Oh fuck. I'm sorry. I was tired when I typed that; for me, it was more about choosing to work and have a career or a family lol I don't choose the CC and I don't see sex drive as an unstoppable force because mine is quite low and I'm surrounded by a bunch of different people of varying sex levels. Thanks for giving me the chance to correct this. But yeah, with freedom comes choice and responsibility, obviously.

I've experienced a lot of guys doing crazy stuff for girls already, even completely unwarranted ones, so I dunno. It made the news and being news-worthy involves being rare - so I'm curious what happened. If we don't know, I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

Life is not just about relationships. We literally don't know what actually happened between them, except that they talked, do we?

What? Seriously, everyone in love can act super irrationally sometimes. And I'm sorry that this happened to him, I really am, but that's again, not everyone. The lesson is to not put the stakes that high for yourself but that doesn't mean not pursuing love at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/03/22 03:54 PM

I'd still say that you can't force someone to be in love with you. She might have good reasons to stay - like family and so on. So the better lesson is - save that effort for someone who'll return it.

I do agree that's not most people but that's also mostly because most people are shit at self reflection or self-awareness or acknowledging their own flaws. And that's truly shitty for both. Yep, that bad position is the reason why we have feminism so we indeed can make the choice you described below. You're right that it's mostly a choice between the two and trying to get both requires a shitton of work and effort and even then, few people make it. So this is finally a point we can wholly agree…

There have always been people who valued the one or the other thing more. And I'm just sorry you seem isolated from the type of relationships that are dominantly sustained by affection. If you feel like this type of relationship cannot exist, then the length of your marriage doesn't matter in this context because it has nothing to do with the type of people I'm talking about. I don't disagree that there are a lot of people who act upon sex and money, but I've met plenty of people who don't. In t…

That's why these women face the issue of vetting men for a longterm relationships like that. That's where they can fuck up. If this is what you believe, that's....just sad. I'm sorry for what you're surrounded by that you think like that. There are objective statistics that show that there are lasting marriages, even if it's in decline due to rising freedom. So it's likely that especially the ones when people grow old together are actually happy ones and I've seen it often enough in reality to b…

Like I said, I don't want kids. I'm just telling you that not all people are the same, so it's stupid to claim there's only one solution. Freedom has always gone both ways; the same mechanisms that keep men around are the ones back then are still in effect now and they happen to be the same for women: a life built together and affection. That shit exists and if it doesn't in your world, then I'm just sorry or I'll consider myself super lucky to live in a sphere in which it does.

Regarding being 40 years old with 4 kids: I don't want kids and even if I did, I'm fully capable both financially and intellectually of raising them on my own and have proven many a time that I'm good at it. I just don't want to. Regarding "fucking Stacy": This doesn't really line up with my experience. I know there are men like that but there are also genuine people who appreciate that I'm emotionally available and very supportive. I'm definitely lucky because everyone I've met who was romantic…

Yeah but telling guys you're not interested is really harder than you think. I'm also not trying to say it's "breezy", it's just the harder part of the experience. You know, especially if the couple wants kids etc., that's usually a greater risk on the woman that's spared for later. With that being said, a lot of guys would benefit from just having some female friends already because meeting people of the opposite gender through common friends is the easiest way to succeed. Women who do well ten…

"That's how women did it for centuries" What happened after in the relationship and whether that was good for them was another matter, though. And they were much more dependent on getting a man. We just aren't as reliant on men anymore which gives us the agency to leave and...well, actually just have the freedom to choose what we want. For men, the beginning of a relationship - finding a partner in the first place is what's difficult. For women, it's choosing wisely and responsibly. And both can…

Women spending money isn't the greatest metric to measure our wealth by because that's almost always been the case. Marketing likes to target women because of different social constructs that create more areas in which women may wish to consume to "improve themselves" as we're often somewhat objectified. Women also tend to have personalities that work better in the early academic settings, giving them an early advantage, even though that isn't necessarily an advantage that translates into real l…

This does not take into account that many jobs disqualify us as "good wives" in men's eyes. And that's under the premise that we care about that. Well, the thing is, it's a decision how much you want to care about appealing to the other gender, personally, I don't, so I'm more free but if you do, then that's that.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/22 07:27 PM

And this is why I have a great male best friend who's going to pose as my fiancé and tell the doctor that neither of us have plans for kids and that we agreed together that I was to be sterilised and that we had personal reasons and that he'd insist because a man's word in this matter still counts more than mine.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/22 03:02 PM

When he literally makes a common friend call you, so you're distracted and he gets to pay because you're notorious for not allowing anyone to do that for you... lolol (Just a teasing remark about one of my experiences; I, too, find it funny how insistent on this guys can be.)

