I'm a sort of big guy and I boxed for a while, but if a woman hits me in the back of the head with a rolling pin it wouldn't matter if I was prime Mike Tyson.

What bothers me (aside from all the obvious stuff that's been discussed already) is the way that a "masculine environment" is used to say something is bad. There doesn't seem to be any explanation as to why its bad, because for this writer and her audience, it's an established fact that something being masculine is bad and a cause for concern. It's almost like how I wouldn't have to qualify why a space being racist is a bad thing, because we all already know why.

Well, it is. I'm not sure where you grew up that 10 year olds sat down and resolved their differences diplomatically over tea, but most of us got in a few fights at that age.

While there probably are some men doing manly things to look manlier than they are, has it never occurred to feminists that those things are considered manly because many men actually enjoy them? Do they think that every single man lifting weights is just trying to bluff all the other men into accepting them? If 100,000 men watch a sports game, is every last one just there to look manly for the other 99,999, with none of them actually having any fun? Its like they're so caught up in the idea tha…

The best part is that they're managing to be sexist against both men and women at the same time, just in different ways.

I'm tall and I'm irritated by it too. It's fine for women to have preferences, but this whole "short men aren't real men" thing is so pointlessly hateful.

No they're not. Nobody gets a free pass to be a jerk to me because of what people who look like me did to people who look like them a long time ago. That's not how society moves forward.

You're changing your argument halfway through. What I have a problem with is the attitude of "your group had its turn to be mean to us, now we get to be mean to you". An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
/r/MensRights11/02/18 09:51 PM

You need to get it through your head, that you're "demeaning" people who weren't even born yet when your group was being oppressed. Also, two wrongs don't make a right, and no, it's not healthy. Some of us are kind people. Aspire to be one of those people.

I support their free speech to say whatever they want, but some things shouldn't be socially acceptable to say. Thinking someone is an idiot for saying something isn't the same as censoring them.

So you agree with the feminist that it's a misogynistic thing that men do to women, based on how you didn't like it when a woman did it to you? How does something that nobody likes, but happens to both sexes, equal sexism against women?

How is telling someone to smile a sexist thing? I'm a man, and women tell me to smile all the time (I'm not an unhappy guy, I just have resting murder face). Sure, it's annoying, but like many things feminists go on and on about, it happens to everyone equally, and therefore can't be sexist.

I've been slammed onto concrete before (went off the edge of the mats in a multi use gym with concrete floors), and it does indeed hurt like a bitch. However, it looks as if he kept her head from contacting the ground, so the impact probably knocked the wind out of her and bruised her up, but that all heals. "A quick jab", as you suggest he should have done, could have knocked her down and had her head bounce off the ground. People have died from single punches like that.

Comical overreaction, though, doesn't really register as a joke when it's an everyday occurrence. It's like telling a big fish take about catching a 3 pound bass. That's pretty normal, so how would I know that it's a hyperbole and not just what actually happened? You can joke about whatever you want, I just don't think the people who down voted your OP knew you were joking.
/r/MensRights05/10/16 03:23 PM

For it to work as comical overreaction, it has to be something that doesn't happen in real life. People actually shoot other people over words all the time, so without personally knowing you, we're left with the assumption that you're that kind of person.

While I haven't been to a women's rape defense course, I've been in plenty of martial arts and self defense training. Every one I've seen has drilled into its students that fighting is your last option. Your first choice is to not get into dangerous situations to start with, and plan b is to run away. I'm not saying all programs teach this, but if they're even halfway decent they do.

If the wage gap were true, men would all be out of work in any capitalist society. Businesses don't spend money they don't have to.

I spend a good amount of time in a gym. It's pretty common for women to wear shorts that are both shorter and tighter than my underwear is. I wouldn't go out in my underwear if I wasn't ok with people looking at me, so I don't feel bad about taking a few looks at anyone wearing less than that. It's degrading to women to think that they could put those shorts on, look in the mirror, and be too stupid to realize how sexually they are dressed.

I second your bullshit. If I put my right hand in pocket while I wave with my left hand (with a wedding ring on it) and say hello, women respond in a friendly way. If I put my left hand in my pocket and wave with my right while saying hello, women seem afraid of me. The only difference I'm aware of is that the ring says I'm not hitting on them. I know this isn't exactly a controlled double-blind study, but I see it enough to believe it myself. I think any man who can be visually identified as no…

If men drive 99% of the cabs, but only cause 80% of the crashes, looks like men are better drivers. I know I'm not factoring in all the vehicles that aren't cabs, but I want to try my hand at dishonestly manipulating statistics, too.

