Don’t know CA state law but maybe their version of defamation only requires negligent or reckless statements resulting in injury, but not necessarily willful.

I don’t know, I feel like a broke guy isn’t going to cough up the money for that many marriages and divorces, while a broke woman can usually find a sucker with money and rinse and repeat.

If it happened once or twice ya feel bad, but when it’s the 6th and 7th time, ya can’t say he’s not at fault in at least a couple of the divorces. At the very least you can only feel bad for a guy that shoots himself so many times.

Well of course she’s not paying for the open bar, but I’m betting she’s only marrying a guy if he’s got the money to splash out for things like an open bar and does so.

I hate it, but unfortunately, depending on the state, she is right; when a child is born and the parents are not married, mother retains sole legal and physical custody. She can deny the dad custody or visitations until the dad obtains a court order granting him those rights. When a child is born to married parents, the husband, and assumed father, is given those rights. If the woman got pregnant by a different man while married, the father again has to petition the court for his rights to the c…

Just about anywhere I’d imagine. Legal definitions have to be very precise and most rape laws center around unconsented penetration. Otherwise the crime is more likely an (indecent) sexual assault and battery.

That may be true for some things, like tax law or something. But some crimes, crimes of moral turpitude, are so inherently wrong on so many levels, such as murder, that we shouldn’t need a law to know they are wrong (not to say it shouldn’t be punished, but it’s wrong regardless of the law). Laws don’t determine morality.

I agree some people can’t be rehabilitated or pose too great a danger to society to be released, but the US has to make a better effort to rehabilitate and reform. It’s crazy how high the US prison population per capita is compared to the rest of the world.

That wasn’t the point he was making. Yes, we should remove murders from society. But he was saying he was surprised there aren’t more murderers in Canada due to more lenient sentences than those imposed in America.

So the only reason you don’t murder someone is because of the penalties and incarceration you might face? Instead of, I don’t know, not murdering people because it’s physically and morally abhorrent?

Depends on whether or not your state board of bar overseers takes any action. I’m not familiar with the case but they may have taken no action as she was previously a judge and may have had connections.

There’s a difference between a civil attorney and a criminal defense attorney. I understand what you’re saying, and a criminal defense attorney is necessary for anyone accused of a crime at all stages of litigation for the system to function. However, civilly suing someone on behalf of a client with outrageous claims like this is not.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. ISIS used young women who immigrated and joined their cause to advertise how great their way of life was as a recruitment tool. So, yes, they have been in the news, which draws eyes, and ire.

In the video she reads a letter from the British government revoking her citizenship, and the citizenship of her son. I don’t believe they could send him to Britain even if they wanted to.

A key that opens every lock is useful. A lock opened by every key is a cheating slut.

Doesn’t make a difference where it’s filmed. Judge Judy isn’t a legal court room in the everyday sense if the word. Judge Judy holds an alternative dispute resolution forum with binding mediation that both parties agree to prior to filming.
