Nothing since you chose this for your own good reasons.

I think you're absolutely right. They are anonymous, so they act up.

I am sorry that others reacted that way. Like me, they may not understand at the moment that it really is great and not a bad thing. They have a narrow focus, which is skewed, but I understand that it sucks a lot to have to defend against their attitudes. I am glad, though, that you both agree and are happy.

Yes, I meant our lives as women are sometimes messy. (Thinking of my own in particular.) Sorry, I wasn't clear. Like I know that there are facets of my life that a new love interest might not want to be burdened with. Like a stalker ex, for example.

I think part of the difference is age. Mine, I mean. When you are a young girl just out of high school, you are just entering the professional world. And when you see the first occurrence of something unsavory on the job, you think of the stories that you have heard about sexism in the workplace. So you think that you have seen it now. Fast forward 30 years. You have seen many cases where women seem to have faced mistreatment, but you have also seen (if you are paying attention with a critical e…

There are women who fail to recognize that being a stay-at-home parent is a choice for many as well as an economic privilege. As a young woman, I failed to understand this, but rather than blaming the men I was convinced that the women were taking us backwards by staying home. As I got older, though, my view changed. (I have no kids and was never married.) I learned much, much more about raising kids by watching my elderly mother and father raising my sister's oldest child. And I started to see …

Yes and it seems like the worst elements on both sides are getting the most press, which makes women think men are worse and men think women are worse.

Yes, I have known a few people like that. It's like human nature, I think. My mother and dad were like your friend and his ex. Mom was in your friend's position and did practically everything. But my ex-boyfriend is in your friend's situation with his current wife. He does everything.

I am a feminist, and I agree with you. I am in the US, so I can't really do much about Scotland. But it is weird how we as humans try to artificially create double standards for no good reason. In the US, there are many women who enjoy the male strip shows, but the same women will object to their husband's porn. As a pro-porn woman, I have never understood this. As for people openly discussing their "conquests", I don't think either gender should do this publicly. It is just bad manners and low …

Yes, as a woman I can tell you that there are feminists and feminazis. Feminists want equal rights for all men, boys, women, girls, and Lgbtqia people of all races and religions. The TERFs (feminazis) are, I think, the less egalitarian ones who exhibit the most hostility publicly.

Feminist woman here. I also said online that the woman rapist deserved to go to prison. Many argued against me as well. I wish I could find a way to convince others that rape is rape and it is a crime that does immense damage. No one should point to the miscarriages in justice of years gone by and use that as an excuse not to address recent crime. I was met with a lot of whataboutisms. As for the rude, mean girl that the OP was dealing with, I am sorry that she was not brought up right, and I ho…

As a woman, I think that is human nature. A pretty girl is more favored by male bosses too. Just as teachers of both genders favor attractive kids. Beauty is truth and truth beauty...

Well said. As a feminist woman, I also want to say that if a woman doesn't agree to go on a date with you, it IS NOT NECESSARILY anything against you. People have messy lives, and sometimes they just know that they aren't in the right headspace to start something new.

As a female, I have always been against circumcision. Terrible to do that to a baby boy! It's child abuse hidden under the label "tradition".

I am a woman, and I have been falsely accused of saying offensive stuff on the job twice before (given a final warning at both places). This is a game bosses play when they want to get rid of somebody they don't like. My accusers were both women clericals whom my bosses had power over. I agree that in your case the accuser had prejudice against you.

As a woman, I have always felt bad about how men are taken advantage of in society in terms of doing certain tasks. For example, a tire needs changed, or a tree needs cut down. So often, everyone calls the nearest guy. Like, I see why my brother-in-law wants to hide on Saturdays because the whole neighborhood is looking for a "man" to do "men's work" (rural Red state). (PS, I can change tires, and I have cut trees with an AXE. Just remarking on the need for equality. Skills need to be taught/lea…

Both sides have their flaws. I am a feminist (old, though) and I have always taken heat from other feminists for saying men deserve equal parental rights and women should have to register for the draft.

Sometimes women as observers agree with some of your points. We have husbands, boyfriends, friends, brothers, and sons who are affected by inequality in men's rights. We look at rights through the lens of our lives but also the lives of others we love.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