I think the point russelln was making is that the reason you don't find out she's female until the end is because they don't make a big deal out of it through the whole game. She does dangerous, badass stuff, and doesn't need to use sexuality to appeal to the gamer. She does everything a male action protagonist would do, and that's why it's a surprise the first time you see the helmet come off. Isn't that what feminism supposedly wants? To be treated as equals to man, no better or no worse in an…

Wary means to be cautious or aware of potential danger. Weary means you're exhausted. I was going to let it slide but every comment below you copied the mistake so now we have a whole discussion about people being tired of men. The world would be a much better place if more people were like you and could be cautious without being hateful.

By that logic, attempted murder isn't a crime because the accused can't murder as hard as someone who succeeded. Failing at a crime doesn't make you innocent. Secondly, some women can hit as hard as men. The head trainer at the gym I train at lifts more than I do (and my lifts aren't bad for a 180 lb male) and she is a woman. Lastly, even an average woman or child can do some serious damage if they know where and how to hit (or get very lucky). but they wouldn't listen. This is the only reason y…

They are comparable in that creep shaming is something women use against men, while slut shaming is something women use against other women. Men do both, but it seems to me that women use both far more often.

Heart disease is a woman's issue because men are heartless bastards, right? In reality, they have literally no reason to give more funding to women on a disease like this other than "women and children first" mentality that doesn't care about the suffering of men. As OP pointed out, there is no statistic or science, however flimsy, to hide their sexism behind.

You're right, I'm not trying to be pacifistic about protecting men's rights; he's just looking to pick fights that don't need to be fought. He doesn't have to be for FGM to be against MGM. It's not like there's only so many rights to go around and we have to take them from women to have them ourselves. How about we all get to keep our genitals?

You can't just dismiss someone as subhuman, their problems as unimportant, and then expect them to be overflowing with humanitarian concern for you. So show them we're human by stepping up and doing the right thing anyway. An eye for an eye may be fair, but then the whole world is blind.

When men try to speak on women's issues, we get told to sit down and shut up. After all, we haven't personally experienced women's issues and have nothing valuable to add to the conversation. On the other hand, these women think they are authorities on how a penis works and what can cause an erection. Ask literally any honest man and they can confirm that an erection can be a result of physical stimulation and nothing more. For young men, it may not take any more than the wind blowing the right …

So if I understand the original comic, feminism is about every single person you meet liking you 100% and never being judged for anything. I think most of us realized that life just doesn't work that way sometime around 3rd grade, right? I guess being comfortable with the fact that not everyone likes me is my male privilege showing. Good job on your version. Underscores the absurdity well.

1) Power comes from the hips. I don't care if a woman has wider hips, if I lift twice or more what she does on every single lift, I still have more powerful hips. I have never once seen a woman hit like I can. 2) Women have a lower center of gravity. Good luck using your "shortness advantage". Being tall in a fight is just plain awesome. If I'm even 2" taller than my opponent, they will have a hell of a time getting past my jab and left kick. If I have 6" or more over them, I really don't need m…

Perhaps I should have said not about hating feminists. It's a subtle but important distinction. Feminism as a whole is, indeed, a poisonous and vile ideology. However, the author of the article seemed a lot more level headed and like someone who, if not an ally, is at least trying to pull the reigns in on the crazy in her movement. I'll take that as a good thing already, and by her willingness to listen to what men have to say, she may one day come to our support us if we don't push her away fir…

The second comment down was from a user named Mens Rights Movement. He claimed the article was nothing more than man-hating in another form. It seems to me that this is one feminist who is willing to listen to what we have to say and will use and understand logical arguments. She is saying feminism needs to stop so many of the things we hate about it (excluding men from the discussion, thought policing, and shouting down dissenters), and someone claiming to represent the MRM just wants to shut h…

That was the exact point where I realized the author was full of crap. I might be wrong because I've only been here for about a year, but I think she's referring to the SRS dominated subs where women whine about men hitting on them and call it creepy. It's not really a "don't give it if you can't take it" situation if it's women bashing men both times. Fill me in if I'm missing something here though. Also I thought Reddit was best known for showing news/interesting information 3 days before I la…

Women are typically viewed as physically fit and attractive as long as they are at a healthy weight. They are not expected to be strong, just not fat. With decent eating habits, this requires very little exercise, and nothing too hard. When I first started getting into fitness, I got my body fat % into the single digit range, but being 155 lb at 6'1" just made me look creepy or feminine depending on who you asked. I had to get up to about 180 before most people thought I was attractive. I may no…

Average untrained men outperform average untrained women in nearly (if not every) category of athletic performance. This isn't sexism; it's science. The male body simply produces more testosterone, and typically much more growth hormone as well, which leads to most men having larger and stronger muscles. This is the reason we have separate men's and women's leagues in almost all sports. The fact that anyone thinks "you throw like a girl" has anything at all to do with hating women is mind-boggli…

With proper technique, you probably have enough strength to snap that cartilage. Of course, that's horrible to do to someone and you have to judge whether the situation warranted that much force, but it's an option.
