I’m as white as white boy that ever whited, but I speak pretty fluent Spanish. The clerks outside my office were talking shit about their boss in Spanish and one of them called her a “bruja” (witch) as I walked by and I laughed out loud before I could stop myself. They looked at each other like “oh shit” and one of them said “guero habla!”, before she realized I understood THAT as well and then we all died laughing.

Are you familiar at all with our criminal justice system? Due process.

Jail is also for people that have been convicted of misdemeanors.

I’ve seen people get less time for murder charges. This belongs here. It is a sentence in line with common sentencing.

I know that judge. I guarantee if there hadn’t been a plea deal, she’d have gotten a lot more time.

She was sentenced federally to 13 years, and a lifetime of supervision. Read the article before commenting.

You are joking, right? Unless you are specifically referring to abortion, women obviously have the right to make their own medical decisions. Even in the context of abortion your statement is loaded.

Yeah, that’s not going to stop a paternity suit. There have been times when rape victims have been forced to pay child support to their fucking rapists.

An amnesty period is a good solution. But let me try the ELI5 version to see if I understand: If someone accuses someone of rape, the accused is not convicted, and it is proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the accuser lied, accuser can be convicted and sentenced. If the accused is convicted, then the accuser can’t be sentenced to encourage the accuser to come forward. Issues: if you have a convicted accused, why would an accuser come forward? Then there is the problem of getting a “not guilty”…

That statute only applies to a very specific circumstance in which the presumed father has signed an acknowledgment of paternity. I have re-read the relevant sections of code, and your response is either fairly misleading or misguided. Even then, you still can rescind an acknowledgment.

You can challenge paternity at ANY time in Texas. Yes you could be listed as the presumed father, but a genetic test will sort that RIGHT the fuck out. Source: am lawyer.

That seems like there’s two different standards for each sex though...they should come up with a term for that... /s

Don’t get me started. I have done a LOT of criminal defense work and it’s astounding. I saw a guy set off the metal detectors at the courthouse and when the deputy wanded him, it beeped on the pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket because of the foil paper. Guy immediately stiffens, deputy opens the pack and there’s a mini baggie of OBVIOUSLY COKE, and the guy immediately utters the most classic line ever of “that’s not mine.”

I know a guy that named his FO76 character some kind of variation of like “DeelishusBewbs21” and literally catfished pinnacle end game gear from the suckers that had zero “It’s A Trap” radar.

God I hate the term “simp”. Back in my day we just called them “suckers”. Haha seriously though my friends and I go back and forth I what is the definition of simp vs (term T_D used for anyone that disagrees with them). They’re similar but not the same.

The fact that they tried to emulate/replace the Danny/Rusty rapport shows how unoriginal it was. Not only couldn’t they do their own thing, they did it BADLY.

Pretty much. Often they’re just incapable of reassessing things. Their outlook is this; its for the courts to settle.

Typically the definition of resisting arrest requires physical resistance. As the saying goes “words alone are never enough”.

I’m a criminal defense attorney (US). In ten years of practicing, I’ve NEVER seen anyone talk their way out of an arrest, despite what the Jaeger Bombs are telling them. Fight it in court, not in the street, or you’re facing additional charges. Best case scenario is cooperate, maybe they’ll fuck up real bad and you’ll have the last laugh. Talk all the shit you want, unless you get physical they can’t hold it against you.

Yes depends on the state, but mutual combat is kind of like, y’all agreed to fight, no one tried to retreat.

So she will remain in jail until she posts bond. If she does, she's out until/if she's convicted. Since the child is so young, it's going to be aggravated sexual assault of a minor, 5-99.

How long what? That's not how bonds work. The bond is in effect until the case is resolved by dismissal, plea, or a trial verdict. Source: am lawyer.
