I wasn't allowed to throw out any of his stuff, and he never sorted through them. I got rid of 80% of my and the kids' stuff to make the mess manageable because I thought it was my fault. It irritated the F out of me and my ex husband didn't care. He'd set up the furniture but still allowed boxes from the furniture to litter the place for example. My ex and I separated 6 months ago, we called it quits. Then, about 2 months ago, a flip switched. Now my 7.5 year old cleans up after himself and is willing to do chores, now my 5 year old is actually reasonable and stopped his methods of destruction. I would've never left or complained about chores if I actually had a reasonable mess to clean up, not a "3 apartments worth of mess!". I didn't need nor wanted 5 sets of plates set, 60 cutleries, or 3 blenders. Ugh. Nobody complains about chores if the mess is reasonable, something that allows you to deep clean the whole place top to bottom in one day is alot more manageable.
