I was mostly MSC ships, and a couple of Maersk ships, but I never saw anyone armed except for us. The MSC ships have an armory and a few weapons, but I never saw them issue any.

I was stationed at Maritime Expeditionary Security based out of Bahrain, all I did for two years was ride MSC ships as well as full civilian ships around the horn of Africa, protecting against pirate attacks and mean mugging the Iranians in the gulf. Only had to shoot some flares and warning shot a couple times, pirates back off real quick when they find out ships are armed. No idea why EVERY shipping company doesn't do this. And yeah, they make pretty good money out there. Tons of overtime. The…
