They're played for shock value, sure, but in a different way. They're shock-funny humour, not shock-horror humour. The rape is shocking, but the 'joke' is still the rape itself. A male-on-female rape would never be presented as lightheartedly.

Gay communities hate when people assume they're straight, but then turn around and assume queerness in others. It's more like, they assume everyone who isn't overtly flamboyant is straight. I can't count the number of times I've been told I'm a "straight white man" so I don't "understand what it's like". If they actually listened to me for a second they would see I'm not straight. And ironically the reason non-straight men have to present themselves as straight in the first place is because any …

An acquaintance of mine posted on social media the other day "only 1% of rape cases result in conviction". This wording comes up a lot and I think it's very telling. Notice how the focus is on conviction? It doesn't say "only 1% of rapists get punished". The focus is on conviction because they don't care about guilty or not guilty. They want to lock up the accused man so the accuser "wins", regardless of whether he actually did the crime or not. This is backed up by what feminists say, I've had …

It's the same reason many feminists are extremely sex-negative when it comes to promiscuous women and prostitution. Women who give up sex easily or allow "low value" men access to sex lower the value of sex, which diminishes women's sexual power.

Have you ever seen the film Licorice Pizza? It's about a 25 year old woman and her "relationship" with a 15 year old boy. The whole time I was sat in disbelief, waiting for the plot twist or for some kind of reframing. But no. It simply fades to black, with the woman saying "I love you" to a CHILD. This film was nominated for an oscar btw.

A lot of men cope with the constant man-bashing in society by reframing themselves as "one of the good ones". Rather than going "No, men aren't all rapists and monsters" as we would, they go "Yes, men are rapists and monsters, but not me. I'm different". In doing so they shield themselves from the criticism

Lots of stories on that post of boys acting out, yet nobody asks why boys act like that? One comment literally says that girls do better because they "actually try" while boys just mess about. Has nobody thought to ask why boys don't feel like trying? Boys are forced into a classroom to sit for 6-7 hours a day, engaging in mostly pen-and-paper tasks rather than manual work, not given any reason for why they are doing what they are doing or why it's important, and forced to blindly follow authori…

It's also weird how we get constant messaging of "women can do anything, women are just as good or better than men" but at the same time it's "women need unwavering support in literally every aspect of life"

"Women" is slowly becoming a "category" in itself. Let me explain what I mean. All the time virtue signallers are saying things like "support female artists" "support female owned businesses" etc. "Female" is not a genre of music. "Female owned" is not a product you can buy. I care about whether the music is good or the product is something I need, not the genitals of the person who made it. Being associated with femininity is not a substitute for substance. There was a contestant on Mastermind …

I'm 22, just starting to step into the "real" adult world. I've slowly come to realise that I have no idea who I am, no idea how to be a real man. I grew up with only women and I had no male role model to teach me how to act.

I've seen a lot of women describing behaviours that are "unproblematic" in men, and they're literally just feminine behaviours. You're born wrong and you can only be fixed if you try your hardest to act like something you're not.

Physical violence is in a league of its own. "Man assaults woman in nightclub" makes headlines, and feeds the perception that men are dangerous and evil, but you'll never see "Woman is a manipulative bitch who take pleasure in making the people around her miserable" in a newspaper. I'd rather be punched in the face than emotionally abused. Sometimes non-physical harm is worse than physical violence, and it's weird that a society so considerate of mental health doesn't appreciate that fact.

One of the feminist subs, can't remember which, has a section in its FAQ about "what feminism has done for men". EVERY example they give is either a byproduct of a developed society (i.e. nothing to do with feminism) or a side effect of helping women first and foremost.

"I am aware of the research that suggests that people, both male and female, on average prefer to spend time around women rather than men." This is exactly why keeping it as a mostly male space might be a good thing. As soon as you get a significant population of women, the group culture shifts towards catering to the women. The group becomes female-focused. I'm not saying exclude women, I'm just saying having a space where the boys can hang out together without too much female energy can be hea…

When I was at university almost every club was female dominated. I was a regular in the modern foreign languages society, and there were about 3 guys out of the 30+ regular members, with the entire committee being women. It got to the point I didn't feel I could go to the less structured, more social meetups, because I just didn't feel welcome as a man and I didn't want to hang out with only women all night. Part of this is probably that women prefer more structured socialising, whereas men are …

It's like how teenage boys are charged more for car insurance than teenage girls, because boys are statistically more likely to get into a crash in the first few years of driving. Somehow this is considered fine and reasonable, but if you discriminated based on ANY other characteristic, people would lose their minds.