Not just Prince Harry and Megan....but just socialites in general to whom national borders seem to mean nothing due to their jetset lifestyle anyway. Though, that's obviously not the common standard to judge this by, I just wonder how many men on here rationalise the prospect of mail order brides with celeb examples haha

It already appears that you're hesitating, though. Please don't take this as an offence, I don't mean to sound sexist: But lust can really cloud one's mind as you said and you could have that need fulfilled by anyone with whom you've built that sort of relationship. So like I said, really think about the long-term prospects of what you really want and what you can compromise on. It's like a lot of things in life - don't sacrifice the future for the spur of the moment, so you can make a decision …

I mean, I think it really depends on what time you're talking about, too. Social setting etc. as well. I think that a spectrum of people is on here. As students, most would be broke. After university, paths diverge, but initially, it's still close and with rising education levels (women's often ending up ahead in recent generations), I think it's fair and square to expect everyone to pay their own share. My share of female friends who make enough money/expect to make enough money aren't against …

Then think really hard about the prospects and what you want long-term because it sounds like you really do care about the emotional aspect. If you know now that the single mum might be difficult to be with long-term, it'd be the kindest to let her know now. Then think about the other women and see with whom you can progress. Long-term happiness is better than short-term indulgence especially when it appears to make you feel guilty.

I'm actually super for this because I'm attracted to the idea that people can just...want to have a nice time with each other. If I'm fighting for equality at the workplace, then that's going to have effects on how I'm supposed to spend that money, too, right? It adds to the argument, too, that this would enable people to have less money-focused relationships. The collateral would be the same on both sides. No one spends more than the other; the benefit is simply time together and if that doesn'…

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to argue against your opinion directly. I just don't like the tendency to speak in absolutes; especially since that's what the men here seem to use by just generically referring to women like we're homogenous group, as though the differences barely mattered. Men may not care but you're right that it's usually the bottom of the barrel who marries out of the country - or they're in the super high upper echelons but even then, that's seldom and I doubt we'd see them talk …

I explicitly wanted to say it's really about whom you talk to. There are successful women in all countries and it makes sense for all of us to...well, not give a fuck about guys who don't provide some benefit to our life.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/22 10:10 PM

Sorry, I just didn't like how it insinuated how foreign women were somehow even worse in this regard. It's really about whom you talk to. (View of someone in the Western European and East Asian sphere.)

I was just mentioning an example. Seriously, it doesn't really matter to me in what way guys wear make up. This was just for the commonly held belief that make up was somehow exclusively "feminine" which it isn't, even in terms of conventional beauty standards.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/22 06:07 PM
1

I can agree with that but if people want to attract others, this _is_ a viable mean.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/22 12:33 AM
1

This is how I do it but I'm also not trying to attract anyone. If people do it to attract someone else, it's alright, too, in my opinion. Whatever doesn't harm anyone else should be a fair and square mean, right? And if you're saying that makeup was just to please men - well, then have men please women with make up, too. If you want to get rid of makeup altogether because you think that it's a concept that can only exist under the patriarchy, that's your agenda and I don't have to agree with it.…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 11:37 PM

I actually don't wear make up; I was just explaining how that might benefit guys who want to do it for attention. Makeup is a hobby for me that I indulge in occasionally, so when I'm at some event, I have the skills to make me feel a bit more confident and so at home, I can have fun playing with different colours and looks, but I'm much too lazy and value my time too much to do it on the daily.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 09:04 PM

I know there are a lot of undercurrents but that doesn't mean that we can't consciously make choices just for us. Otherwise, that's really just shifting the responsibility.

I'm a woman but, dude, I was talking about the subtle stuff. Good skin is a beauty standard that applies to guys as well while lipstick doesn't really help, so why would any male apply lipstick for the sake of attracting women? If I put on concealer, it won't transfer to your face either...
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 02:21 PM
3

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood you then. I mean, partially, I find this thread relevant because there's plenty of women who're that emotionally callous, but in a way... many of them were made that way, too, and didn't come like that.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 02:19 PM
3

True, but I do think that this nearly invisible make-up looks good enough on many guys and plenty of girls who aren't well-versed in makeup can still be fooled by it. I'm Asian and our beauty standards are so harsh, it'd be impossible without makeup haha I'm sure you get what I mean, though haha
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 02:04 PM
6

That's obviously true but I'm also going to add that, since traditionally we've been conditioned to care mainly about our looks, the personality agenda should be pushed a lot more for guy's sakes - as in, us women should get better personalities. You can expect more from anyone; I just wanted to answer the question itself.

