Fair point. I hadn't considered gaming when thinking "internet" so perhaps they didn't either? maybe they're looking at social media where conversations are typically carried with a level of anonymity based on whether you choose to be recognizable account like youtube, reddit, twitter, etc. I'd be inclined to believe as much. I'd be surprised if these numbers included verbal posturing made on XBL and PSN etc

I haven't the slightest clue if insinuating someone's orientation is considered sexual harassment. I mean that you see more of the "rape threat" against women online than men. It seems like women definitely get that more often than men, but again that could just be because the only exposure I have of that first hand, is when it becomes national news (ie: Sarkeesian, Wu, 4chan)

Probably referring to more women getting solicitation to perform acts and threats of sexual assault. Where as male on male or female on male harassment tends to lean more on the belittlement and emasculation of the victim. (That's the assumption I'm making in this context, anyway.)

Just a heads: Your link argues the opposite of what you're saying to be true. all it says is that women are more likely stalked. it even goes as far to say: "Overall, men are somewhat more likely than women to experience at least one of the elements of online harassment, 44% vs. 37%. In terms of specific experiences, men are more likely than women to encounter name-calling, embarrassment, and physical threats." next to the 3rd figure. Still a good source, but I don't think it drove home the poin…

not confusion (what made you think it was confusion? people don't sigh in exasperation when they're confused do they?) It's Disdain for those who believe that handing someone a gun makes less of a target for rape. is a rapist seriously going to ask if they're packing heat? is the victim really going to be able to reach a gun if she's in a position where she's about to be raped? is this a serious argument? that every last person who COULD be raped would be safer holding a gun? don't get me wrong …
