff that Im going thru now. Repentance is powerful stuff.

Good point on being a different person. Ive been thinking through things for almost a month now, but only this week found out about everything for sure being over. They say if you want to really find out who a person is, divorce them.

Can't imagine being in the same house that long. This lack of communication is tough because we are trying to get our house on the market before it gets foreclosed (I think she may have not paid the mortgage for the last 2 months for her attorneys fees) on and it's impossible since we dont have lawyers yet.

I feel like a fucking cliche, but Im still in the early phases of processing everything and this shit still sucks

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