This is a lot of assumptions for a very neutral question in itself. I was just trying to answer the statement "Should men wear makeup"? Celebrities do EVERYTHING to maximize their looks, both genders do. That's working out, plastic surgery AND makeup, so as an option itself, it would make sense to at least consider it. Let's be honest, for so many women, the main selling point in our appearance is the face because a much more diversified picture of figures are allowed and socially accepted nowad…

I can agree with that weird problem regarding our socialization and I really hope it improves, too, because it'd make a lot of matters so much healthier on both sides. True, but still allow them to be what they are if they do come up. I'm not telling you to switch the modus operandi but don't completely dismiss the idea either.

I really find these extreme reactions here weird. Seriously, if a guy ends up able to do it well and use make up to - for example - make his skin quality look better without being obvious, then why not? What about it is so effeminate, aside from our social construct around it? The guys who answer here can probably not tell if a skilled woman comes in with super subtle make up, too, and you wouldn't recognise what a huge difference that already makes. And no, you don't need a shitton of colours o…

I'm aware that a vast majority of women can't but it does get better with age because it involves maturity to recognise this. I also know plenty of women who can deal with it in a constructive manner - but I know that that isn't an argument that sticks because that's personal preference and all of us get disproportionate amounts of commitment, which, to me, is a clear sign that there must be something special about the ability to make others - including men - feel like they can open up without b…

I just somehow stumbled across this but...uh, for women, getting a job is more about having your own life together than trying to attract a guy. That aside, what US culture made of it is a complete satire.

I'm sorry, it appears that OP looks at this through her lense a bit too much. (I'm saying this as a woman.) A lot of women, if you talk to them in abstract terms, will consider this a breach of trust because that's how a lot of women get to navigate the world while a lot of men are used to hiding their pain, so the standard is just completely different. Disclaimer: I'm mostly going to talk about heterosexual men and women because that's the culture we're talking about and large and I'm trying to keep things simple. In no way am I trying to push a cis-gender, heteronomative agenda. Personally, I'm already bothered that when I was younger, a shitton of relationships started by people making out when they were just about to throw up into each others' lap at a party. That's pretty much an ethnicity thing! The majority of East Asian women usually are considered looking beautiful thanks to youthfulness, induced by neotenous features. Shaving off the jaw enhances that. This is not necessarily true for women of other ethnicities, whose beauty can often be defined by a more balanced "mature" look. For them, it often throws everything off a bit. So it isn't even necessarily about deformities.

However, I do agree that looks matter most if you go by the definition of dating success like you've given us. If you think women don't go through this procedure, though, you should just check out Korean before and afters. It's one of the most common procedures for women to have and it's more common in the West than you may think, too, without discounting anyone's struggle here.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/01/22 06:40 PM

Ever considered that money, for both genders, is usually the biggest hurdle regarding this? Honestly, I'm sure way more women would like to be objectively more beautiful. Women talk each other up all the time bc it's hard to not fall into a pit mentally otherwise 'cuz society usually dictates our value as only our looks. Not like I care; I'm not really part of the dating pool or a woman of traditional value.

Yeah, I understand. Believe me, amongst others, I study the commodification of affection and its effect on people and societies. I am fully aware of how much it fucks with people. If withheld for a long enough time, affection isn't just affection anymore; it's a good. And I understand it makes it really hard to relate to a woman's struggle in any way and that's fucked, too. Nonetheless, as a woman, I still would like to state our POV. Yet I'm also glad that you discuss this to me in a concise an…

It sounds judge-y to call it a test and may be a bit too straight-forward. But in principle, I've recommended this to most of my guy-friends, too, actually. Despite how girls perceive guys and the stereotype of girls maturing faster, this is a pretty good tell if she's actually emotionally mature (do mind it's because I'm pretty young, so this is generally good advice for the demographic I'm talking about. Especially if you do have issues, it's important that the other party is ok with that).

I think that's just higher visibility of that happening. You don't see the many women who just don't give that much of a fuck in general or are already in LTRs, even though I can really empathise with how frustrating it must feel as a man.

A lot of men here mean being born as a beautiful woman, rather than "just a woman"... That aside, seriously, women's societal issues aren't really about dating and the way women are talked about here gives the impression that all of us were on the female dating strategy train which we aren't. On the other hand, I do acknowledge that this type of woman does exist aplenty. I can see that that is a huge privilege from a lot of men's point of view but I wish they'd also see that ... well, the main cause of the problem is that most women care way less about sex. In turn, it doesn't really feel like a privilege for a lot of women. Without meaning to disrespect anyone.