Plus, unless I'm misunderstanding something here, if you have exact financial data for someone, surely you don't even need an AI because you can just calculate their loan eligibility directly? The use of an AI would be to predict someone's eligibility without knowing their exact financial situation, based on other facts you DO know about them.

As someone who did my master's research project on neural networks - that's not really how it works. The model builds a relationship between the feature data (that is, known properties of each sample/person) and the label data (the property we want to predict). The more features you provide, the more deep the modelled relationship is, so the more accurate predictions you can get and the more robust the model will be. Since there is some statistical correlation between gender, religion, race, etc…

Whenever a woman commits a crime, everyone jumps to find a way to justify her actions. People are already reaching to her mental illness to make her seem less guilty than she is. "Aww, poor Lucy, she was mentally unwell, she couldn't help it". Lucy is the worst child serial killer in British history, and a small minority is STILL trying to make her out as the victim.

You almost touched on something really important. Women historically were mostly responsible for childcare. It was WOMEN who instilled values in their children. It was women who raised their sons into men. (Especially before school became commonplace). Aren't women equally if not more responsible, then, for their sons maintaining the "patriarchy"?

There's almost nothing you can fit on a sign that won't be massively misconstrued. People are going to see "Men need a seat at the table" and assume you're saying men are oppressed, and you're an "alt-right incel". Without several paragraphs of clarification for the uninitiated it's impossible to get the point across. Maybe consider putting one tangible disadvantage on the sign? In that first story, imagine if a man ditched his wife because he made more than her and he knew he could do better. He would be crucified. I'm familiar with people fabricating hypotheticals to put the woman in the right. The story could be like "I was robbed by a woman" and someone in the comments will go "uhhh maybe she was just raped and urgently needed money for the pill??? Have some compassion". It's insane the mental gymnastics people do to blame the man.

What they mean when they say "the patriarchy hurts men too" is "I still think you're ultra privileged, but it's getting hard to ignore that men have problems too". It's not really a desire to fix men's problems, it's not an expression of empathy for men, it's a concession to keep the real issues men face within the framework of feminist theory.

Why does inflation happen? Companies put prices up as much as the market will bear. Capitalism keeps people only just able to afford their necessities to keep them working. Prices will always be at the maximum they can get away with. What are you going to do, just not buy food this week? Of course not. So when the average household suddenly has two incomes, prices rise to match. Prices may double, and putting food on the table for a week now takes both partners working rather than one. But what …

Women didn't enter the workforce due to economic pressures. It's the other way round. Once women started working, the market shifted so that a household needed two incomes to survive. (This is not a criticism of women working in any way, that's just what capitalism does)

These conversations about power seem a bit irrelevant to me. Your experience of gender is dictated by day-to-day social interactions. By social relationships and dynamics. On a daily basis you're not interacting with CEOs and politicians. And in these day to day interactions women have the upper hand. Both men and women prefer women and enjoy interacting with women. Women get the benefit of the doubt and their intentions are assumed to be good by default. Women don't get treated like a dangerous…

One of my most controversial opinions is that the vast majority of what we call gendered violence is actually not gendered. For it to be gendered violence, the violence has to be done because of the victim's gender. It's the same as if I get into a fight with a black guy, it's not a racial hate crime unless I punch him because he's black. The vast majority of violence against women is not done by men who hate women and want to hurt women for being women. An abusive husband doesn't slap his wife …

It's literally a common saying that "men are just simple creatures". We're not simple, we just need less to be happy. We protect our peace and focus on ourselves and our tasks rather than the lives of other people.

So many women have never considered men's experiences, but it's worse than that. A lot of women just assume men's experiences are exactly the same as women's but without all the negatives women face. They genuinely never consider that men have DIFFERENT perspectives and experiences to women, and have just as complex lives and problems.

