I think the key idea you expressed is that the woman has a sliver of hatred in her heart. Don't let her bitterness spread. Let her garbage be her garbage. You'll be a lot happier if you don't let other people saddle you with their baggage. Don't get me wrong, I agree that it shouldn't have been put up. I just don't think people should be putting on their "Fairness and equality" battle armor over something this insignificant, especially when the proposed course of action won't accomplish anything…

Right, there's definitely a double standard at work here. The question is if it really matters or is worth getting upset over. We applaud feminists who can ignore the little things that don't matter (the use of the word "mankind", or men making sexual jokes in their own private conversations), so maybe we should do the same. Focus on the things that DO matter and can be changed. All taking this sign down will do is piss off the teacher and potentially give the guy a reputation for being huffy an…

Honestly? This is one of the things I'd roll my eyes at and let roll off my back. People say stupid things and have stupid ideas, but the most important thing is that I don't have to share them. I don't think something like this is worth getting worked up over, but that's my opinion. I don't know if I'm just lazy or if activism is better left to other people.

This is good. Hope the constructive criticism from everyone else helps ya out OP.

Good point. I got a bit lazy there. I definitely jumped to a few conclusions, which is a mistake. Still, those things don't make her attitude ok. Reverse the genders and imagine the outpouring of contempt you'd get from anyone on her opinions or the situation, MRA or no. There's a reason for that reaction. The conviction is just more clear when it's a girl on the receiving end, and people tend to be a bit more attentive/sensitive to those situations. Abuse isn't ok, and you can't truly excuse so…

No worries. Playing devil's advocate is important. However, it didn't seem like a cultural issue. It did seem that she had a deep rooted mistrust/hatred towards all men, as she immediately assumed that he cheated or had done something else to deserve the abuse. I doubt it had anything to do with how she was raised. Judging by the setting and her dress, I'd say she's probably middle/upper middle class, which in turn means she probably has a college degree. It's a small step from there to guess th…

It's inspiring to hear such a level headed, articulate opinion from a young and obviously well educated woman. The critical thinking is strong with this one, and she's given me some fresh insight on the issue. She voiced a lot of opinions I hold, and gave me some new food for thought. A++ for the utter lack of a victim complex and the willingness to look reality in the face.

That's how I felt about it. Wah wah wah, I'm a victim. Same shit you hear from feminists. People on either side cling to this type of thinking because it justifies their bitter whining.

Victim complex much? Women aren't out to get you. You aren't a poor little puppy who's being kicked. I can't believe I'm even saying this. These are all arguments I use on feminists. One man. You're basing your opinion off of the life experiences of one man. Go ahead, but I'm not going to hate half of humanity because one dude had some rough experiences. I've met plenty of girls who are as intelligent as they are compassionate. I don't think of my gender like a political party, or a war clan tha…

My point is that misogyny isn't a good thing. Feminists see it in pretty much anything and everything, because they're encouraged to be paranoid, but that doesn't mean it isn't bad. Hating people solely because of their gender is fucked up and ignorant, and that's what this essay suggests. This flimsy line of reasoning is what many feminists use to back up their misandry: a few of the men I've met over the course of my life were shitty to me, or raped me, therefore ALL men must be shitty, cruel …

I understand some of the messages here, but I disagree with the tone and some of the underlying ideas (that every woman is a man hating radical feminist). It's definitely true that you should stay away from those types of people, but they don't form the majority of women. Any woman capable of critical thinking won't have the mindless hate of men described here. And yes, pleeeenty of women are capable of critical thinking, I'd say at about the same rate men are. It would be interesting to run a s…

Yeah. It's just sad how people think they need that to be happy. Think about how ridiculous that is. "I can't be happy until I literally can't think of anything that I want and don't have".

Upvote so hard. Why does anyone deserve anything and everything they desire? That's pretty ridiculous, especially when you consider the things some people want.

Well, there's the issue I mentioned earlier. She addresses what she considers a societal issue by referencing the video of Nodianos (a rapist) as if he is a good measure of the average man. That section goes on to say that men in our society generally don't care/can't empathize with women who aren't family members. This also carries the implication that men can only care about women in a protective sense - as a form of property, and not a human life that they love and cherish. There's also the q…

Th best part is how they use the video of a rapist and his friends as an example of how the typical man thinks. This shit pisses me off.

You have to take baby steps. Beyond that, the vast majority of reported rapes are committed by males. I know that under reporting is a big probably for male rape victims (of female rapists), but even if the statistics were more accurate I'd still wager that most of the perpetrators are male. Some facts we just have to accept. Accepting reality as presented by empirical observation is the best way to distance yourself from extremists, like the radical feminists who are unfortunately so influentia…

My lord, this is amazing. The part about the slut walk is what got me. THIS is the kind of feminism I totally support - one that stresses the equal rights of women but ALSO stresses the fact that the world is an imperfect place, and that this isn't the result of an evil, omnipresent Penisocracy.

The new wave of feminism is pretty ridiculous. Here's how the belief structure works, from what I've seen. Society has issues----->if you dig deep enough, every issue is a gender issue---->every gender issue is caused by misogyny----->because every issue is caused by misogyny, only women are qualified to speak on them---->cis white males are unanimously ignorant, and are the creators and vectors of misogyny------>therefore, you should never attempt to have a reasonable debate with them, as they …

I'd really feel a lot better about it if you read it - that way I won't have to worry that I'm giving a biased reporting. And fun fact, my friend deleted that last comment. Afterwards it was just them talking about how dumb I am and posting the Picard face palm. So internet savvy! Typical circle jerking.

Friend posts a link talking about how men can't wear women's clothing because femininity is seen as bad in society. I comment that men and women can be made to feel ashamed of their gender. Feminist #1 (marked with brown) starts talking it out with me, but after I refute her points she says that "I've lost all coherence" and refuses to speak to me anymore. Then she deletes all of her comments. Feminist #2 (marked with blue) comments through out, saying that men's rights activists are cry babies …

I took out the kegel bit, nobody noticed. I did keep it up, but it looks like it's winding down. Honestly, I'm just tired, and I know I'm not going to change anybody's mind.

Yeah, it's funny you say that, rape culture is actually the next issue we talk about. I'll post the rest in a bit. As for the murder bit, I just wanted to show that men don't have an easy time in our society.

Thank you! I did my best to be fair, to look at the facts, and to acknowledge that both genders have challenges. Haha, you're absolutely right. The girl who I gave the brown color claimed to be all impartial, but consistently liked the extremist view points advanced by the girl in blue. Read parts 6 and 7 if you haven't already, it's really funny how the extremist reacts when I call her out. If you didn't see my other post, the girl marked with brown just deleted all of her posts.

Thank you, I tried to remember a lot of the points I've seen here. It's just exhausting. Her ideas seemed so disjointed, both from each other and whatever I had said that she was replying to, that it made me wonder if I was missing something. I agree with you, I definitely felt like she was just getting frustrated and giving up. You're probably right about the last comment, but I couldn't resist. I just thought it was so funny how she felt she had to establish that I'm not entitled to her time o…

If you do something nice for someone you like them better. It's counter intuitive, but empirically proven. Ben Franklin stumbled upon it when he asked one of his worst enemies to lend him a book - afterwards, the man felt more positively about Franklin and was flattered that he asked.
