Yes, this indicates that there is something that probably merits investigation, but without having any clues as to why the different rates, it's wrong to say that there is a problem here. It's likely that MIT has a goal of a 50/50 gender ratio, and so long as more men than woman apply, you're going to see different acceptance rates. But while you may have to go a standard deviation or two out from the norm to find women who can physically hack the military, given populations in the millions, that is still a large absolute number of capable women.