The word incel has become such a buzzword that it no longer means anything. It originally described a disenfranchised, sexually frustrated group of men who struggled with women. Now it's a label slapped on any guy who holds any vaguely controversial opinion. I've seen people calling Ben Shapiro and Andrew Tate incels. Feminism does not have a monopoly on the concept of equality. Feminism is an ideology whose mission statement is to achieve gender equality. This does not reflect how feminism is used most of the time. By labelling yourself a feminist, you're choosing to identify with all the disgusting things that have been done in the name of feminism. If you want to really anger people, pretend to support the repopulation argument and say that for every man killed at war, the government mandates that one woman must have a baby. Mandated by force if necessary. If we send men to die against their will, why not force women to repopulate against their will? We can have government agents that go round enforcing pregnancy, the same way we have soldiers in the trenches who have to shoot their friends who refuse to go over the top. That sounds fair, …

Whenever the topic of sending people to war comes up, there are always women AND men saying "it's better to send only men to die because we need to keep women back to repopulate". Your comment is exactly why that argument is dumb. Barring some kind of societal collapse, babies come from heterosexual commited relationships. Each couple needs a man and a woman, and the number of possible couples is limited by whichever sex is in the fewest numbers. If 50% of men die at war, only 50% of women will …

"Why is there disdain for taking active agency with love and dating? Why are a lot of people subscribing to wanting relationships to just happen out of thin air?" This is because online discourse is heavily focused on female perspectives. To many women, "active agency in dating" means men hitting on them, which is something they perhaps understandably are fed up with. Similarly, "relationships just happening out of thin air" IS how women approach relationships. All the steps, from first contact …

This is a very common problem. Support services that claim to be for everyone, but everything about their branding, aesthetic, content, messaging, etc. shows that they are only for women. Men are, at best, an afterthought. We really need support services equivalent to what women get that are directly targeted at men, using messaging that men would feel comfortable engaging with.

I often hear women say a room full of men would be a scary and dangerous place to be. My own sister said, "I could never sleep in a hostel, it's just a room full of men, you don't know what could happen". That's not how it works. The average man is far, far more likely to help you than hurt you. Having more men around means you are MORE safe, because if one of them tries to hurt you there are more who will step in and help. There's a logical fallacy I see feminists commit a lot, and I'm trying to find a name for it. I wonder if anyone knows? It goes like this: Person A makes a statement. There's a proposed law somewhere (can't remember where) to make the death penalty an option for child rape cases. A lot of people rightly pointed out that if the punishment for rape is the same as the punishment for murder, that's a great incentive to murder their victim. On top of that, given that rape cases are kinda hard to prove concretely, this law would absolutely lead to innocent men getting the electric chair.

To make it clear what I'm saying: Imagine there's an accused rapist. We think he did it, but we don't know for sure. The crime is in the past - punishing him won't unrape his victim. So sending him to prison achieves two things: 1) Emotional closure for the victim; and 2) removing him from the public so he can't offend again. If we know there's a chance he's innocent, but we choose to send him to prison anyway, we are saying that 1) emotional closure/revenge for the victim is more important than…

Exactly. As soon as a man says he's lonely, he gets lumped in with all the "undesirables".

This is what happens when decades of feminism tells men to listen to women, but never the reverse. A lot of women have never even considered that men might have different viewpoints. What really annoys me is when their idea of what the make experience is like is exactly the same as the female experience, but more brutish and stupid. And of course at no point in this process to they think to ASK men what their experiences are like. On a slightly related note, some women are ignorant about men's a…

Thank you. Honestly, even as I was writing out this post, I already knew what I had to do. just getting all my thoughts collected in one place helped me see it clearly. I'm committed to this relationship, and whatever happens happens. If it doesn't work out, at least we know we tried.

Thank you. I 100% think it's worth trying. Even if it doesn't work out, at least we gave it a go.

Sorry if this sounds insensitive, but: you may be upset now, but before long you'll be glad she's gone. Use this experience as a guide to know what NOT to look for in a partner. Your deserve someone who appreciates you for who you are. You shouldn't have to defend your identity to your partner.