Dude, women have worked previously; the rate at which it's visible only increased due to access to education etc. that lessened gender segregation. Companies fucked society first, too, making this economically necessary. Dude, what the fuck. That's not all women. Just an example: Have you ever considered giving less desirable women that much empathy? They don't get very much of it. I know that because I was one. Dude, you stated several times just today that women bring nothing to society. What the fuck? And some people just inherently think differently. With how many people exist, that's bound to happen. Wait, how are men more competent when it's now intellectual work that favours neither that's shaping society the most? Or are you telling me that all women are in total, on average, dumber than men in modern societies where access to education is mostly similar? Women who don't have that level of reflection are usually either immature or quite inexperienced. If you act upon the premise that women are "all like that", it makes sense you'd end up with mostly women treating you that way because it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you treat someone like they're likely going to act a certain way, it increases the likeliness of that happening. WTF. Society is so advanced now that physical requirements have diminished so much... and in terms of intellectual capabilities, women aren't actually behind.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/01/22 07:38 PM

That may be true, but what women don't perceive to be options don't actually exist for them. I'm pretty sure most guys have enough self respect to not engage with certain types out of self-respect, too. A pump-and-dump is not the same as a relationship. Arguably, women have tons of options for the latter but most see it for what it is and don't consider it an actually sound offer to take longterm. I do agree that a lot of women misinterpret men's behaviour. In fact, I think it's much less often …

"Women's fault" I'm sorry but have you ever thought that this is actually equally true regarding men? Is this subreddit not complaining enough about the most attractive men as well? Would you say that they act any better than their female counterparts? And in making out partners feel loved, most of the time, both genders are equally lost. It takes experience, reflection and A LOT of communication to get a relationship to work. From what I can see, your post at its core boils down to "When …

I don't attract guys because of that, though. In fact, most of my guy friends are super chill dudes who see me as just "neutral" bc they're from my high school time where I was mostly perceived as such. So being new and not having that reputation...It's really usually only guys who want to get their dick wet so much that they're trying it on an _asexual_ who just likes to help (and I'm not lying that most of the time, they're perfectly average or a bit above average, yet have extremely low confi…

I'm just there for a lot of people and try to bring out the best in people. With that being said, I do meet a lot of very messed up people, too, whom I can't help and cut off. That includes people like that; so it's pretty much a mess I've brought upon myself. Rest assured I do get distance from them again, though. While this is true, the especially low wages at the lower end and the hustle culture in America suggests that there is additional pressure on these people: At the lower end of the financial spectrum, you're generally seen as less attractive already but if you also work more than a lot of Japanese (spending more time at the office is not necessarily work, even though it is indeed not conducive to forming relationships), you still have the same problem of simply having too little time and also put…

As someone who actually did research into why Japan is the way it is, there is luckily a lot that is fundamentally so different that it helps prevent the problem itself a shitton already. However, the greatest and worst similarity is the increasing monetization of affection and romance. /r/PurplePillDebate31/08/21 06:34 AM

It's so feminine-centered because historically, women were suppressed. You can't tell me that the playing field has always been this level, can you? Not like I disagree with keeping this up, by now we've reached a point at which both parties need to see improvement but I hope you can understand why, at the beginning, it was necessary.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/21 05:13 AM

Uhm...that's actually what happens a lot when old systems are being overthrown. I can't tell you a comprehensive conclusion because there's none yet but that doesn't mean that abolishing the old system is bad inherently.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/21 05:07 AM

The term "toxic masculinity" refers to the toxic aspects of what's considered masculine. We do not argue about sex or the gender idea itself when we're talking about "toxic masculinity". It already means those "toxic societal expectations towards men" and their conditioning for it. You just seem upset abt how aggressive the wording sounds towards men, which I can agree with, but unfortunately, it is what it is right now.

We can all tell you that good hygiene and personal care are good. Other than that, it's fucking diverse. Also, hot take: Women generally like guys who're confident. Not faking to be confident and trying to appeal to us, per se, but just...happy, you know. Work on being your own best version first before you try to trim yourself to the taste of some women on the internet.

what the fuck, why does it have to be that shit? Srsly, Asia just has an established, different aesthetic system that has traditionally placed more value on beauty, including in men. And dude, the guys in the manga are often very masculine in every other aspect - we just like the looks of it, it's possible. Maybe not so common in US culture but it's there.

Depending on how much you want to be able to provide your kid and what part of the country you live in, it can be really really expensive. And I do think that every parent still wants the best for their kids - just saving up for potentially letting them go to college is already hard enough and much harder than it used to be.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/07/21 04:59 PM
2

Yeah, I was just arguing the point for women here but I do see that the system has to change to benefit both sides. As women pick up some slack and show that they can act more 'manly', too, men should be alllowed to be more vulnerable without being called a wimp.