Yes. And actually I think that goes hand in hand with the man-hating. Both are a signal that you're different and you're "not like the rest". (I'm not saying that everyone who talks like that hates men)

I think it's a way of signalling that he's "not like the other ones".

These same gays guys are likely to be feminists and misandrists. I used to be friends with a guy like that, every 5 minutes he has to mention how much he hates men and how boring straight people are. Emphasis on USED TO BE friends.

This reminds me of those representative jobs for certain groups. "women's officer" "LGBT chairman" and stuff like that. Technically a man is allowed to apply for the position of women's officer, but realistically there's a 100% chance the role will be filled by a woman.

I've always wondered about the legality of places like that. There's a female-only bar near me. If I tried to go in, would they turn me down, or is it only a strong suggestion that men do not enter rather than a hard rule? If they did turn me down, would I have a case for discrimination? If the bartenders are all female (I'm assuming they are) that's an even more clear cut case of discrimination, since they're locking men out of employment purely for their sex.

This is why I'm in the perfect position to change her mind. I'm the only man who she can't just block and disregard as a crazy alt-right misogynist. I think it would take something happening to ME for her to finally care.

Men really need to start building up some solidarity. I think it's already started to happen, but it's nowhere near enough.

I was literally just thinking about this a minute ago. Feminist ideology is so prevalent in the social sciences, but these subjects should be the ones that are the most socially aware. How does someone study psychology for 3 years and NOT self-reflect on their own mindset and biases? How does someone study sociology for 3 years and NOT recognise the obvious injustices in society?

Of course she would care if it happened to someone she knew. The problem is the othering of men. The treating of men like they're a faceless entity. She would be upset if this happened to a man she knew, but she doesn't connect the dots and see that EVERY man has sisters, friends, mothers. Every man who is falsely accused has someone like her in their life, that would be upset for him.

She has a lot of disgusting opinions about men. This comment was barely scratching the surface. I try to not talk about gender politics with her, because being reminded that someone close to me hates a big part of my identity honestly hurts a lot.

I was talking to my sister about false accusations, and she said to me she wouldn't care if innocent men got locked up as long as women got justice. Some people just DO NOT give a shit about men.

If you look at it in terms of sexual encounters - men in general want sex more often than women, so one man who's very sexually active is enough to "remove" several women from the market. (Talking about sex as a market feels gross and is a huge generalisation, but it's useful in some contexts). With the rise of online dating, the market is now so wide that women can shoot for the top 1% of men and have no incentive to lower their standards. I don't blame women for this, they're just playing the …

I think "men prefer to sleep around" is a simplification. Both men and women want relationships, if it's with the right person. The difference is that men are willing to sleep around with women who aren't the "right one". For men, the standards for sex are much lower than the standards for a relationship.

Wouldn't it be great if male and female DV victims shared the same shelters? If they could talk to each other about their similar experiences? It would go a long way towards humanising the other side. Keeping female victims away from men surely just strengthens the idea that men are this dangerous, distant entity that's out to get them.

It's because most of these arguments go down on social media. Nobody goes to social media to engage in am intellectual debate. They go to turn their brain off for a bit. So nobody wants to read your well written, nuanced, evidenced argument. However, the feminist buzzwords and snappy one-liners give people something to upvote, to get the dopamine and feel like they're part of something, without having to turn their brain on. That's why their debate tactics are so dirty and dishonest. It WORKS.

I think it's partly society never teaching women not to hit men (as opposed to the "never hit a woman" line men are constantly told), and partly that women's violence is seen as less serious and less harmful. And also women are conditioned to let their emotions show, whereas men are told from day 1 to never show any emotion.

In my childhood, my dad never laid a finger on me. My mum slapped me several times, and she would always justify it by saying "You just made me angry!"

Even the pushback against the worst hatred is still basically hate speech. I've seen pushback from women against #killallmen and the like. But they're usually saying stuff like "actually I don't hate all men, but I'm forced to be wary of them, I wish it didn't have to be like this" But the fact that you can even say you're scared of all men shows how far we still have to go. If you were scared of any other demographic, you'd acknowledge that as deeply prejudiced and work on it within yourself wi…

It's especially obvious when it's not the same crime, but EXACTLY the same crime. Whenever couples commit crimes together, the man gets a longer sentence than the woman.