Yeah, I don't think people are inherently malicious, so I'll believe you. And I think the traditional model is fine - while not for me, I know a lot of people who're happy with it and I'd be perfectly happy if that was possible for them. (Unfortunately, it's only possible in few cases now, I don't support the position that traditional gender roles are inherently evil.) And while femininity is currently being contended, it's never about everyone. My generation, for the most part, just wants socie…

You see, there are clear signs that more than biology is involved in this development. Biology predicts tendencides in big groups but when you look at reality, the distribution is so vastly different it's hard to take that as the reflection of the actual people without societal pressures in it. You're underestimating women's drive to work and men being in need for more emotional support. It's not like the current system is that healthy for everyone.

Do you not see that the majority of people CANNOT have a comfortable life on a single income anymore? And even if we want to work, then so be it. If you want that traditional life, go find someone who'll give it to you because there's always all sorts of people out there.

In this case, you're blessed with a good salary. That's decreasing for us, so do you see my point at least? I'm 20 and I hope I'm not coming off as entitled when I honestly claim that if I bring half of the income to the table, I should also only do half of the domestic chores and if I were ever to have kids, I want their dad to be as present in their life as I am. The traditional duty would be bringing enough money to the table that she can focus on housework. You're just lucky that you've found a wife willed to do both DESPITE her having to work, too. But as men's income doesn't suffice anymore, they're failing their traditional role. I don't see why, thus, homework should not be split? At this point, in fact, the men are entitled for demanding both. Okay, first of all, thanks for agreeing with me on this and double-thanks for being a guy. 'Cuz sometimes it's really hard to still believe in your gender when you spend some time on here and see people argue basic stuff like that. Not to be rude, it's just my feelings when I spend time on here and I don't even normally feel that way. I didn't mean to nitpick. I just wanted to say what's "wrong" with our situation, in many cases, it's the worsened state of the economy that's troubling us. The questioning of gender roles is a side effect and I can't really tell how many people really want to switch - I'm sure natural tendencies do exist - but the model you're proposing is simply not viable for us anymore and it's something often overlooked. You'd be surprised how many men take it for granted for women to do both because they s…

You know, most of us are expected to work now, we're living in another economical reality... I hope it's okay to accept that we're also human and just as tired after working a 9 to 5. So splitting housework it is. In fact, this is a problem occasionally because when people don't realise that, women are suddenly faced with BOTH the household and their own job. I'm sure there are plenty of people who wouldn't mind just doing one or the other, but for most people, that isn't economically viable any…

As a fellow German who's been to America, I can sort of agree, though for me, it all boils down to economics and how much it's stressed there. Let's be honest, the governing mentatlity for the most part is "capitalism rules" while we have more...'socialist' streams that enable certain discussions. For me, that also majorly explains why Social Media mainly seems about showing off.

Oh, yeah. Regarding this, I do agree. But I'd suggest that another good argument for prostitution is also the fact that there must be women who'd do it voluntarily and that it's wrong to take that away from them. In this capitalist system, everyone brings to the table what they have and for women, more often than not, it's their looks. It might help you win some arguments. Not all, there are alway prudes, but alas. I am not telling you to do that simply because I don't like restricting men. I me…

Idk I think a huge problem.on reddit is that some people assume it's all about the US and others are like "yeah, where I am" cuz this is actually an international platform. And while yes, the US poses the majority on here, I don't think it's fair to always take them as the standard. That's a literally unhealthy standard to apply and I'd rather not globalise it more than it already is. People who have another perception of average than you may just be from somewhere else. Usually, the women they're physically attracted to must also have as many check boxes checked, if not more. I am pretty sure they would usually want someone a bit shorter, not balding, with a nice face, not fat...either butt, chest or both or any other specific trait, someone who dresses nicely and is well-groomed which can be a long list for women, depending on the standards you want to have. Not saying that us women have a much shorter list but it's definitely not that much either.

This type of drastic response is why I'm so pro gun restriction laws. Can we please act as civilised people? It works in plenty of other countries. And I don't mean the prospect of being shot, just the one of being seen as unagreeable and thus, unattractive.

As a very direct female in a country where guns aren't common (so much for the fear of getting shot that other women seem to have) and who had this talk in honesty, I just want to say that I'm generally villified for this behaviour. It just doesn't make you an 'agreeable woman'. Luckily, I don't try to get into a relationship or appear very attractive, so I don't mind that too much but I can see how that prospect would be hard for a lot of women to bear.
